Q: A:

WHEN DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER YOUR LOVE FOR THE WORLD OF MAKE-UP AND BEAUTY? I have always had a great appreciation and love for all things beauty. When I was 17 I began to work in retail as a fragrance consultant and I was surrounded by cosmetics and makeup artists. My interest quickly changed from fragrance to cosmetics and I fell in love with the world of makeup from the very first time that I picked up a brush. Women would ask for my help in the store and I never hesitated to give my advice - it felt so natural to me and I loved the feeling of making a woman feel pretty. On the first day of the job, my obsession for makeup and beauty began. I was determined to become a makeup artist and the rest is history. I began to research and study makeup, build my portfolio and assist world renowned makeup artists for the next six years.

Q: A:

WHAT WOULD BE ONE OF THE CHALLENGES YOU HAD TO OVERCOME TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE

TODAY?

There are many challenges I’ve had to overcome over the years. The first that comes to mind is my parents. It was difficult for them to accept that I wanted to be a makeup artist and I actually hid it from them for the first couple of years. They had different dreams for me. They immigrated to the US from Montenegro to make a better life for their family and put us through school so when I decided to be a makeup artist and skip college they were not happy to say the least. I eventually did go to college but I never changed career paths, thankfully. I used that challenge to my advantage - it pushed me to work really hard and prove to my family and myself that I would be successful. My plan worked out and today my entire family is proud of me and they love and support what I do.

Q:

YOU’VE WORKED WITH A LOT OF CELEBRITY CLIENTELE, CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THAT “IT” MOMENT WHEN YOU MADE THE JUMP UP TOWARDS

BEING A CELEBRITY MAKE-UP ARTIST? I get asked this question a lot from aspiring makeup artists looking to break into the industry. For the first few years, I really paid my dues and worked very hard building my portfolio and assisting makeup artists. Most of the time, I was not getting paid at all but I was learning from the best in the industry and assisting on huge sets with major photographers and clients. During these years, I honed my skills as an artist and prepared myself for that “it” moment. A photographer friend of mine had called me one night and asked if I would do makeup for Kim Kardashian for a magazine cover the following day. Kim’s show on E! had just completed filming season 1 and she was quickly becoming a star. I took the job and Kim really loved my makeup and we hit it off. She began to book me for jobs, magazine covers and her show and the world began to take notice. When the opportunity came, I was prepared and trained for it all and that’s the most important thing.

A:

Q:

YOU DO MAKEUP ON TONS OF CELEBRITIES EVERY YEAR FOR THE RED CARPET. WHAT DO YOU THING IS THE BEST WAY TO ADAPT A RED CARPET LOOK FOR A BRIDES WHITE CARPET DAY? I think the best way to adapt a red carpet look for a bride is to keep the look classic and timeless. Celebrities can be experimental with different trends but I think a bride’s makeup should not be too trendy. If blue metallic eyeliner is currently a trend, that can work on the red carpet but not so much for a bride. A bride should always look radiant and like the best possible version of herself. You don’t want to look at your wedding pictures 10 years later and say “what was I thinking?”

A:

Q: A:

DO YOU HAVE A SECRET WEAPON MAKE-UP TOOL?

Almost all of my brushes are secret weapons, especially the ones that I’ve had for many years. My individual lash curler is great too. It lets me get to the corners of the lashes very precisely. The beauty

blender sponge is another favorite tool. Nothing blends makeup as nicely as the beauty blender.

Q: A:

WHAT IS THE MOST OVERLOOKED FEATURE ON THE FACE?

I would say the cheek bones. I think every woman owns mascara and lipstick but not all own a great highlighter for their cheeks. A nicely highlighted cheek really makes a difference on the face and also looks very youthful, especially on a bride.

Q: A:

HOW DO YOU DESCRIBE A TYPICAL BRIDE?

I’ve worked with many brides in my career. From my sister to Royalty in Dubai and Malaysia to A-list celebrities and everything in between. From my experience they are all very excited, anxious, nervous at times and just gorgeous. .

Q: A:

IN TERMS OF LIFE, AFTER A LONG DAY, WHERE DO YOU GO TO UNWIND? DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE

SPA?

I love the Kinara Spa in West Hollywood for a relaxing and great facial but my favorite place to unwind is my mother’s house. I’m a total mama’s boy. When I’m with her, she takes good care of me and cooks me the best food ever. I’m actually at her house right now and she’s cutting up apples for me as I type away lol. So cute.

Q: A:

WHAT WOULD BE ONE UNIQUE THING ABOUT YOU THAT WE MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU? Hmmm…. I’ll give you two things. I speak fluent Albanian and this one is embarrassing but I’m 31 and still don’t know how to drive.

Q: A:

HOW DO YOU DEFINE BEAUTY?

Beauty is subjective and hard to define but for me, beauty gives me a feeling or sense of happiness when I come in contact with it or see it. I think the literal definition of beauty is pretty accurate - “the qualities

in a person or a thing that give pleasure to the senses or the mind.”

Q: A:

WHAT KIND OF MAKE-UP TRENDS CAN WE EXPECT FOR THE SPRING BRIDE? Glowing skin for sure. Liquid liner on the eyes. Soft shades of berry on the lips and iridescent and dewy shades of white/pinkish eye shadow.

Q:

YOU’VE DONE SUCH BEAUTIFUL WORK ON SO MANY CELEBRITIES. WHO HAVE YOU NOT WORKED ON THAT YOU’D KILL TO GET INTO YOUR CHAIR? Beyonce and Lady Gaga amongst others!

NOT ALL BRIDES HAVE THE MONEY FOR PROFESSIONAL SKIN TREATMENTS. WHAT ARE SOME TRICKS A BRIDE CAN DO AT HOME TO HELP HER SKIN LOOK HER BEST ON HER BIG DAY? First off, use SPF everyday, exfoliate your skin lightly every day and moisturize obviously. I also recommend the clarifying, moisturizing and brightening masks by Karuna Skin Care. They are not too expensive, are so easy to use and will leave your skin glowing. Try not to get a professional facial or wax your face right before your big day! Makeup does not sit well on areas of the skin that have been recently waxed.

On the eyes I applied Sigma’s Eye Shadow Base in Persuade.(2) I used that as a base and shadow in one. In the crease of the eyes and along the lower lashline I swept a bit of Cork shadow by MAC. I lined just the upper lid with MAC’s Smolder pencil and finished the eyes with L’oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon black. I framed the face and hollows of the cheeks using Smashbox Bronzer in Suntan Matte. To highlight the cheeks and inner corners of the eyes, I used Eye M Glam Highlighter by Giella.com. I swept Dior’s Rosy Glow Healthy Glow Awakening blush in Petal - pink rose onto the apples of the cheeks. For lips, I applied Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella and blotted with a tissue. to soften the color a bit.

I started out with Tatcha’s Supple Moisture Rich Silk Cream all over the face and neck. To even out the skin, I used Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer(4) and concealed under the eyes with Make Up For Ever’s Lift Concealer. I set the skin with a bit of L’oreals Translucide Naturally Luminous Loose Powder. Brows are filled in with the Angled Mechanical Brow Pencil in Medium by Sania’s Brow Bar.

