A deer greets us on this early fall morning at The Grand Hall at Deer Lake Lodge. This new rustic, chic wedding venue is in Montgomery, Texas’ piney woods. Today is the photo shoot for Bridal Extravaganza Show’s Billboard Bride.

Isenhower pulled off the perfect engagement, with a little help from some friends. They took Key out for manicures (getting her fingers ring ready) and sushi. After a lot of sake, Zeno was taken to Clarke’s apartment where she began banging on the door demanding to be let in. The door opened, lights were off and “Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett was playing on the stereo. Tea light candles illuminated a photo collage Clarke put together. A trail of rose petals lead to the center
of the room where more petals were laid in the shape of a heart. He put her in the center of the heart and got down on one knee. After she said, “Yes, it’s about time,” they both wiped tears of joy from their eyes. His final surprise was a strategically hidden camera that captured the special moment. Key attended the Bridal Extravaganza Show and entered the Be the Billboard Bride contest to “inspire people with her love story.” Despite all the negativity in the world, she encourages couples not to give up on finding love.

What do you think about people who meet on television and get married? When I meet them in person they act like they’ve known each other forever; just like my brides and grooms who come in and have been engaged for a long time. I just think it’s so hard to meet people right now. If this is the way they are going to meet the love of their life, and be on national television, I say why not? What does your firm specialize in and how do you use social media for wedding planning? We do everything from rustic to traditional to contemporary.
I feel a good event planner, wedding planner, can really listen, listen, listen. You have to be able to listen. A lot of event planners are fighting Pinterest and fighting social but I’m going with it because it’s not going to change. It’s hard for some people to visualize or explain what they want. So, I take their Pinterest boards, scale it down and I take the consistent ideas and that’s how I design their wedding. I used to be as young as the bride when I was planning weddings; now I’m as old as the parents. I don’t fight with Millennials; I listen. Do you allow brides to select their own vendors or do you insist they use yours? A lot of vendors think I’m stuck (on the same vendors). I’m such a loyal person and I enjoy working with someone who outdoes themselves every week. Sometimes the client comes and says I want to use a certain vendor.I’m very open

and with the Millennials; they come in and tell me exactly how it’s going to go down. I have met some really great vendors because of their research. I don’t have the time that they have to really dig deep. Where do you find inspiration? I shop vintage every Sunday. I may not buy anything but I’m completely inspired. Vintage will never, ever be gone but it’s definitely going out; it’s not a focal point. Remember when we were mixing all the vintage containers? Well, now we are mixing contemporary metallic, right? Now we are going rose gold, gold, silver, so it may not be vintage but it came from the
vintage idea of mixing out of your grandmother’s cupboard. What is your impression of Texas brides? What I love about Texas is they (brides) do it in a big way. Southern girls are the kindest, ever. I learned about Southern Charm when I planned Jessica Simpson’s wedding in Austin. There’s nothing like it anywhere. There’s no fighting. Everyone wants to help. And it’s part of a community of helping. I think Southern weddings stay traditional and big. What is trending in weddings? I like when you walk into a ballroom and it looks like

someone’s living room, it’s my favorite. Then people stay longer, I love a completely twinkled ceiling; people feel like they are dancing under the stars. Later in the evening, outdoor ceremonies are a big trend because they are more romantic. People want hundreds of candles and you can actually see the candles. So,they are doing hors d’oeuvres and cocktail hour first and then right from the ceremony we go into dinner.
Veil or no veil? I always want a bride to wear a veil. I love veils. It’s the only time you’ll ever wear one. You don’t even wear a veil when you are dead. I love them. And there are so many options it’s not like there’s only one veil. And you can take it right off after the ceremony if you want. What traditions are important for brides? I love traditions. I love the fact that we are not so ahead of ourselves that we don’t remember the past. And why we have a hanky and why we have all these little something blue. All that stuff is awesome and it’s great for the pictures too.

SO PREPARE FOR IT. I RESPECT THAT THEY ARE GOING TO FLIP OUT. I DON’T TAKE IT LIGHTLY AND THEY ARE SPENDING A LOT OF MONEY ON EACH LITTLE THING. DON’T LET IT TAKE OVER YOUR LIFE. THE WORST THING FOR ME IS A BRIDE WHO COMES IN AND SAYS I’VE QUIT MY JOB TO PLAN MY WEDDING, THEN I WANT TO CRY.

