Coach Husband has been the head coach of the BA boys’ varsity basketball team for seven years, guiding the team to a region championship in 2007. Rhonda Brown Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach Coach Brown was an All-American in women’s basketball at Vanderbilt where she led the Commodores to two SEC championships and a Final Four appearance in 1993. After Vanderbilt, she played professionally for five years including time spent in the WNBA, Turkey, and Israel. She recently completed her 11th year as the varsity girls’ basketball head coach. Her BA teams played in the state championship three years in a row from 2004-2007 and were the 2006 state champions. She has coached numerous players who have gone on to play Division I college basketball and has coached a Miss Basketball Finalist five of the last seven seasons. Fundamental Camp 1 Fundamental Camp 2 Date/Time: July 15-18, 9 AM-2 PM
Cost: $200 early registration; $215 after Ages: Boys entering grades 1-8 Location: Upper School Gym Fundamental Development Basketball Camp focuses on improving the most important aspect of the game—fundamentals. Campers of a wide age range and skill level could benefit from this camp. This camp is intense, energetic, and structured for those players who want to get better and improve fundamental skills such as defense, footwork, passing and catching, shooting, dribbling, and rebounding. This camp strives to build a foundation of fundamental skills that must be mastered in order to be an effective basketball player. Younger campers have fun and learn while older campers get hundreds of repetitions of fundamental skills.
Girls’ Basketball Skills and Player Development Camp Date/Time: June 17-20, 9 AM-2 PM Cost: $200 early registration; $215 after Location: Upper School Gym
Campers will learn skills to develop their game and make them an all-around competitor. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals such as shooting, boxing out, rebounding, defense, ball handling, and dribbling that are age-specific. Eight-foot goals are available for the younger girls.
Shooting Camp
Date/Time: July 8-10, 9 AM-12 PM Cost: $110 early registration; $125 after Location: Second Floor Gym in Athletic Fitness Center Everyone can become a better shooter, and this camp will teach campers how. The focus of this camp is on age-appropriate shooting skills. Players will have their shots broken down to help fix bad habits and learn how to shoot at game speed. Each player will leave a better shooter and with drills to help further her development. Smaller balls and lower goals will be used for the younger girls.
Offensive Skills Development Camp Date/Time: July 22-25, 9 AM-2 PM Cost: $200 early registration; $215 after Location: Upper School Gym This camp will focus on offensive skill development: shooting, getting open, moving without the ball, offensive moves, breaking down the defense, scoring, passing, and position work. All girls’ basketball camps are open to girls entering grades K-8.

Erick Kristianson With over 15 years of experience and multiple national titles, Coach Kristianson brings to the cheer world cutting edge skills in music and dance choreography. He currently runs a competitive cheer program in middle Tennessee while being the head coach at Brentwood Academy. Cross Country Date/Time: June 3-6, 8:30-11 AM Cost: $80 early registration; $90 after Ages: Boys and girls entering grades 5-8 Location: Meet at Track Proper running form, warming-up and cooling down effectively, structuring runs and workouts, and mental racing strategies will all be points of emphasis during the week. This camp is open to the beginning runner or a seasoned competitor. We will bus some of the days to other locations (Crockett Park, Radnor Lake, Percy Warner) to run.
Dodge Ball Date/Time: June 24-26, 9 AM-2 PM Cost: $90 early registration; $100 after Ages: Boys entering grades 3-8 Location: Second Floor Gym in Athletic Fitness Center Dodge Ball camp is more than just dodge ball. We will play other tried and true PE games such as Capture the Chicken, Mat Ball, War, and others. We will also have a Wii tournament.

Marshall Smith Varsity Boys’ Cross Country Coach Coach Smith is a BA grad (‘92) who went on to compete in cross country and track at James Madison University. He has coached boys’ cross country and track at BA in numerous roles over the last 13 years and recently finished his eighth year as the head coach of the boys’ cross country team. The camp will also include local kicking guru Charlie West, who has developed several local kicking stars for FBS colleges.

Varsity Football Coach Coach White is entering his 19th year in coaching. This previous season was his first at BA and ended with a state semifinal appearance. His previous coaching stops were in Texas and include Highland Park, Odessa Permian, and Denison. He will be entering his seventh year as a head coach. Ages: Boys and girls entering grades 4-8 Location: Theatre While many camps focus on in-class instruction, we believe you need to be performing on stage to fully catch the passion for theatre. Our camp offers a lively, interactive, non-competitive experience. Coming to camp guarantees you a role in a one-act show that will be cast on the first day of camp. There is no preparation necessary, as auditioning will be our topic of instruction on the first morning. The camp will close with an evening performance on July 26 for friends and family. Enrollment is limited.
Middle School Forensics Date/Time: July 8-12, 9 AM-12 PM Cost/Ages: $175, Boys and girls entering grades 6-8 Location: Black Box Theatre Middle school forensics camp students will receive an introduction to competitive forensics, learning techniques, and methods for ultimate success in the activity. Campers will develop a performance piece that may be used during the season.

Date/Time: June 3-7 (classroom work), 8 AM-2:30 PM Cost/Ages: $365, Boys and girls must be at least 14 1/2 years old (birthdays after Dec. 9, 1998) Location: Upper School Room 211 Students will learn the rules of the road and gain valuable driving experience. This course will also qualify students for discounts with most insurance companies. The required classroom work will be done June 3-7, 8 AM-2:30 PM. Date/Time: June 10-13, 9:30 AM-12 PM Cost/Ages: $175, Boys and girls entering grades 3-5 Explore the science of flight and motion through hands-on projects. Using catapults, water rockets, airplanes, and egg drops, we will look at why and how things move. Students will also enjoy a science-based snack every day as we discuss the science behind our food. Students will explore beginning science concepts of motion and gravity with catapults, sling shots, parachutes, and other fun items. Students will also enjoy a science-based snack every day as we discuss the science behind our food. Enrollment is limited. All science camps in Upper School Room 212
Robotics Date/Time: July 8-11, 9-11 AM Cost: $90 early registration; $105 after Ages: Boys and girls entering grades 6 and above Location: Middle School, 8th grade den Campers will use the Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0 robotics kit to build their own robots and program them to perform all types of actions. Campers will learn and use a design methodology that will teach them about the new motors and sensors that their robot can use. Enrollment is limited.
SAT/ACT Strategy and Math Date/Time: June 17-20, 1:30-4 PM Cost: $150 Ages: Boys and girls entering grades 10-12 Location: Upper School Room 206 Every minute and every question matter on the SAT and ACT. Students will focus on strategies for answering more questions correctly and for answering questions more efficiently. While we will consider strategies for all portions of the exams, the camp will provide a strong emphasis on the math sections.

Study Skills Instructor Mrs. Delvaux has been a time management, organization, and study skills instructor for 19 years. She has 20 years of classroom teaching experience, including nine years teaching grammar at BA. delvaux7@comcast.net
This system is designed to help students with organization, time management, and study skills. It employs modeling, group activities, and teamwork to help students retain what they learn during the course and apply it throughout the school year. The core curriculum includes organizational systems, time management methods, active reading, test preparation, and memory techniques.