From the Beauty Editor

16

BridalBeautyMagazine.com

Hey Bridal Beauty Readers! This is Kristine Marie, your Sr. Beauty Editor. I am so excited this issue is being released and I cannot wait to hear the reaction from you all. My Team and I have worked extremely hard for this and we are all ecstatic to see all our hard work pay off! This Issue was a HUGE accomplishment for Bridal Beauty and we are happy that we had such a significant role in the making of this magazine. This Magazine is a huge part of me and it has become very prominent in my life as well. I absolutely love working alongside such talented people and it is amazing what kind of work gets done when everyone is in the same mind set! For every issue there is a theme. The theme for spring is BEAUTY. This is our greatest and biggest magazine of the year for many reasons, and it is also the hardest issue to work on as well. Right from the start of when the theme was decided upon both Amanda and myself realized that this one would be HUGE. It’s bigger, it’s better, and it’s BEAUTY! We have about twice as many beauty based articles, we have additional Editorials, we have more makeup tips, more how-to’s and so much more! Every article that was chosen for this magazine was hand picked for a reason and was placed in a specific section. Many meetings and phone calls were made throughout the designing of this Issue as we added and changed sections constantly. Probably one of my favorite articles that I had the privilege of writing for this magazine was about oil pulling! It is probably one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever done but also probably one of the healthiest! It is a crazy old trend that is coming back and I hope you all read about on page 23. Many guest hair and makeup artists were at our photo shoots and we planned each shoot very carefully with much detail. There are so many different kinds of beauty and we were very specific to every detail. Models, Makeup, Hair, Jewelry, Dresses, Head Pieces, articles, Real Weddings, Breakdowns, and celebrity choices are only some of the many deciding factors that went into creating this magazine. One thing I absolutely LOVE about this issue is the editorials. We went to a fabulous location for our Fashion Editorial, and the Car we used for the Beauty editorial was vintage, sexy, rare and shiny! These were very long days on the set, yet completely worth it once the photos were seen! We all had a lot of inspiration for this particular Magazine and one of them was the color theme. Radiant Orchid! It is the color of the year and it is also the color theme of the Beauty Issue. In this Magazine, there is a Radiant Orchid Products list and a makeup How-To Step-by-Step. We tried incorporating this vibrant color everywhere we could. This color is beautiful and Emma Stone made sure it was a color that she looks stunning in! It is a statement color and it speaks volumes when applied in different ways. My very talented Beauty team and I have worked very hard to make this issue something that we can all be proud of, and after many late nights I think we have finally done it! Your’ Sr. Beauty Editor

Kristine Marie

Like, is there anytime Olivia Wilde doesn’t look good? That jaw, those eyes, she’s pretty damn awesome. Even heavily pregnant in Valentino at the Oscars she managed to look serene and put-together and yes I know - team of makeup artists etc. Speaking of which, here’s what Revlon used (she’s a brand ambassador) to get her face that fab. Makeup artist Melanie Inglessis went for a French screen siren look. “We wanted the look to be simple and classic”, she said. So, dish? “I created a very precise eye that makes a statement but still works well with her fresh skin and light peach lips.” Here’s what to use.

TOP 10 Foundations

1.

This cult favorite goes on like a second skin. It lasts all day and is even more gorgeous with the Makeup Forever HD setting powder. The only drawback is that it’s better suited for normal-oily skin. If you have dry skin make sure you moisturize heavily before use.

SMASHBOX - Liquid Halo HD, $42; Smashbox.com This award winning foundation is next level. It bends light to create the illusion of flawless skin.Celebrity makeup artist Jordan Liberty says “It’s almost like having your own lighting crew with you”.

2.

MAKE UP FOREVER HD Foundation, $42; makeupforever.comics.com

5.

CARGO - Picture Perfect HD Pressed Powder, $32; cargocosmetics.com I’ve honestly never really used powder foundation before a model brought this in for me to use. I was amazed at how gorgeous this was and how flawless it left the skin. You can use this product alone or on top of liquid foundation for extra full coverage.

FACE ATELIER - Ultra Foundation, $42.99; camerareadycosmetics.com

It’s called Ultra for a reason, this silicone based foundation glides on top of the skin leaving you looking completely flawless. The really cool thing about this brand is they have 2 mixers, one to lighten your foundation and one to darken. You don’t have to worry about finding your exact shade, plus most of us don’t have the same skin tone year round so you don’t have to buy more than one foundation. Another awesome tipyou can highlight and contour with the two mixers! 5

CHANEL - Vitalumiere, $55; Chanel.com Even though though this has an SPF of 15 it doesn’t flashback on camera which is really nice. It’s great for people with dry skin and it leaves a satin finish.

9.

URBAN DECAY - Naked Skin, $39; urbandecay.com This silky foundation has a demi matte finish. This one is a little like the Makeup Forever HD, you will need to moisturize liberally. A beautiful light foundation that can be built up for more coverage.

8.

BARE MINERALS I.D. Foundation, $27; bareescentuals.com Great for days when you don’t feel like putting on a lot of makeup. It’s good for your skin and leaves it looking luminous instead of cakey like some other powders do.

7. 10. BOURJOIS - Healthy Mix Foundation, $7-$8; asos.com MAC - Face and Body, $35; maccosmetics.com Some consider this MAC’s best foundation. The great thing about this one is it goes on very sheer, but the more you work with it the more full coverage it becomes.

This silky foundation has a demi matte finish. This foundation is considered a dupe for Chanel Prolumiere and a fraction of the price. It contains apricots for radiance, melon for hydration, apples for an anti oxidant, and ginger for energy. Which is probably why it also smells amazing,

MAKEUP & HAIR TIPS FOR YOUR

WEDDING DAY PRIME YOUR FACE:

To ensure your foundation stays put make sure to use a face primer. It prepares the skin for makeup and creates a protective base that foundation can ‘grab onto’.. This product will fill fine lines, and pores to create a smooth surface.

APPLY BLUSH:

To avoid looking washed out for photographs, make sure you apply a subtle blush to the apples of your cheeks. Smile in the mirror to ensure you pinpoint the apple exactly and gently blend the blush upward towards the hairline.

BROW BASICS:

Make sure to get your brows waxed 2-3 days prior to our big day. This allows time for any puffiness, or redness around the eye area to heal.

BRIDAL MAKEUP TRIAL:

Make sure you have your trial at least three weeks, but no more than 5 weeks, before your wedding. Remember that some foundations and/or powders look different in pictures, since they reflect light differently. If possible, get your makeup checked and photographed with a flash before the big day. Also, blend your foundation down the neck some to make sure your face does not look different from the rest of your body. Allow at least 45 minutes to an hour for makeup application. TAN TIPS:

If you plan on getting a spray tan for the big day, have a test run before your make-up trial so that your artist can see what color your skin becomes with the tan.

HAIR TRIAL:

On the day of your hair trial, bring anything you think will help your stylist understand the looks you love or the style of your wedding. Have a friend take a photo of you in your dress at a fitting. Bring a swatch of fabric if you think that will help.

