Yearend/start of new big THANK YOU to all my fellow members, especially the infamous lunch crowd. What a fast yet interesting year for our Lodge. Everyday seemed to bring about something new, different, or just plain odd. I would not change a thing! I have found our Lodge members are most generous, kind hearted and caring folks. Cain’s question to GOD is answered yes daily…we are our brother’s keeper and our great members are proof through their actions/deeds.

A happy safe 2023 to all! Arnie

PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Happy New Year!

January 2023 is here. I would like the thank all the volunteers who made the last 9 months of events and regularly scheduled meetings successful. December was very busy. Beginning with the Christmas float. Michelle Braschler as chairperson and a league of volunteers and those who donated all items to make it a success. The WOTM for the Hot Chocolate and Breakfast for the children. Margaret Pryde for taking on the New Year's Eve celebration.

I want to congratulate District 12 and Legion 176 for their successful year.

As a reminder election for the board of officers is fast approaching. If you are interested in keeping our lodge at the top, consider becoming a member of the board. See the administrator or any Board Officer and get your name on the list.

Make a difference, volunteer, be involved and attend meetings to be informed. We are looking for a volunteer to chair the Valentine’s Day event for Feb. 11th, contact any officer if you would be interested.

Fraternally, Roger Cowan, President

Senior Regent’s Message

Happy New Year!!

Year 2022 has come and gone; and, we are still in for many WOTM activities and fun-filled events happening in 2023 and throughout the remainder of the current fiscal year. We are always in need of volunteers. Look at the monthly calendar and see if there are any events that sound like fun to get involved in. As always, a special “thank You” to all our volunteers that assisted and participated with/in the Children’s Christmas Party, Bingo Concession and Alice in Wonderland Community Escape Challenge.

A call is out for anyone interested in becoming more involved with the WOTM planning and business agenda for the next fiscal year – May 2023 through April 2024. Last month, an encouraging nudge was sent to remind ladies that may have an interest or questions. Submissions are now being accepted. Our current Board welcomes all to come and join us in leadership!!! Thank you in advance for all considerations.

We have a few new members…Welcome to our team and looking forward to sharing many successes!

We hope that you have a lot of energy, because you will need it to enjoy all of the opportunities to gather, fellowship and engage in the calendar events that are available to you because of your membership to one of the greatest Chapters. We are excited for your wonderful addition and we have no doubt the difference that you will instill in our Chapter. Again, thank you for joining WOTM Stockdale Chapter 1203. YOU ROCK! Members, if you see a new face, say hello with the biggest MOOSE SMILE you can offer.

Well, I must go for now…See you around the Lodge!

From the Desk of the Treasurer

Moose Good Samaritan

So many Moose members and family were sick in December with colds, flu, and pneumonia. I do not know all that were ill, but I know firsthand it isn’t pleasant as I too have had this cold/flu that is going around. It seems to hang on forever! Sending healing prayers to all including Frankie Wysocki, Robyn Tennison, Mike Stamper and Glenn Holland. Here is hoping January brings relief.

Carol Craig is home recuperating. She fell and broke her right collarbone. Sending healing prayers for a speedy recovery. Robert Ruiz is home recuperating nicely and we wish him all the best.

December was sad as long time Life Member Trudy Coy passed on November 21st. Robert Robison’s son, Chris, passed on December 21st. We are sending loving prayers to Robert and Charlene and their family on the loss of this young man. Kenneth Stoner, Pismo Lodge member and frequent at our Stockdale Lodge, passed on November 29th. We know this is a difficult time for Maureen Del Papa, his loving companion.

Please contact me if you know of any of our members and Moose families that need help or assistance, or Prayer Warriors. Good news is always welcome, so please let me know of any weddings, new babies or grandbabies. You can contact me at cmyersmainland@bak.rr.com or text/call (661)3330029. Or there are forms on the table outside the Chapter office that you can fill out and leave me information.

MOOSEOFTHE MONTH

The Moose of the Month is awarded by the President to show our appreciation and thanks for helping around the Lodge. We have members of our Stockdale Moose Lodge that go the extra mile for their fellow Moose Members and volunteer in our Lodge. For this we acknowledge their efforts as Moose of the Month. Volunteers are very important members in our Lodge and we are blessed with some very good ones. Speaking of volunteers, I wish to congratulate:

Michelle (Micki) Braschler Fields

as our January Moose of the Month in recognition for the hard work and leadership in chairing the Stockdale Moose Float in the Bakersfield Christmas Parade. Micki did a fantastic job and the float was beautiful! She always participates in Moose events and loves being a Moose member. When you see her, please thank her for her support of our wonderful Lodge.

Thank you for all you do!

For those new members that may have noticed, there is a designated parking spot outside of the Lodge for the Moose of the Month. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THIS SPOT. You too can be Moose of the Month someday.

Who is ready for some Shuffleboard??

It’s time to start our 2023 Shuffleboard Tournaments!!

Our January event will be on the 21st. The cost to play is $10 and that money goes into the jackpot for the two winners.

There is always a delicious lunch that is provided also, but there will be a change in the price due to the cost and inflation of food prices. Last year we vowed to keep it the same as before, and did, but that is no longer feasible to do so as we all know. The price for lunch will be $10 and is still a bargain for what all is available to eat. Everyone that participates in the game always has a fun time and it makes my wife and I MOOSE PROUD to put it together. So, let’s start the new year off with a full roster of 16 players. Who is ready??

Our tournaments are usually held on the third Saturday of each month unless there is another Moose activity that coincides with that day in the social quarters. If that happens, I will switch weekends. The sign-up sheet will be posted by the kitchen door on the 1st of every month. Also, if you see the first 16 slots are filled, please sign up on the reverse side because we always have cancellations due to people’s schedules changing. Show up time is 10:30, team draw at 10:45 and games start at 11:00. Lunch at 1:00.
