Boys’ All-Sports (ALL-DAY) Session 1: June 1-5; 9 AM - 3 PM Session 2: June 8-12; 9 AM - 3 PM Cost: $185 Location: Middle School Gym Ages: Boys entering grades 1-6 The All-Day camp is designed to expose boys to several sports and to play games. The ultimate goal is for each child to have a great experience while making new friends in an athletic setting.

Baseball SESSION 1 Date/Time: June 1-5; 9 AM - 2 PM Cost: $200 Location: Baseball Field/Softball Field (Backup: Athletic Center Gym in AM; Upper School Gym in PM) Ages: Boys entering grades 1-9 Each morning session will focus on the fundamentals of base running, fielding, throwing, bunting, pitching, and hitting. Each afternoon, campers will put those fundamentals to use in game situations.

SESSION 2: PITCHING/CATCHING CAMP Date/Time: June 10-12; 9-11 AM Cost: $75 Location: Baseball Field (Backup: Wrestling Gym) Ages: Boys entering grades 1-9 Campers will learn proper mechanics through drills incorporating footwork, fundamentals, and fielding position. Players will enjoy live bullpen/catching, one-on-one instruction, and pitcher/catcher pickoff work. A session with an athletic trainer/ weight coach covering arm care and conditioning will be included.

SESSION 3: OFFENSIVE FUNDAMENTALS CAMP Date/Time: June 10-12; 12:30-3 PM Cost: $75 Location: Baseball Field (Backup: Dalton Wrestling Gym) Ages: Boys entering grades 1-9 We will focus on the offensive aspects of the game of baseball with emphasis on the bunt game and base running, as well as being a consistent and productive hitter. Each camper will receive a video with a swing analysis and skills to work on after the camp.

Girls’ Basketball SHOOTING CAMPS 1 & 2: HOW TO BE A BETTER SHOOTER Cost: $125 Location: Athletic Center Gyms Ages: Girls entering grades 2-8 Camp 1:

Everyone can become a better shooter and this camp teaches you how. Focus of this camp is on age-appropriate shooting skills. Players will have their shot broken down to help fix bad habits and learn how to shoot game speed. Players will leave this camp a better shooter and with drills to help them further their development. Smaller balls and lower goals will be used for the younger girls. Camp 2:

OFFENSIVE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT CAMP Date/Time: July 20-23; 9 AM - 2 PM Cost: $215 Location: Upper School and Middle School Gyms Ages: Girls entering grades K-8 This camp will focus on offensive skill development: shooting, getting open, moving without the ball, offensive moves, breaking down the defense, scoring, passing, and position work. Fundamentals will be stressed.

Hubie Smith Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach Coach Smith has more than 30 years of coaching experience with 25 years as a varsity head coach and six years spent at the Division 1 level in college basketball. Emphasis will be on correct footwork, proper hand placement, and the four checkpoints of shooting. This camp is designed for the serious basketball player who wants to become a great shooter.

BASKETBALL FUNDAMENTALS Date/Time: July 13-16; 9 AM - 2 PM Cost: $215 Location: Upper School Gym Ages: Boys entering grades 1-8 The Fundamental Development Basketball camp focuses on improving the most important aspect of the game— fundamentals. This camp is intense, energetic, and structured for those players who want to improve fundamental skills such as footwork, passing and catching, shooting, and ball handling.

STUNT, JUMP, & STRETCH CHEER CAMP Session 1: June 1-3; 9-11:30 AM Session 2: July 6-8; 9-11:30 AM Cost: $100 Ages: Girls entering grades K-8 Campers will receive individualized instruction to promote increased flexibility, proper jump technique, and training for basing and/or flying in stunts. Attending more than one of these camps will increase your skills and prepare campers for tryouts. Each camp will be tailored to the individual’s ability level.

ALL THINGS CHEER—YOUTH CAMP Session 1: June 8-10; 9 AM - 12 PM Session 2: July 13-15; 9 AM - 12 PM Cost: $100 Ages: Girls entering grades K-2

ALL THINGS CHEER—JUNIOR CAMP Session 1: June 8-10, 9 AM - 2 PM (Bring water and a lunch.) Session 2: July 13-15, 9 AM - 2 PM (Bring water and a lunch.) Cost: $150 Ages: Girls entering grades 3-8 The youth and junior cheer camps will cover all aspects of cheerleading. The campers will learn cheers, jumps, tumbling, stunting, and dancing. The junior cheer camp will perform a complete routine at the end of camp. The camp will be a great opportunity to learn and perfect all cheerleading fundamentals from basic to advanced. The first and second sessions will offer different material for those who attend both.