ACCESSORIZE:

There are so many great hair accessories available now to add a gorgeous accent to your wedding hair. It will depend on the look you’re going for. For a more classical look, you might want to wear a Swarovski crystal brooch. Jeweled barrettes can be great.

OIL PULLING is an old tradition that has been brought back and is now the “Thing” to do. Before they had teeth whitener they would use oils like a mouthwash and it would work just as well, if not better. This concept is now back in society and it is growing to become a popular trend. There are articles, videos, and how-to’s EVERYWHERE. However, what they ALL fail to mention are the little details. Like what the oil tastes like and what other things the oil detoxifies in your mouth and body. Oil Pulling is not just for making your teeth whiter. When you swish this oil in your mouth for 15-20 minutes it is pulling the toxins and the bacteria from in between your teeth, off of your tongue, the roof of your mouth and it is clearing your skin and “healing” you from the inside out. This is why you pull before you eat, drink or brush your teeth in the morning. At Night when you are doing this it is flushing out the bad in your system so you are clean when you go to sleep.

The way it works is actually quite simple and very effective. I suggest this being done in the morning when you first wake up; before you brush your teeth, before you eat anything and especially before you drink anything! I also suggest that for the first week of your new routine you do this at night as well. You can use many different kinds of oils and they all work in similar ways. You can use coconut oil, sesame oil or even extra virgin olive oil. Another suggestion is to use already melted oil. Coconut oil is in solid form and it takes about 10 seconds for it to melt when you put a spoonful in your mouth. I personally always melt it before I oil pull so the texture does not bother me. I started oil pulling a couple weeks ago and I have reduced pulling from twice a day to just in the morning. The first time I pulled I only lasted for about 5 minutes, the second time I got to about 7 or 8 minutes and then in a couple days I got to about 18 minutes. It

definitely gives your jaw a workout and is difficult to keep the oil in your mouth. After about 3 minutes I felt that I was swishing a lot of my own saliva around with the oil. This is normal. Around about 7 minutes I like to spit the oil and saliva out, swish with a bit of water and then immediately replace it with new oil. I do this because it gives my mouth a break from the oil, but also because at that point the oil and saliva mixture is usually foaming out of my mouth and getting messy. So I just like to start fresh. After 15-20 minutes spit the oil out for the last time and I like to brush my teeth. I will swish with water first and then brush my teeth very thoroughly to not taste the oil in my mouth anymore. A great way to oil pull is while you are in the shower! If you take about a 15 minute shower or so it is the best way to keep track of how long you have oil in your mouth. Also it will distract you from the swishing and will help you keep the oil in your mouth longer than you would if you were doing nothing else but pulling. I have only been oil pulling for about two weeks now and I already see the results! My face has become very clear, my skin looks even and healthy and my teeth are whiter. I DEFINETELY recommend oil pulling for everyone. Especially if you have problematic skin or easily tinted teeth!

Alisha Boho Bride

Our Boho Bridal look is inspired by nature. She is a free spirit, who enjoys simplicity. Such as the loose wavy tresses, as well as the braided crown intertwined with flowers. The Boho Bride would literally run barefoot in the grass after raising her vows. The jewelry is simple with an opalescent tone. The free-style nature of bohemian brides finds inspiration in just about anything; be it the romance and beauty of nature, or antiqued vintage elements. Using materials and colors with earthy and organic feels can give a romantic and ethereal overall look. For the wedding dress think crocheted trim, antique ivory color and layered tiers to give a distinctively bohemian feel. Creams, or off-white antiqued lace. The makeup look is natural with a hint of color in radiant orchid, and purples to enhance her green eyes. Bronzer or cheek tint for blush to make those cheeks glow, and nudes or light colors for the lips. You only want to enhance your beauty, not mask it.

Elise Princess Bride

Our Princess Bride has been dreaming of this day her whole life. Classic elegance is the name of the game. Turn your wedding into a true fairytale by wearing a Cinderella or Snow White inspired wedding dress. The dress has a sweetheart neckline which is drawn in at the bodice accented with a jeweled waist and flares into a full skirt at the bottom. Her jewelry is statement with crystals, or rhinestones. Hair is pulled into a loose top knot , with her veil secured to the bun. Today’s updo style is not sprayed, pinned, and tucked to hide every loose hair. The look is pinned and tousled, leaving it soft and stylish. The bridal hair is romantic. Bridal makeup trends are soft and romantic to set off the hair and latest trends in bridal gowns and bridal hair. No longer do the lips have to be lined heavily and matte foundation with loose powder applied. While this is traditional, today’s bridal makeup is more radiant and natural. Today’s brides want to glow with elegance. Give your lips a hint of shine or light color for a pretty pout! Kissing lips will naturally lead to breathtaking beauty for your wedding makeup.

SHADOWS For your eye color

Picking the perfect eyeshadow can be a daunting task, but don’t sweat it. Use the tips below to achieve the perfect look for your eye color. Don’t be afraid to play in MAKEUP!

32

BridalBeautyMagazine.com

PERFECT

Green Eyes

For green eyes go with a more neutral tone, such as taupe. The warmer undertones are more flattering. If you pick a taupe shadow that has a little sparkle will bring out golden flecks in the irises of your eyes. Green’s complementary color is red, so any shadow with red undertones really makes green eyes pop such as Lavender, violet, and aubergine (eggplant). Shiseido “Limited Edition Eye Color Bar” $50 www.shiseido.com

Hazel Eyes

If you have hazel eyes, reach for rich, autumnal colors like browns, golds, and greens. Play with the colors in your eyes that you want to bring out. Use shimmering pans of dusky gold, rich chocolate, creamy bone, and forest green in Chanel Ombres Contraste Duo in “Khaki Discret, & Sable Emouvant” $42 www.chanel.com

BridalBeautyMagazine.com

Brown is a mix of all the primary colors, so there are a lot of options for this eye color. Try a vibrant cobalt blue hue to make those eyes pop. Use Estee Lauder Pure Color Five Color Eyeshadow Palette in “Blue Dahlia” $50 www.esteelauder.com. Another great choice for Brown Eyes is green. These tones come in a wide range of matte and metallic shades and will play up any flecks in brown. Use MAC eyeshadow in “Sumptuous Olive” $15 www.maccosmetics.com

Blue Eyes Use warmer tones to enhance, and to draw attention to your eye color. Use a warm golden brown. This color can also be applied in the crease of the eye in order to play up those baby blues. Use a palette such as: Lancome Color Design 5 Shadow Palette in “Chocolat Amande” $25 www.lancome-usa.com. Also Blue eyes can get lost in blue or green shadows, when looking for a trendy fall color opt for a purple shimmery hue such as: Lancôme Color Design Eyeshadow in “Amethyst Glam” $25 www.lancome-usa.com

WAY FACIAL 3 E

THE

veryone always wants the “salon experience” whenever if comes to getting a facial. And who wouldn’t; it’s relaxing and you are pampered like the princess you are.Your skin is treated with care, and your body is put in a state of relaxation. Your skin is cleansed, exfoliated, steamed, and treated for your specific skin type and problem areas. It can’t get better than that; a relaxing and enjoyable environment with a professional esthetician who’s main focus is to keep your body calm and to make your experience a good one. There is no comparison to pampering at the salon; however, results like a salon ARE possible.

