This approach is based on identifying Brevard’s rapidly evolving industries and engaging partners and stakeholders in industry, education and workforce development. The goal is to align resources with the skills needs of these critical industries based on data and industry validation. Developing Brevard’s workforce with the skills necessary to advance their careers or to re-enter the workforce quickly, is paramount.

Our Services

Career seekers attended Recruiting events and job fairs

The support in planning and execution of our event hosted at the CareerSource Brevard location was exceptional. While having partnered with other organizations to host similar events, this was the first with this team and I felt as though they were in complete lock-step with our needs and requests. I could not have asked for more from an organization that was not an actual component of the military base itself. Exceptional! - Doc Massard, Northrop Grumman Corporate Military Talent Acquisition Lead Strategist

GRANT-FUNDED PROGRAMS

Building the Talent Pipeline

Take Aim Brevard

CareerSource Brevard studies the region, the state and the nation when bringing best practices to Brevard. Through grant funding, we are able to make these practices a reality and enhance the opportunities available to Brevard’s workforce. There are many “wins” along the path to managing a grant program, however real success is helping a business thrive or a career seeker attain employment that leads to self sufficiency.

The Manufacturing Sector Strategy program has achieved many notable successes by facilitating an effective community partnership that is solving current and future local talent needs. Partnership wins include: The opening of Brevard Public Schools’ Bayside Manufacturing Academy serving 120 students and the acquiring of funds needed to modernize Eastern Florida State College‘s Manufacturing Training Center.

Many of CSB’s sector strategy initiatives are launched from the receipt of grants. The programs built around meeting each grant’s deliverables, are evidence of CSB’s sector strategies at work. The main goal for each of these sector strategy programs is to address the workforce issues within Brevard’s industries, which includes building a talent pipeline, finding solutions to skills gaps, and focusing on talent attraction strategies.

Partners include: Brevard’s manufacturing companies, Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast, Regional Manufacturing Association of Florida’s Space Coast, The Pastors Community Alliance, Brevard Public Schools, Eastern Florida State College, Florida Institute of Technology and Brevard Adult Education.

CareerSource Brevard, in collaboration with its industry partners and the community, is “taking aim” on critical workforce issues. Clicking on the Take Aim BREVARD logo seen here, will take you to a web portal designed to facilitate communications among each of the sector strategy program partners: the manufacturing program, now in its third year, and the healthcare program, launched in 2016. And on the horizon, you’ll see Information Technology and Aviation and Aerospace sector strategy partners at work.

GRANT-FUNDED PROGRAMS The Healthcare Sector Strategy program, also known as the Brevard Healthcare Sector Consortium, has been embraced by Healthcare Workforce industry employers and partners from workforce and education. The consortium is focused on ensuring that Brevard County can, and will continue to, produce skilled talent to meet the current and future workforce needs of its local healthcare industry organizations. Three industry-led committees were formed and began addressing the shortage in skilled talent. The committees focus on ways to improve 1) Staffing, 2) Education, Training & Technology, and 3) Soft skills. Early in its program year, the efforts of the Brevard Healthcare Workforce Consortium have solid numbers to report.

GRANT-FUNDED PROGRAMS Hurricane Matthew Grant After hurricane Matthew passed, the CSB team was introduced to the devastating impact left on Brevard. Having experienced the hurricanes of 2004, seasoned CSB staff had the insight to submit an early grant request that included the details necessary to receive adequate funding to assist Brevard with recovery efforts. Damages posed safety hazards to residents and visitors, and threatened thousands of acres of Brevard’s eco system. CSB focused resources on the areas that sustained substantial damage and areas that would typcially take years to receive restorative support. These areas included: Canaveral National Seashore, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, City of Cocoa Beach, City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County Parks and the City of Palm Bay. Grant Fact: The amount of debris removed in Brevard County from Hurricane Matthew was 20 percent more than the amount removed from Hurricanes Charlie, Francis and Jean!
