SYNOPSIS Cody and Daniel have taken the same hunting trip for over 20 years. Somewhere along the way, however, Cody ate some bad venison and became infected with “prions,” a brain eating bacteria commonly referred to as “mad cow disease.” As his symptoms worsened, Daniel’s ex-girlfriend Crystal positioned herself as caretaker, and the two of them live in a trailer on the outskirts of town. Daniel arrives at Crystal’s to take Cody on their annual hunt, though it is clear Cody is no longer “all there.” Daniel suits up the delusional man anyhow, and they take to the woods. Crystal wakes to find a VHS tape in Cody’s place. Horrified, she pops it in the VCR and watches the disturbing content. In the footage, Daniel explains that upon Cody’s diagnosis, they made a pact: once Cody’s sanity slips and he is no longer himself, Daniel is to put him down. Today is the day he intends to hold up his end of the deal. With little time to intervene, Crystal calls her current boyfriend, police officer Mathias, who rushes to her aid. It is here that we get lost in the thrill of the chase. Can Daniel go through with the pact? Will Mathias be able to stop him? This story is about moral code, integrity and the questionable ethics of a pact. Is it right that Daniel should honor his friend’s wishes and aid his passing? To be politically incorrect, it’s a story about the backwoods way of pulling the plug for a suffering loved one.
CHARACTER RUNDOWN Daniel A classic anti-hero. Once the golden boy of his Podunk town, this big fish got kicked around when he left his small pond. Out of shame, he distanced himself from his high school sweetheart Crystal. He’s a loyal friend to Cody and a man of his word, even to a fault.
Cody Cody was the lovable class clown and a star-wrestling champ. His life was cut short upon contracting a brain-deteriorating disease caused by prions after eating a bad deer.
Crystal A small-town hot homecoming queen, but a popular girl with a bleeding heart. She dated Daniel growing up, and Cody became like a brother to her. She took on the responsibility of caring for Cody after high school.
Mathias Another classmate of the gang. In high school, he was the underdog on the wrestling team, and was always in the shadows of Cody and Daniel’s limelight. Post high school, he joined the marines, which lead him into a career in law enforcement. Now the local stud, he has finally won the heart of Crystal and will do anything to keep it.

AUTHOR’S NOTE The Last Hunt is our champion project for our new production company, which will specialize in making character-driven films in the style of the “American tall tale.” Our interest is to bring back the iconic style of film making that made us fall in love with the medium. We want real actors who can deliver heavy stories, and not sacrifice artistic integrity for commercial gain. As we continue to create content, we aim to develop a troupe of actors along the way with an unusually diverse palate that could be reused in future projects.
Our ideal troupe should be capable of improvisation
and playing multiple characters convincingly. We want chameleons to help us grow a franchise that maintains a firm foundation in craftsmanship. We want to create opportunities for the most talented in the field, regardless of race, gender, notoriety or age. We won’t shy away from using makeup, gender bending, and suspended disbelief in order to create something authentic.