La Prairie is well known around the world as a high

end luxury brand that specializes in skincare. They have products that range from a simple cleanser all the way to anti-aging formulas and specialized treatments. This is as close to an “over--the--counter” salon experience as you can get without actually going to the salon. The Cellular 3 minute Peel is great for in between salon visits. It uncovers the healthy beautiful skin that you have and with continued use you will watch your pores shrink and your skin become more firm to the touch. If you are wanting salon results this is a close substitute.

THE MILK MASK

35

Milk is great for shrinking your pores, brightening your facial complexion and softens your skin. Mix Âź cup of powdered milk with water making a thick paste and then leave on your face for about 20 minutes.

BridalBeautyMagazine.com

Homemade Facial Masks

THE SOOTHING MASK Take 2 tablespoons of honey and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar OR lemon juice and mix it together. This being on your face for 20 minutes it will help heal, and moisturize your face as well as balance the pH of your skin. This mask is perfect for damaged or broken skin.

THE LEMON FACIAL MASK

This mask moisturizes, lifts, and tightens your face. Take one lemon and mix the juice from it with 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt. Leave this on your face for about 20-30 minutes. It will start to tighten on your face as it dries. This also helps fade any acne or sun spot scars as well as keeping those blemishes from returning.

F

rom homemade facial masks to high end luxury products, depending on the products you buy/make and your skin type will always determine the results you see. However you also should take it upon yourself to pamper yourself every once and a while and go to the spa and get a professional facial so you can be treated like the bride-to-be you are. Every lady out there deserves to be pampered every once and a while, and also have beautiful skin ALL the time.

Cashmere BLOWOUT

42

BridalBeautyMagazine.com

THE

T

he Cashmere Blowout is the newest hair trend sweeping the country. The origin of the trend begins at a salon which Elle just named one of the “Top 100 Salons in America”, George the Salon. The Chicago Based Salon has released a blowout that will leave your hair as soft as cashmere.

T

he 45-minute, $50 straightening treatment begins with a texture spray that is blended with cashmere proteins and a marine derivative rich in minerals, essential vitamins and proteins. The lightweight formula penetrates deeply into the hair, adding lift at the roots and enhancing texture. While the hair is still wet, an elixir comprised of four oils (maize, argan, camellia and pracaxi) is applied from roots to tips, replicating the softness of cashmere. It also acts as an additional heat protectant -- smoothing away frizz and adding a glossy shine -- before the blow-drying begins. To achieve this look with your stylist, use two styling products together to achieve the cashmere result: Kérastase’s new Elixir Ultime Oleó Complexe, that smoothes and softens, and Davines’ Defining Texturizer, which gives hair a bit of texture.

43

Partially dry the hair, pulling at the roots with her fingers in random sections to build volume.Next, apply the Kérastase Elixir complex, which is quickly absorbs into the hair.

BridalBeautyMagazine.com

After getting a thorough wash and condition, add a root lifter, Kérastase’s new Lift Veritage. The first step so roots won’t go limp later.

Then add the Davines texturizer, which acts like a beach spray to create definition and hold. Normally you’d air dry after using the Davines, but for this particular blowout, use a dryer and round brush on 1 to 2 inch sections until the whole head is dry. You will be left with bouncy, volumized locks that are silky and manageable. The blowout even holds up for up to a week. And while you could technically try it at home, we all know that the pros have that magic touch.

How We Met

After contemplating joining Match.com for quite some time, Michelle decided to give the dating website a chance. Brian’s membership was about to expire and he was set on taking a break from the site for a while. Just one day after Michelle joined, she and Brian began a brief communication via email on the site. They exchanged phone numbers soon after, as Brian’s account would soon expire, and they both knew they wanted the communication to continue. Their first telephone conversation lasted several hours, and both recognized such a great connection they decided to meet in person sooner than later. In a few days, on Monday June 27, 2011, the two got together for their first date. They decided on Sunsets

in Neptune because of its casual outdoor setting and views. Dinner lasted a few hours but neither wanted the night to end just yet. They drove to Asbury Park and strolled the beach, getting to know each other. Their memorable evening concluded with hopes of a second date... and Brian’s receipt of a parking ticket (which he kept and later gave to Michelle in a Christmas card!) Oddly enough, Brian received two additional parking tickets on the couple’s second and third date. Maybe that is why the two enjoy riding bikes so much! Michelle and Brian’s relationship quickly blossomed, and it wasn’t long before they knew there was no one else in the world they would rather spend their life with.

Hair How-To

Soft & Wavy

2.Blow dry your hair wih a large round brush to provide

extra volume, from midways the air to the bottom of the tresses.

3.Use a styling spray like L’OREAL Paris Advanced

Hairstyle Lock It Weather Control Hairspray to tame frizz and fly aways and to ensure your style stays put.

4.Create a side part in the hair and section that hair away

from the rest. Then tease hair just behind the part to add extra volume at the crown of the hair.

5.Loosely curl the rest of the hair with The Sultra Bombshell

1.5 inch Curling Iron.

6.Comb the side part into the rest of the hair and pull back the hair above the ears loosely to the back

of the head and pin. Do the same with the opposite side ensuring to smooth the hair that was teased and combine seamlessly.

7.Pin both sections together and the back of the head. Finger comb the loosely curled tresses that were left out to finish the look.

Make Up How-To

Dreamy Natural

1.First using Urban Decay’s Smoked Palette create a bold and beautiful black Smokey eye. I suggest using Blackour, Backdoor, Mushroom and Kinky. I also suggest doing your eyes first, since they are bold dark colors and it is easier to catch fallout with no foundation on.

2. Next apply Clinique’s Moisture Surge CC

Cream Hydrating Color Corrector SPF 30 to provide long lasting coverage and protect your skin from the sun.

3.For your brows use Anastasia Beverly Hills

5 Element Brow Kit. Pick the right shade for your brows.

4.Apply a dusty rose colored blush to your

cheeks.

63 From the Bride: As childhood sweethearts, it was important for us to go back to the country setting in which we fell in love at 12 years old. We chose Crossed Keys Inn which is the picture perfect country setting, consisting of a huge, white billowy tent, a fire pit overlooking a valley, and acres of 18th century charm with farm houses, cottages, wild flower gardens, corn fields, and romance at every turn. We worked incredibly hard to ensure our personality and person touches were on every single aspect of the wedding. There were personalized welcome bags, a humorous church program, a “faux- first look” to allow us a few special moments before the wedding without losing the surprise of seeing me walking down the aisle, 100 days of love notes, personally designed invitations by the bride, the deacon officiating the ceremony knew the bride since she was a newborn, pictures of us throughout the years were spotted around each part of the wedding, an international beer bar highlighted the two years of traveling we did with each other, personalized signs for the bride’s grandfather by the fire pit and special dance with him after dessert since he was like a second father growing up. There was not an aspect of our day that did not go untouched.