What was it like to plan your son Jordan’s wedding. You know, doing your own, the expectations are so high. I am obsessed with my daughter-in-law. She loves vintage and she likes blue and green. We collected blue and green vintage glass and filled them with white flowers. We transformed a brick warehouse where they used to bind books for UC colleges (the kids love books). It was serendipitous how it came together. We brought in 18 magnolia trees
I had built. My son wanted to walk down the aisle to rap music. I didn’t understand. We played (a rap song) with 24 strings. That was unique and personalized. Sometimes today when brides want suggestions from me and I say you know what my son did... We’ve done it more because it’s so cool. What is your advice to brides? If it’s possible, you’ve got to go into planning your wedding with the goal of getting married. The end goal is the “I do” and not all the minutia before the “I do.” Stay focused on the reason why you are doing all this stuff. Keep your sense of humor. I always say to the bride, you’re going to have a flip out. You’ll get to the point where someone had set you off.

Sumaq is less than 20 minutes and you can spend your day taking in the historic sights. Food is a big part of our adventure. We learn to prepare Peruvian Ceviche and Peru’s flagship cocktail, the Pisco Sour at a cooking demonstration
before heading to Qunuq for a six-course degustation tasting meal. Qunuq creates innovative dishes with ancient Peruvian culinary traditions and exciting flavors. Salmon trout cubes, lamb shank and avocado risotto are menu standouts.
Finally, Machu Picchu. Early morning hikers head up Hiram Bingham Highway. We bought tickets days ago and were lucky to get some of the limited seats on the bus. We stand in line in the center of town on Av. Hermanos.
Machu Picchu is considered the heart of the Incan culture. Built with polished dry-stone walls, many buildings have been restored to their original glory. We join the crowds, go around a bend and see the first of many terraced fields. The landscape is simply breathtaking and quite unbelievable. Terraces were carved at different elevations so the Incans could grow crops at various temperatures; they seem to go on forever. Even though we are 7972 feet up, there are hills much higher; I see hikers on one of them. Our group entered at the main entrance. Those who made the four-day trek from Ollantaytamboenter the much higher Sun Gate. We

WHILE IN PERU Cusco – Cusco was the capital of the Incan Empire, so the buildings here, like the Temple of the Sun, are even more impressive than Machu Picchu. Be sure to stop by newly opened Museo Machupicchu containing many of the artifacts excavated in 1912 by Hiram Bingham. Stay: JW Marriott El Convento Cusco is the result of a 50 million dollar renovation. Prior to the reno this was the San Agustín Convent. It’s easy to wander the remarkable grounds; two exhibition halls showcase Peruvian artifacts, daily tours are available.
Lima– This city sparkles with nightlife and fancy restaurants. Over 1/3 of Peru’s population live in this Colonial port city; it’s at sea level, so many will start their trip here to get ready for higher altitudes. Driskill Hotel history is preserved in shadow boxes and displayed throughout the property. Boxes contain old photos, dried flowers, shaving paraphernalia, a stop watch, post cards and much more depicting life around the state capital in the 1800s.
Welcome to Austin’s grand dame, standing tall and proud at the corner of 6th and Brazos St with marble floors, stained glass rotundas, beveled glass doors, intricate carvings on pillars, and an original bank vault door. When the hotel was built in 1886, there was an extraordinary view of the Texas state capital from the second story lobby, but the city grew up around her and office buildings rose up in the six blocks between the two properties. When the view was gone there was no need for the big windows; they were filled in and the space is now a meeting room. Touring the lobby is like taking a Texas history class. Colonel Jesse Driskill was a cattleman when he opened his pride and joy on December 20th, 1886. On January 1, 1887, Governor Sul Ross held his inaugural ball in its ballroom.A devastating drought stole Driskill’s fortune and he was forced to close within a year of opening the hotel. His portrait hangs atop the marble staircase and his cattle brands are replicated on the carpeting in the bar. President Lyndon and Lady Bird Johnson had their first date

He’s Got Game
Kirvis wanted a perfect surprise proposal. He asked Melissa to pick him up at his place for the basketball game and set up a beautiful presentation for her when she walked inside. Unfortunately she was so worried about making it to the game on time, she didn’t see it! She ran inside, past his creative work and straight up the stairs. Kirvis had to improvise a little. He acted like he was going to the car. He closed the front door behind him, but waited just outside. Melissa saw his presentation of love as she raced back downstairs. He heard Melissa’s surprised screams of excitement and went inside to pour his heart out to her on one knee. She said YES! The couple said their “I Do’s” at the Beaumont Event Center with it’s gorgeous outdoor cascading waterfall and elegant atmosphere. Mrs. Paulette Lewis from Platinum Designs helped coordinate their dream wedding. Melissa wore a striking Maggie Sottero dress; Debbie’s Delights made the cake. The couple ended their celebration by heading to New Orleans, LA for their honeymoon.

