ALTERED GENERIC: > A GENERIC RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT HAS BEEN REWORKED TO ENABLE THE DISPLAY OF MULTIPLE ARCHITECTURAL IDEAS, WITHIN A GENERIC FRAMEWORK. > RESIDENTIAL UNIT TYPOLOGIES ARE DEVELOPED FROM EXEMPLARY AUSTRALIAN ARCHTECTURAL PROJECTS. UNITS SERVE AS A 1:1 ARCHIVE AND ACT AS A SHOWCASE FOR DIFFERENT APARTMENT TYPES. > THE BUILDING IS A CASE STUDY IN PROVIDING A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT UNIT TYPES, WHICH SUIT DIFFERENT DEMOGRAPHICS, WHILST REMAINING ECONOMICAL. THIS IS ACHIEVED THORUGH MODULAR COMPONENT SYSTEMS, WHICH ALLOW FOR AN ALTERED GENERIC. > THE PUBLIC ZONES ALLOW AN INTEGRATION OF THE RESIDENTIAL TOWER, WITH THE INSTITUTIONAL PODIUM, AND ALLOW FOR THE VIEWING OF ARCHIVED MATERIAL.

MISCOMMUNICATION

> THE DIVISION BETWEEN COMMERCIAL/ RESIDENTIAL IS ARTICULATED THROUGH USING OPPOSING DEVICES: PODIUM/ TOWER, UNDER/ OVER, GROUNDED/ ELEVATED. > DIFFERENT ENTRANCES FROM DIFFERENT STREETS ENHANCE THE SENSE OF SEPERATION.

> VERTICAL SOLID ELEMENTS WOULD TYPICALLY INDICATE VERTICAL CIRCULATION CORE. IN THIS CASE THE CORES ARE INTERNALISED AND RESIDENTIAL UNITS ARE HIDDEN WITHIN THE SOLID WALLS, RESULTING IN SMALL WINDOW OPENINGS & NO BALCONY IN SOME UNITS

PATTERNING

INTERNAL PLANNING