Chris and Kathy were originally planning on getting engaged in Switzerland in the Fall of 2012. Chris began to get nervous about carrying the ring in his luggage on the international flight, so he decided to propose before they left. He hoped to propose at La Canada on a Sunday afternoon. However, his plans were foiled when Kathy discovered his plan on his iPad. Kathy told her friend, Yassie, that she was on to Chris’ plan. Chris then decided to surprise Kathy with an impromptu proposal at their apartment while they were cooking dinner!

Enchanted Garden From love potions and the magical hour of sunset to fairies and goblins, fantasy was the inspiration behind this inspirational wedding ideas, perfect for the colder months lying ahead. With the help of some talented creatives, we manipulated reality to travel to an enchanted pine forest, where the formality of traditional bridal couture made way for the softer, freeflowing gowns. We opted for green foliage with accents of mellow, burnished yellow to suggest the warming tones of sunlight that brightens the day. The gorgeous floral arrangements by echoed this theme. Reminiscent of a woodland wedding, every aspect of this shoot was thought of in a primitive, raw and natural way, embracing a bohemian sense of style and the camping trend that’s currently making big waves in the world of weddings. ntonio Gual for TULLE NEW YORK, is known for a combination of glamorous styling and exquisite nuances that make the collection so exceptional. Formerly a designer for Melissa Sweet, TULLE silhouettes are body-conscious, feminine, and ethereal while showcasing a contemporary bride with a desire to give and receive affection. It is always such a pleasure for us to sit down with the amazing team and especially Tulle designer Antonio Gual. I had the honor of sitting down with Antonio for bridal fashion week in October to view the new collection and talk about what inspires him as well as what is coming up for TULLE NEW YORK. I had so much fun learning about his new couture collection, but most of all, I loved learning about the designer himself. Check out the interview below to get a glimpse into the life of designer Antonio Gual.

How did you end up in your profession?

Entirely Melissa Sweet, we knew each other from long ago socially. When her company was bought and moved to New York, she contacted me to help on her line. The rest as they say is history.

The brides desire to be beautiful, I find that touching and endearing.

What is your favorite trend, look or dress right now? (Pick one!)

Gowns that are not strapless will be next.

Who, what and where inspires you?

Were there certain things that inspired you when you Inteligent, stylish and witty people envisioned this collection? such as Lauren Santo Domingo. Music I find inspirational. Italy inspires me.

What is the best part of your job?

The idea of creating beauty. Very few jobs require making something beautiful, that is my job.

What do you love about brides?

Butterflies, the flutter, the grace and the ephemeral existence, plus the fragility all made me incorporate much of that into this collection.

What was different about this collection and seasons past?

The emphasisfor this collection

was on movement, many of the gowns have tiered skirts that flutter. This collection is more romantic.

What is the one thing every bride needs?

A beautiful lush bouquet

Tell us a style secret that can make weddings look amazing?

I think less is more as far as "styling" a wedding.

Is there a piece of advice you give to brides when looking for a wedding dress?

When shopping for a gown, let go of all preconceived ideas, let go and allow a discovery phase to take place.

In terms of beauty looks, do you have dos and don’ts?

Always be grateful, and acknowledge all around you. Do not wear a lot of make up

What’s next?

We are very excited to announce that TULLE NEW YORK will be launching a second label.

83

My favorite trend would have to be, exposed backs. My Judy, Diane and Alicia share that. I like a more natural elegance, big fan of twinkle, not mad about bling.

7 Steps to Perfect a Perfect Ring Purchase 1. DESIRE The most important consideration when looking for the perfect ring is desire . Often, women and men get caught up in competitive bling-ing. In all reality, your wedding ring is about your personal relationship. The ring itself is merely a symbol of your loving bond. This is a time to show off, not only a beautiful piece of jewelry, but also a touching love story. Let the ring become a conduit of your fairytale’s journey and a constant reminder of the commitment and sacrifice made to one another. Be proud of the unity regardless of size.

2. PRICING As a newly engaged/wed couple you will most likely be forking out some serious wedding dough. Going to a retail chain jewelry store and racking up 22% interest on a financed diamond is probably one of the worst decisions made by uneducated ring buyers. Think about it, do you want to end up paying 10,000.00 for a 7,000.00 investment just because you pulled the trigger too fast? Or even worse, wives, do you want to combine

2

Bridal Beauty Magazine

finances and end up paying Zales for your own ring? No, the engagement clock is ticking and you want your sparkly diamond to be perfect, saving a set amount of money for a set amount of time allows you to create a budget, stick to it, and become educated about the market. Diamond shopping is not much different than shopping for a car or a home, a smaller investment indeed (usually) but important nonetheless. Once upon a time the rule said an engagement ring should be equal to three months salary. That does not mean you spend that amount before you make it!

3. VALUE CCCC What does that mean you ask? Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight. My advice, research, research, research! Know the basics, does she prefer a princess cut (square), a round cut, or maybe a cushion cut? a. Cut~ Knowing the cut is your first step in budgeting for the perfect diamond. Certain cuts are more brilliant, glittery, and hide inclusions or flaws more easily. This is going to really define the following C’s. b. Color~ Diamonds come in all colors from colorless, slightly yellow,

BridalBeautyMagazine.com

88

pink, blue, and even black. The color does impact the brilliance and the shimmer of your diamond; however, this may be an area to save money. The chart ranges from J to D with D most valuable and colorless. c. Clarity~ Diamonds are basically rated (and priced) on the perfectness. Clarity is of most importance. The GIA (Gemological Institute of America) rates diamonds based on the flaws that impair the light’s ability to pass through the diamond. The chart starts at flawless (FL), internally flawless (IF) very very slightly included (VVSI1 & VVSI2) and continues to decrease to included (I1, I2, I3). Knowing the difference and being shown the flaws you are purchasing is the correct way to make an informed decision d. Carat-Weight~ Most dominant reference point when gauging a diamonds greatness. Carat weight seems pretty simple the bigger the better right? Not necessarily, check out this sample I created for a reference. This is a 1.30-carat, princess cut, D color, internally flawless diamond and it costs 17,860.00 This is a 2.01-carat, princess cut, J color, slightly included 1 diamond and it costs 10, 180.00This is why research is important!

4. TRADITION What does the tradition of the bride to be dictate. Well, it could save you tons! Check with the friends and family of the bride. If an antique rock awaits her, prepare your speech and beg the guardian for her hand in marriage. Even if this ring isn’t her dream rock, the sentiment is important and the fact you managed to pry it from the family tree is priceless!

5. STYLE This is almost as important as the diamond! Again, consult the circle of trust and find out what type of setting you should chose. Some women (I hate to admit that I am one) are almost more interested in the setting than the actual diamond. If the recipient of this particular ring is into an antique look from Tacori you may have to lower your diamond budget to incorporate the designer setting. Knowing what your bride swoons over all day during her should-be-work hours is easy, check out her Pinterest! I can almost guarantee she is sporting a fantasy bride board that will give you her most inspired ring designs!

6. SIZING This is the easiest part. Check out her left ring finger

from time to time and take notice of any ring (costume or otherwise). If you can snag it while she isn’t paying attention, run to the nearest jeweler and have them measure it. Otherwise, ask! Ask her, her friends, her mother, someone is bound to know her size. It is far better to try and get close than to guess and need lots of sizing. The best scenario includes her putting this well thought out ring on, and never having to take it off again!

