About the Director
Louis Gibilisco has done a lot of “stuff” as a performer and teacher, but he is most proud of his accomplishments as a husband and father. For the past 32 years, Mr. G has been privileged to be the Director of the Performing Arts Department at Notre Dame High School. He feels honored to have his wife, Debby, as choreographer with him every step of the way.
"The G's take pride in watching all of the Notre Dame Performing Arts programs grow and flourish, and have flourished a little themselves with their greatest productions: Their children Gigi, Jaime, and Jenna, their "new daughters" Helena and Jill, and their grandchildren Louie, Jace, and Georgia!"
From the Gibilisco Family to yours, God Bless, enjoy the show, and a BIG thank you to all of our alumni who have been part of the Performing Arts Program over the last 32 years. We love and appreciate all of you!

Newsies Synopsis
New York City, 1899. Jack Kelly and his ragtag team of newsboys make a meager living selling newspapers on the city streets. But when the prices of “papes” are hiked and the newsies are hung out to dry, there is nothing left to do but “open the gates and seize the day!” Led by charismatic Jack and independent, young newspaper reporter Katherine Plummer, the Newsies form a union and organize a strike against the greedy publisher of the New York World. Can a group of idealistic newsboys win against a foe as powerful as acclaimed publisher Joseph Pulitzer?
Inspired by the true story of the 1899 Newsboys Strike, Newsies is an ebullient, joyful, and entertaining musical capturing the strength that young people have when they join together and stand up against injustice. With a funny, poignant book by Harvey Feirstein and stunning music by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman – including the show-stopping Seize the Day, power ballad Santa Fe, and lovely new songs like Katherine’s Watch What Happens – Newsies is a classic with the power to inspire.

Special Thanks
To our Performing Arts Parents Association (PAPA), we give our heartfelt appreciation for your support in making theater fun and possible for our young actors, musicians, dancers and crew.
Thank you to all the Parent Groups; playbill, advertising, decorations, costume, 50/50, Kiss the Cast, concessions, flower sales and cast party. You helped make the Newsies experience special for all those involved.
A special thank you to Fred Torres and the set build committee. This was a big undertaking that the set build committee united and saved the day.
A special thank you to the teachers, staff, volunteers that worked hard to adjust all the processes and allowing “the show to go on!”
And finally, we thank all of the parents and guardians who arranged their lives around our rehearsals, costumes, set building and prop making/building schedules. We truly appreciate all you do.
While every effort was made to include all names in the program, we sincerely apologize for any names that have been omitted.

Congratulations on your third year playing ALL your instruments in the Pit Orchestra! It all started with Beauty which is a Tale as Old as Time, then Birdie where you Put on a Happy Face! Now, as you seize the day for Newsies, Carry the Banner for us all! We have loved watching you perform, have fun, achieve and grow as a hardworking and intelligent student, talented musician and athlete; but most impressive to see is the young adult that you have become. We cannot wait to see what you will achieve at Gettysburg!!