Do your research and plan ahead! Also, find a great planner that you TRUST and is there to please you! That helped me tremendously. Waiting until the last minute can add unneeded stress and worry to your life and who needs that! I knew what I wanted and relayed it to my Coordinator and she handled it from there. I had minimal stress and the Bridezilla never came out! I truly enjoyed planning my wedding with the help of my Mom and Coordinator Lewis.

Autumn Williams, an account manager, and Matthew Meinert, the owner of a successful landscaping company, first met at a comedy club in Dallas, TX. A few months later on Autumn’s birthday, Matt proposed in front of their closest family and friends at a local pizza house and wine bar. He spelled out “marry me” on the pizza and Autumn could not have been more excited!
Autumn’s advice:
Take the time to soak up every moment of the day because it goes by too fast. Take some time and walk around to take a look at all of your beautiful decorations, so you can remember how beautiful everything was!
They had an April wedding at Elmwood Gardens in Palestine, TX, a place close to Autumn’s East Texas roots. She walked the aisle in a beautiful, allure lace fitted gown. The dress hung off the shoulders and featured a deep v back. Every aspect was perfectly planned to enhance a Spring wedding. The cake was a 3-tiered white cake with coral peonies and roses detailed on the side. The two indulged in a luxurious honeymoon following their wedding at the Hard Rock Heaven Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Riviera Maya turned out to be a beautiful place to unwind after the stress of planning a wedding.

Tawni, a project manager for REW Group, and Patrick, a Project Manager for DPR Construction, met through mutual friends during spring break in their last year of college. After dating for some time, they went out for a nice dinner. When they got home, Patrick offered to take their dog Tori for a walk, while Tawni relaxed. After a couple minutes, the dog came running back with a different collar. By the time Tawni noticed the ring attached to the new collar, Patrick was coming around the corner and getting down on one knee to ask Tawni to marry him. They wed just outside of Houston at Agave Road. “The venue itself is gorgeous. It feels like you are in an exotic location; however, you are just miles from Houston,” says Tawni. The “all-inclusive” venue was perfect for them as they worked on their demanding careers and left the wedding planning to Agave Road staff. Tawni wore a stunning gown by Justin Alexander from Ventura’s Bridal Fashions; Sunkissed and Made Up did her hair and make up. Edible Designs By Jessie made the cake and Flower Power Productions took care of floral arrangements.
Tawni’s Advice:
You cannot tell your maid of honor and bridesmaids “thank you” enough throughout the entire process. This is a huge commitment for them, and they deserve a lot of appreciation for their time and effort.

The couple hired a babysitter, kids were offsite but nearby, so guests could enjoy an all adult reception without added responsibilities. They honeymooned in St Lucia and stayed at Sandals-Regency La Toc.

God’s Favor For Us to Be Together
In April 2012, a mutual friend set up a blind date for Brandon and Shellany. Shellany walked up to her future husband and said,”Hi, we’re friends on Facebook, but not in real life.” Brandon was left absolutely stunned as they spent the evening sharing memories, thoughts and dreams. Being the hopeless romantic, Brandon treated Shellany with “every endearing word and doting action” she deserved. With her family’s blessing, he plotted engagement plans; designing a ring symbolizing the intertwining of families from metals of her aunt’s engagement ring and his mother’s wedding ring and planning a party where he would pop the question. The couple held their celebration of marriage at the Marty Leonard Chapel in Forth Worth, TX., a simple, classic wedding that really reflected their personalities and faith. The bride’s grand entrance was to Debussy’s Clair de Lune. The reception was held at The Texas
& Pacific Station, which perfectly mimicked the 20’s modern design they got from the chapel where the wedding was held. The soft colors and use of pearls within the décor, bridesmaids, and bride made for the perfect modern 20’s wedding.

Pamela Martin, owner of a gym and Sam Pier, a project manager grew up in the same town, but didn’t meet until they went to Texas State University. Sam was a football player and Pamela was a cheerleader so they continuously ran into each other; the rest is history. One evening as they pulled into a parking lot, Sam pointed at the restaurant’s marquee, it read, “Pam, will you marry me?” Family and friends ran out of the restaurant to join their celebration. The night ended with an amazing dinner with their loved ones.
Pamela’s Advice
When choosing vendors, make sure to read the reviews on WeddingWire, The Knot, and Facebook. I did this and ended up being very happy with every single one of them! I think these websites are extremely helpful.
The two-ring ceremony and reception were held at Hideout on the Horseshoe on the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels, Texas. They rented the 18-cabin resort for the entire weekend and were able spend time with loved ones. Pamela wore a Galina Signature gown from David’s Bridal; 2tarts bakery provided the wedding cake.