7. STORE Check online first. I suggest Brilliant Earth and their conflict free, super customizable options. Blue Nile, Tacori, and Tiffany all have online stores that allow you to build a custom ring. Once you have done all the research, saving, and online shopping you will be ready to shop retail as well. Local family owned jewelers tend to offer a personalized experience. Retailers like Zales or Kay may lack the quality for the price. Don’t buy into the commercial hype. Remember: this is an investment that you can later trade up or build upon. Often, the family jeweler will offer “grow your diamond” plans if your purchase from them. Always ask for a GIA certificate! Good luck and keep rule number 1 in mind. The process should be exciting and the result rewarding. If the pressure becomes too much take a step back and breathe. The right time and the right ring is out there waiting for you.

Jessica & Vitaliy Private Residence, Oregon Photography by: Organic Album - www.organicalbum.com

From the Bride:

The idea of everything blooming and coming to life was the main reason behind my inspiration. Imagining a couples romance blossoming into something beautiful, is a story that I’ve always dreamed of telling though my lens.

Look & Feel:

Ultimately, my main focus was to create a story so that the viewers can be captivated by the romance of this couple. I wanted it to feel whimsical and dream-like, while keeping it realistic and raw. Weddings/elopements are not just about capturing that classic portrait, it’s about telling the story of love between two people. Making it personal to the couple, yet relatable to the public.

Concept for styling:

Wedding Date: Apr 20, 2013

One of the significant concepts for the styling of this shoot, was the use of the white horse. The symbol of the horse represents power, strength and beauty, which is everything I wanted to bring out through these photos. We are all familiar with the white doves being released at weddings, which symbolize love and devotion. Using that idea as part of my inspiration is what brought me to use the white horse throughout the photo shoot. The horse symbolizes trust, innocence, and a strong bond between two individuals. The blossoming arch, French settee, ladder, table setting, etc, were all significant elements that helped bring everything together to complete this concept. It was important to stay within the vintage/organic theme, while keeping it an elegant and classic affair.

Our Love Story!

He first noticed me when I joined youth choir at our church... He secretly like me for a while until we went to youth camp that summer and he asked me for my number.. After that he started showing up everywhere I would go I was a little annoyed because I didn’t like him at that point... Then the more we hung out I started to like him and finally started replying to his texts and a couple months later he asked me go out with him on a date. He was a charming gentleman. We fell in love, got engaged and are now married.

99 From the Photographer: This wedding was at the most gorgeous venue in Rockford, Orchard Ridge Farms. The entire property created a breathtaking backdrop for this Fall wedding, and by the time of the ceremony, the sunset was absolutely flawless. Carly and Greg have such a unique story, something I truly enjoyed learning when I took their engagement photos, and when I heard wedding toasts. There is no doubt that God brought these two together, and every single witness that day would 100% agree, too. This Sunday wedding was not exactly close to where their friends and family lived, many even traveling in, but it was the largest crowd I have ever worked amongst. Such a huge testimony to how much love and support this couple has as they begin marriage together. So much creativity and beauty this day had! With Carly’s artistic talent, I was never bored with details and subtle personalized touches. Greg and Carly had the wedding day of their dreams, and I am so happy to have witnessed and photographed such a memorable day in their history! Enjoy!

Wedding Date: Sep 07, 2013

Rebecca & Brenden’s DIY Rustic Wedding in the Berkshires Rebecca and Brendan’s Wedding plan all started with the search for the perfect venue. Though originally searching in the Cape, because Brendan was raised in Pittsfield, MA the couple also started exploring the Berkshires as well. When they came upon the Bucksteep Manor, both Rebecca and Brendan fell in love-- it was the perfect combination of relaxed and rustic. Bucksteep, with its many charming traits boasted not only a place to host the ceremony and reception, but also comfortable lodgings complete with cozy fireplaces for those friends and family travelling in to attend the wedding. The overarching style of the wedding was a beautiful blend of contemporary hues, DIY details and rustic nuances. With an elegant palette of cream, butter yellow, grey and creamsicle orange accented with tawny champagne tones, the décor of the reception and the wedding party’s attire was a pure vision. Bridesmaids were each encouraged to select a unique ensemble that complimented the chosen palette. The décor for the reception was a team effort. Armed with plenty of inspiration thanks to Pinterest, Rebecca rallied her friends and family to help with the transformation of the reception barn and tent. The barn wall was glittering with vintage mirrors collected by the bride and each table was graced with a carefree mason jar of hydrangeas, freshly cut from both a neighbor an the mother of the bride’s gardens. Rebecca’s mom (who at one time was an electrician) strung and hung all the fairy lights. Rebecca, DIY maven, wanted to add a little whimsy and created some fabric garlands and strung pom poms to hang from the ceiling.. The hand lettered menu and personalized succulent wedding favors continued the DIY theme. With vintage touches, twinkling lights and the playfulness of pom poms hanging from above, the scene was at once ambient and magical. With an amazing spread of tasty entrees thanks to Brennans catering and a relaxed grounds keeper, the whole wedding weekend was an absolute dream. The outstanding team at dani fine photography was there to capture it all and document this beautiful DIY Rustic Wedding in the Berkshires.

Bringing Your

Inner Sex Kitten

to Life After a Long Day

You’re not the type of woman to let your relationship with your lover dwindle away once all is said and done and you’ve walked down the aisle. You’re not going to let yourself be another one of those wives who has no chemistry with their husband. Like all other areas of your life, you are focused on having a healthy and vibrant marriage, especially in the bedroom. You won’t be another one of those cliches.

Teasing is said to be one of the best types of foreplay, dont let your sex life get stale here are 10 things to do to turn up the heat before you get naked with your future hubby!

Then you realize how difficult this may be. Around the time people decide to get married, they have all kinds of other responsibilities piling up on them. You have work, meetings, and the long commute home. This will quickly turn any dreams you have of having a sex-filled marriage when you crawl up your front steps, utterly exhausted. Your man will probably be interested in a night of fun, but you will probably be imagining your favorite food, a hot bubble bath and cuddling up with something good to read. Many of us can’t feel this way when we get home after a long day. Sex requires a lot of energy. Sometimes we work too hard and don’t have enough time to please ourselves, so pleasing someone else seems like too much effort, even if it someone you love dearly. However, there are five ways you can get out of this bad habit to cringe away from love making and give your man exactly what he wants, and being surprised by what you get out of it as well.

There’s a reason why, out of the billions of other options out there in the world, you chose to marry this man. Think about how he made you fall for him, the words he said, the way he stared at you. Focus on what it is about him that first made your heart leap out of your chest. That connection is still there and can be unearthed if you put in the effort to think about your husband and everything about him that you love. Let yourself explore his body that you love so much and soon your mind will be spinning, and you’ll both be desiring the exact same thing. This will reconnect you and you will be happy that you decided to open up to him and not give in to your desire to shut yourself away.