Grace Ann Holbert ’90 Varsity Cheerleading Coach Coach Holbert graduated from Brentwood Academy and just completed her second year as the cheerleading coach. She coaches the middle school and varsity football and basketball cheerleaders. graceholbert@comcast.net

Marshall Smith ‘92 Varsity Boys’ Cross Country Coach Coach Smith is a BA graduate who went on to compete in cross country and track at James Madison University. He has coached boys’ cross country and track at BA in numerous roles over the last 16 years and recently finished his 10th year as the head coach of the boys’ cross country team. Cross Country Date/Time: June 1-4; 8-10 AM Cost: $80 Ages: Boys and girls entering grades 5-8 Location: Track Proper running form, warming-up and cooling down effectively, structuring runs and workouts, and mental racing strategies will all be points of emphasis during the week. This camp is open to the beginning runner or seasoned competitor. We will bus some of the days to other locations to run (Crockett Park, Radnor Lake, Percy Warner Park).

Jack Pittman Assistant Varsity Football Coach Coach Pittman is a former All-American football player at MTSU. Dodgeball Session 1: June 22-26 (5 days); 9 AM - 2 PM Cost: $160 Session 2: July 20-22 (3 days); 9 AM - 2 PM Cost: $95 Ages: Boys entering grades 3-8 Location: Athletic Center Gyms Dodgeball camp is more than just dodgeball. We will play other tried and true P.E. games such as Capture the Chicken, Mat Ball, War, and others.

FLAG FOOTBALL Date/Time: July 20-22; 6-7:30 PM Cost: $65 Ages: Boys entering grades K-6 If you are just getting into football, or already a seasoned player, this is a great way to learn techniques as well as get some game time experience before your season starts.

KICKING CAMP Date/Time: June 1-2; 5-8 PM Cost: $125 Ages: Boys entering grades 5-8 This camp will provide instruction in beginning kicking (including kick-offs and field goals) and punting. Instructors will include BA alumnus John Vaughn ‘03 (former All-SEC kicker) and local kicking guru Charlie West, who has developed several local kicking stars for FBS colleges.

LINEMAN CAMP Date/Time: June 2-4; 9-11:30 AM Cost: $125 Ages: Boys entering grades 1-8 This camp will be a non-contact camp that will emphasize the fundamentals of offensive and defensive line play.

FOOTBALL FUNDAMENTALS Date/Time: June 8-11; 9 AM - 12 PM Cost: $125 Ages: Boys entering grades 1-8 The Fundamentals camp will emphasize skills, drills, and techniques for all positions. Campers will be grouped by age and have the opportunity to learn all positions throughout the week while being instructed by varsity coaches and players.

PADDED CONTACT CAMP Date/Time: July 14-16; 6-8 PM Cost: $90 (pads not furnished)/$120 (pads furnished) Ages: Boys entering grades 2-8 The Padded Contact camp will be for all positions and will have an emphasis on fundamentals and drills related to each position. Campers will be grouped by age and position and will go through many of the same full contact drills used at BA.

Cody White Varsity Football Coach Coach White is entering his 21st year in coaching. This previous season was his third at BA. His previous coaching stops were in Texas and include Highland Park, Odessa Permian, and Denison. He will be entering his ninth year as a head coach. Gift Ndam Varsity Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer Coach Coach Gift Ndam is entering his seventh year as a head coach. He previously coached on the men’s soccer staff at Trevecca Nazarene University and has experience working with Tennessee Soccer Club, formerly known as Brentwood Soccer Club. Coach Ndam holds a Premier Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Fast Pitch Softball Camp Date/Time: June 1-3; 9-11:30 AM Cost: $100 Ages: Girls entering grades 5-11 Location: Softball Field (Backup: Dining Hall) Campers will be exposed to a variety of drills that will help improve their skill level in outfield and infield play, as well as proper base running techniques and bunting fundamentals. We will create colorful, exciting, and fun pieces of art as we explore new media and experiment with new techniques. This camp will expand your artist’s visual awareness and encourage creativity. Baseball General Manager Camp Date/Time: July 13-16; 9 AM - 3 PM Cost: $125 Location: 7th grade den Ages: Boys and girls entering grades 5-10 Campers will learn how to evaluate players, draft a team, make trades, set lineups, and make strategy decisions in order to put together a winning baseball team. Strat-O-Matic baseball game, a baseball simulation game that has been around since 1961, will be used as the teaching tool. Campers will also be encouraged to watch the homerun derby, Major League All-Star game, and will have the opportunity to attend a Sounds game at the new ballpark in Nashville. A short history lesson on some of the key players who have played the game will be included. At the end of camp, each participant will receive a Strat-O-Matic game. The Nashville Sounds game will be July 16. Transportation will be provided.