Scandinavian Love
Kaleen met Thomas in New Braunfels, TX. They were in the same sixth grade class and had a crush on each other. When seventh grade rolled around, Thomas left to attend military school. They reunited at a downtown Austin bar ten years later and have been inseparable ever since. Thomas took Kaleen back to their old elementary school where they first met, and in that classroom they shared, he proposed. The wedding was in Austin, Texas at The Allan House. Kaleen’s stepfather officiated their wedding (he got ordained specifically for their wedding). They had a subtle theme of Irish and Scottish tradition with Scottish thistles incorporated into their floral arrangements. Kaleen wore a simple, elegant straight gown with a beautiful embellished belt to accentuate her waistline.
Kaleen’s Advice
I would not go ‘cheap’ on a wedding photographer. You pay for what you receive, and that made all the difference with my incredible experience with my photographer.
Consider having a large rehearsal dinner. We almost had a ‘second reception’, and adding that extra time to meet with everyone the first night during the rehearsal lifted a huge stress of needing to meet and greet with everyone on my big day.

They are escaping to Maui to soak up the sun and relax on the beach as newlyweds! - Stephanie DiCiro so they had a drink, walked the pier and ended up in a little park near the beach. Kathleen was taken by the park’s beauty and said, “Wow this would be a perfect place to propose, it’s so nice!” Next thing she knew, Mico was on one knee! There was no “other couple,” he brought her to the beautiful port to ask for her hand. The Omni Houston Hotel with its beautiful chandeliers and neutral carpet were perfect for her theme. Kathleen walked down the aisle in a stunning Monique Lhuillier Bliss gown. Mico created the one of a kind
Kathleen’s advice:
“Obviously everyone has a budget and towards the end there are so many expenses you don’t think about and it can be stressful. But after it’s all said and done, this is the only wedding you get (hopefully) and those memories will be with you forever so if there’s something you want that’s pricey, if you think it’ll be worth it, do it! You can always earn more money, but those memories are once in a lifetime.”

Garden District Romance Amanda Myers, a 4th grade teacher, and Michael Malet, a realtor for Keller Williams, met in high school through mutual friends. The night they met Michael drove Amanda home, and according to Amanda, â&#x20AC;&#x153;they fell in love right then and there!â&#x20AC;? Cue the Emo music playing on the car stereo and the scene could have come right out of a teenage romantic comedy.
Fast forward a few years later and Michael proposed to Amanda on Friday, December 13th. While this date has been notorious for bad luck, the couple

“Focus on the feeling! I once read that it’s the feeling you remember from your wedding, not the small details. Once Mikey and I decided that we wanted a love and laughter vibe with family being the focus, everything fell into place.”
Amanda wanted to connect with the people she loves. Bridesmaids’ necklaces were made with the same beading in Amanda’s dress. The beading from her headpiece was duplicated on her mother’s, mother-in-law’s, and sisterin-law’s bracelets; pieces of her dress were featured on the groomsmen boutonnieres.

We spent a massive chunk of our time with the photographer and videographer, and between One Track Films and Stefano, we were in stitches the whole time. Once we got our wedding trailer back, it was emotional. Mark and I loved watching our wedding again – especially from the vantage point of your family and friends.
From Captains’ to Newlyweds
Brooke Elizabeth Jones and Mark Patrick Chinetti, both Army Captains, met while stationed in Colorado. The officers worked together, ate together and started spending free time together as best friends. One day, she accidentally ended a phone call with, “I love you.” The rest is history. Mark decided to propose while they were traveling in Italy and made reservations on a hotel restaurant’s private balcony; it overlooked the river and had a view of the sunset. After hinting this would be a special night, they arrived to find the balcony was not too private and Mark aborted
his mission. Brooke realized nothing special happened and became moody as she worried he’d changed his mind. The next day worked out a little smoother; Mark proposed to Brooke in a private tasting room at Tenuta Torciano. The experience symbolized that life will turn out exactly like it should even, when your plans fall apart. The wedding took place in Houston, TX at Holy Rosary Catholic Church where the bride wore a beautiful custom La Sposa gown. The ceremony was followed by a brunch themed reception at The Parador. The Mediterranean ambiance reminded them of their engagement trip to Italy; the brunch included mimosas, omelet and waffle stations and cakes from Three Brothers Bakery. The party moved to the JW Marriott Galleria where they spent the evening catching up with friends and family. The bride and groom honeymooned on the wonderful island of Fiji. - Rocio Graña