{Focus on Your Husband}

{Think About a Memory } Think about those elevated points in your relationship. Even if things seem boring and mundane now, there are always those sweet memories to think back to. When your lips touched for the first time and locked into a passionate kiss, when you expressed your feelings about each other for the first time and shared what was in your hearts, when you cried and felt overtaken by love when he asked you to marry him. Thinking about those memories will bring your mind back to the time when all you could think about was your man, and your love for him always seemed to be at the forefront of your mind. Think about these moments and soon your heart will be surging again and you won’t be able to get enough of him when you see him after a long day.

{Lose Yourself in a Love Story} All women, no matter how much some may deny it, love a good story about two people falling in love. There’s something so sensual and appealing about a passionate and emotional love story with lustful kisses, hot sex scenes, and the emotion that comes up when these physical acts are engaged in. Watching a romantic movie can get your heart beating and your desires for romance being building up. Seeing a romantic and intense relationship encourages us to want the same thing, and we begin craving for it. You can also read a naughty scene in a book, and another even more daring option is to read it aloud to your hubby. Then you’ll both be ready to go and star in a movie of your own.

{Get Sexy} While it may sound amazing to sit around in your comfy clothes after a long day, that won’t get you or your husband in the mood. Be daring and put on some of that lingerie that’s been neglected for months, shoved away in your closet. Relaxing yourself and getting into your comfort clothes will not persuade you or encourage you to have a steamy night with your husband. Letting us sit around in tattered clothing can also affect our image of ourselves, and this will lead to even more hesitancy when it comes to sex. Even just slipping into something silky or lacy, putting on a touch of makeup, and freshening up your appearance can do wonders for your level of confidence, which can then lead to passion and desire. If you want to have a spicy, sex-filled marriage, then a little bit of effort in your appearance can go a long way.

{Tell Him Want You Want} Tell your husband what you love. Let him know by voice, or by moans. Many women have that sweet spot that drives them crazy

when touched in just the right way. Let him know what’s working for you and the passion will keep building. Let him know what makes you wild and the heat will keep getting hotter. Give him direction so that there will be pleasure on both ends, and both of you won’t be able to get your hands off of each other. Don’t expect too much out of yourself and your marriage. Not every second can be filled with passion and desire. There will be low moments where you feel tired from work and have to focus on solely YOURSELF. This is fine. The cliché line “men have needs, too” is not something to completely dismiss. Men crave physical constant and if you please him, you will also please yourself. Stay in tune with each other’s desires and you will have a long a happy marriage that is filled with the ecstatic passion that made you fall in love in the first place. You are a vixen. You are a tigress. You are a woman and don’t let your marriage become bleak and passionless.

The Beaut y in

Boudoir

7 things to know before you knock his socks off!! All Images by: Alicia Swedenborg

BridalBeautyMagazine.com

127 Are you pondering what kind wedding present to get your groom? If you are, then one of the most meaningful gifts you could offer your man is Boudoir photos. Boudoir photos are erotic and since all eyes will be on you on your wedding day, your groom deserves a gift to feast his eyes on- you. If you are the modest type and don’t relish the idea of taking a nude photos, here are ten tips that will help you feel more confident during your bridal boudoir session. It is very important that you employ the services of a professional photographer to take your boudoir photos. How will you know that he or she’s professional? Well you will have to peruse his or her media profiles as well as all reviews from his clients on his website. More importantly, you will have to look at other boudoir photographs on their website to see if they epitomize eroticism. It is also important that you are comfortable with your photographer. Therefore it would be good to speak with him a number of times prior to the photo shoot. What kind of person are you? Do you consider yourself a Miranda Kerr? Or more the nerdy girl next door? Instead of not seeing the supermodel within yourself use your inner nerd or party girl or supermodel and let it shine. If you’re the nerdy girl a messy top knot and librarian glasses always makes guys have the naughty teacher fantasy. Big in to sports, pose in your favorite jersey and only that. Bring props to your shoot that represent who you are and make sure you have fun! The purpose of your boudoir photographs is to make your guy drool. Therefore, you have to give him what you know he loves. If he likes nurses, get a sexy nurse costume. If he’s the classic type, grab one of his shirts and only wear that. Be playful and fun it will show through on your photos!

3. Hair and Makeup

BridalBeautyMagazine.com

Don’t undermine the power of great hair and makeup in your photo shoot. Your hair and makeup should look just as good as on your wedding day. If you hire a professional photographer, he should have a team of hair and makeup professionals that will make you look all the more glamorous for your photo shoot.

128

4. Have Fun

1. Retail Therapy Buy something new that your man has never seen you in before. Let him see you in a different light. Explore different types of bras and panties. How about getting thigh high boots, garters and fish net stockings? Don’t be afraid to try new things.

You should relax and have fun during your photo shoot. If you have a favorite playlist take it along. Let down your hair and just bask in the moment. After all, it may be your first and last photo shoot as a single woman.

7. Be Confident in Yourself

5. Show Your Best Side

If you don’t feel confident, it will reflect in your photographs. The last thing you would want is to look like a lost kitten to your man in your photos. Therefore, flaunt your sexiness and beauty that man is marrying you for who you are it doesn’t matter is you need to lose 10 pounds or if you don’t like you hair that day all he will see is the women he loves!

2. Practice Looking Sexy Ever seen how sexy Marilyn Munroe looks in her photos? Well, if you want to get the “sexy look” right, then you need to practice before the shoot. You can practice your looks in the mirror while thinking about your plans to seduce your groom on your honeymoon.

Whatever poses or costumes you decide to wear, ensure that they highlight or enhance your best features. If you have a good photographer, he will give you tips for the photo. This will help you to relax and be comfortable enough to show your best sides.

6. Be Adventurous If you are an introvert, you may have to ditch that and explore the wild side of you. If you don’t have a wild side you may have to adopt an alter ego like Beyonce or Shakira and surprise your groom. Remember, that the photos are not for you, they are a gift for your man, so don’t be afraid to be a bad kitty.

You’re engaged! Congrats! Now let’s get down to the most important wedding planning detail: beautifying for the wedding and all those amazing little parties (and pictures) along the way. We’ve got the inside scoop from celebrities and the artists behind them- Tips and Tricks and 12 months of the prettiest hair and makeup. Bridal bootcamp for the perfect curves, sexy scents, the secrets to flawless skin, and how to grow your locks! Ladies welcome to your...

Bridal Count Down

12

MONTHS

Lengthen Your Locks The Natural Way

You’ve found the gown and it’s the perfect neckline, and of course you’ve decided you want your hair down in lush waves. Time to grow out your long locks for the big day. Start with a sound diet (extra protein) and a follicle booster (try Nioxin Diamax).

Bridal Boot Camp Time If your goal is to lose the extra pounds, or define your arms for that strapless gown (or both), you will want to figure out a wellrounded fitness plan. Make a routine, a mix of strength training, cardio, and stretching. Yes - stretching. It boosts your balance and flexibility, and creates leaner muscles. Contact a trainer and sign up for a gym membership or work your fitness plan at home!

cream, lasers, and skin lighteners, if you begin a regimen now. To improve your complexion, consider monthly facials and treatments like fruit-acid peels, which refresh skin’s outer layer. Microdermabrasion, a form of exfoliation that uses tiny crystals, is better for sensitive skin. Prices for both range from $100 to $200 per session.