SESSION 1 Date/Time: June 1-5; 8:30 AM - 2 PM (Bring water and a lunch.) Cost: $325 Ages: Dancers entering grades 6-12 This camp is designed to focus on your technique. Wherever you attend school or whatever dance studio you belong to, this camp is welcoming to anyone who desires to improve technique in a week’s time. Dancers will develop strength, flexibility, musicality, and core alignment in a variety of areas: ballet, lyrical, pilates, jazz, hip hop, conditioning, progressions, and flexibility. Instruction will be provided by some of the best dance teachers in the Nashville area: Robyne Kennedy, Robin Hargest, Erin Ellis Nash, Alicia McPhee, Lyndee Baker, Kaitlyn Ellis, and Zach Walker.

Robyne Kennedy Director of Dance and Academy Dancers Mrs. Kennedy has over 30 years of dance experience. She has been teaching, choreographing and coaching in the Middle Tennessee area for over 13 years at local dance studios and schools. Holly Shepherd Urbanowicz Drama Instructor Ms. Urbanowicz has directed and taught at Brentwood Academy for many years. She has also taught at Vanderbilt University, W.O. Smith Music School, Street Theatre Company, and the Boiler Room Theatre. Along with the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department, Ms. Shepherd founded The Starbright Players in Franklin, TN. She is the director and choreographer for The American Musik Show in Elspe, Germany. Location: Theatre While many camps focus on in-class instruction, we believe that you need to perform on stage to fully catch the passion for theater! Our camp offers a lively, interactive, non-competitive experience. Coming to camp guarantees you a role in a one-act show that will be cast on the first day of camp. There is no preparation necessary, as auditioning will be our topic of instruction on the first morning. The camp will close with a performance for friends and family. Enrollment is limited.

Forensics Date/Time: July 6-10; 9 AM - 12 PM Cost: $175 Ages: Boys and girls entering grades 6-8 Location: Upper School Room 202 Middle school forensics camp students will receive an introduction to competitive forensics, learning techniques and methods for ultimate success in the activity. Campers will develop a performance piece that may be used during the season.

Mandarin Chinese Culture Date/Time: July 27-30; 9 AM - 12 PM Cost: $150 Ages: Boys and girls entering grades 9-12 Location: Upper School Room 206 Come and immerse yourself in the Chinese culture! Learn basic Chinese conversation, calligraphy, and brush painting. Experience Chinese pop culture and explore 5000 years of Chinese philosophies and ancient toy-making. Create and taste rice dumplings and become familiar with traditional Chinese festival foods.

Robotics Date/Time: July 6-9; 9-11 AM Cost: $130 Ages: Boys and girls entering grades 4-6 Location: Middle School, 8th grade den Campers will use the Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0 robotics kit to build their own robots and program them to perform all types of actions. Campers will learn and use a design methodology that will teach them about the new motors and sensors that their robot can use.

Ryan Hubbard Director of Forensics Mr. Hubbard teaches and coaches speech and forensics at BA. He has 14 years of forensics experience and involvement. Irene Moser Language Instructor Mrs. Moser has been a language teacher for 15 years. She earned an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Since 2006 she has worked at Nashville Chinese School as a teacher and principal. Kristin Phillips Middle School Science Instructor Mrs. Phillips is in her second year of teaching sixth grade science at Brentwood Academy. She coaches the girls’ middle school cross country team as well as the varsity softball team. Science Habitat Date/Time: June 15-18; 9 AM - 12 PM Cost: $130 Ages: Boys and girls entering grades 2-5 Location: Middle School, 6th grade lab Campers will make their own personal earthworm habitat and observe behaviors of their earthworms throughout the week. Each day campers will learn about how earthworms can benefit gardens and interact with other organisms while recording their observations in their personal observation journal. At the end of the week students get to take home and enjoy their earthworm habitat!

It employs modeling, group activities, and teamwork to help students retain what they learn during the course and apply it throughout the school year. The core curriculum includes organizational systems, time management methods, active reading, test preparation, memory techniques, learning styles, and note taking.