Say Cheese Consult with a cosmetic dentist with as much lead time as possible if you have any chips or crooked teeth you want fixed. Straighter teeth can be achieved several ways, the time frame ranging from two weeks up to two years. A bride’s treatment plan depends on a variety of factors- how straight the teeth currently are, if there are any spaces, etc. So the minute that rock lands on your finger, your dentist should be the first call you make (well, after you tell your parents and friends, of course).

Purge and Splurge! Grab a big bag and toss out all those halfused and never-used jars, bottles, and tubes of products in your drawers. Then go splurge and stock up on a set of approved staples: cleanser, daytime moisturizer, night time anti-age moisturizer, and eye cream. You’ll be amazed at how you see the results in less than 4 weeks!

Become A Pro You have a year of fun social parties ahead of you. Why not learn to apply your makeup like a pro? Take a one-on-one lesson with a local makeup artist. Between your engagement party, showers, and bachelorette bash, you will be in front of a camera just as much as a hottest new celeb with the paparazzi!

6

MONTHS Clear it Up!

Blemishes you’ve tolerated. Acne, scars, sun damage- these can be diminished through treatments like retinol

Note: Take a chill pill. Stay calm and stressfree by practicing spending 15 minutes a day for just you! No wedding planning, No noise, tv, music; just you and deep-breathing techniques.

3

MONTHS

Makeup Time

Do research in your area and find the best makeup artist for your wedding day look. Book a consultation and take a friend with you because you need an honest opinion from someone who knows you.

Top it off

Start experimenting with your hair after you select your gown and a good three months before the event. When doing a consultation with a stylist (if you’re having your hair done at a salon), take any hair accessories you may consider wearing on the day of, your veil if you’re wearing one, and always, always bring pictures that will inspire the look you want to achieve. You don’t want something that is not you. You want something that will make you feel like yourself and will look great in pictures.

Bring on the sweat! Pilates and yoga are great for spot toning, but make extra sure to hit the running track or elliptical too to burn extra calories and get rid of the muffin top. Do intervals, speed up and slow down, run and walk.

Note: Keep your hair in perfect shape by moisturizing your lovely locks. For extra care, try a deep moisture treatment, like Total Keratin Obsession Deep Conditioning Treatment (andreawalkerhair.com)

2

MONTHS Polish Up

Sticking to that perfect skin care routine you invested in the earlier months? Awesome! Now boost the glow factor with an over-the-counter microdermabrasion kit like Mary Kay or a Clarisonic skin brush and grainy buffing scrub (our Editor’s choice).

De-tox Cut out the beauty zappers; caffeine, alcohol, and sugar! If you really want a detox power boost consider going on a juice cleanse or green tea! Or the Clean Cleanse (www.cleanprogram.com/clean-cleanse-new)

Needles? eeakk? If you do decide to get Botox, do it at least

with your hubby-to-be. No doubt at this point he’s ready to ditch the wedding and elope! He just wants you to remember that out of all the women in the world he chose you! Plan some romantic time with your lover- no wedding talk.

a month before your wedding to prevent any bruising or potential bad placement (you wouldn’t want a droopy eyelid in your wedding pics). And remember it doesn’t work overnight. It takes between three days and up to two weeks for it to kick in. If you do bruise easily, allow at least six weeks to make sure everything has settled down and your muscles have had time to respond to the treatment. You want to look natural and show your true emotions on the big day!

Note: Amp up your grin! Chances are you’ll want a brighter smile on your big day (hello, cameras!). You can go for an in-office treatment or choose an over-the-counter at home treatment.

1

MONTH Trim it!

Less than an inch won’t kill that perfect down-do! Part company with those fried, split ends and we promise you’ll feel better. Your hair will look fresh and healthy as you walk down the aisle.

2

WEEKS

Flawless Bride

Don’t panic right before the wedding and decide to get an overly aggressive cosmetic procedure! Your skin could have a reaction to any new treatments (think red, blotchy, broken out- not pretty). Do any treatments at least two weeks beforehand, though you can do a basic at-home facial mask one week before. Get an extra exfoliating treatment a month to two weeks before the big day to make skin really glow. And if the worst should happen and you wake up with a gigantic zit a day or two before your big day, swing by your dermatologist’s office for a cortisone injection to deflate it in a hurry.

Mani Time Show your hands some love! Time to pay attention to those fingers that carry a special stone on them. Everyone will want to see that sparkle on the wedding day! Supplement your usual mani/pedi by hosting a girls’ spa night with an in-home scrub, soak, and of course, Cosmos!

Go for a glow You will most likely want a beautiful glow on your wedding day and for your honeymoon. If you want to start building a base tan at home with sunless tanners, now is the time to start. If you choose to go with an airbrush tan you’ll want to go for a trial run to assure you aren’t looking like a worker from Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory! Skip the airbrush tanning machines that cause streaks and invest in an airbrush tanning professional (averaging $30-$65)

SLEEP!

Pamper Your Hair

There is no other treatment like it in the world! Sleep is your BEST beauty booster!

Get a straightening or relaxing treatment. Straightening treatments/relaxer should be done a week or two before the wedding. That way the treatment can settle into your hair and appear more natural. If you also need to have color done, have your hair straightened/ relaxed first, wait a couple of weeks and then

1

WEEK

Shape it, Arch It

Brows have more longevity than you think (a perfect shape will typically last for a week), so you don’t need to have them done right before your big day. Go to a salon or spa you trust (or comes highly recommended from someone whose brows you like) to have your brows groomed five to seven days before the wedding so you won’t have any residual redness or irritation.

Get Rid of the bush! Most prefer laser hair removal and you can start that six months before the big day and do it monthly. This way, by your wedding day you’ll no longer have to shave, which will definitely come in handy on the honeymoon. If laser isn’t in your budget or if you prefer waxing, you can wax up until a week before, though this depends on how fast your hair grows and how thick it is. Don’t get a wax right before or it will be red and irritated. That wouldn’t make for a very fun wedding night.

Fake A Glow We love spray tans! They’re great at giving a beautiful glow and an even tone, minus the sun damage. If this is the bride’s first time, you definitely want to go at least two times prior to the wedding to test it out. You want to make sure it doesn’t turn out orange or streaky, and see how the color develops and fades. Then, if you’re satisfied with the results, you definitely want to get a spray tan at least three days before the wedding so you ensure the coloring doesn’t come off on clothes, towels, sheets, etc. For the face, test an at-home face self-tanner (skip the spray, which may come out too dark) a month before the wedding, and if it works then reapply the day before. Try Lancome Flash Bronzer Oil-Free Tinted Self-Tanning Face Lotion, $30.

Note: Run a bath filled to the brim with

Note: When it comes to hair color, if you’re getting highlights, I would recommend getting them a week and a half before your big day. They tend to be a bit more difficult to get perfect. But, if it’s all-over color, a week before is plenty of time. You want your hair to be

hot water and pour in your favorite bath oil with lavender. Soak and bask in the amazing feeling that soon you will be a Mrs., and close your eyes and picture walking down the aisle and how beautiful you will look on your big day! Picture the look on your groom as he sees the most beautiful woman, his woman, saying “I do”.
