JESSICA HOWE
Hey Business Bondies! My name is Jessica Howe and I am running for the position of BSA President alongside my team, Prosperity. Prosperity consists of Julian Lloyd Jones as Vice-President, Francis Filler as Treasurer, and Nicola Stewart as Secretary. I am now in my 6th semester at Bond, and I study a double degree in Law and Business. I am currently the Vice President (Education) of BUSA, the Academic Affairs Director of the Business Students’ Association and the Secretary of the Bond Indigenous Awareness Society. I love Bond and I’m passionate about giving back to our student body. Having worked as a member of the BSA for the past year, I have the essential prior-BSA experience necessary to lead a team of highly capable individuals. As the current Academic Affairs Director, I have often worked closely with Ben Carter – the current BSA President, to improve current initiatives of the BSA. My past experience as a part of the committee means that I understand what each role on the committee entails. I know the toughest parts of every role on the committee, and as such, I believe I am better able to be a supportive, knowledgeable and engaged leader.
Policies As President, along with my Vice President Julian, we want to:
social event, and introducing new competitions that focus on enhancing graduate employability.
1. ENSURE A STRUCTURED, FORWARD THINKING COMMITTEE
4. UTILISE THE ROLE OF VICE-PRESIDENT ON OUR COMMITTEE TO STRIVE TO BE THE VOICE BETWEEN BSA DIRECTORS AND THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
• Where each committee member is given the support and ability to reach their goals for the position during the one-year term. • We will work with the new committee to draft a feasible BSA-Term Plan.
2. FOSTER A MORE INVOLVED, INTEGRATED AND COHESIVE STUDENT BODY FOR THE BUSINESS FACULTY • We will work closely with other Business/Commercerelated clubs on campus. • We will continue and expand upon the Business Week initiative that was introduced by this year’s committee
3. CONTINUE TO INCREASE THE BSA’S FOCUS ON SERVING THE STUDENTS
• We will work with all members of our committee to look for opportunities to do more to serve the students, including a short mid-semester exam pick-me-up
• Firstly as part of the Vice-President role we believe it is imperative that the Vice President is capable of being the main facilitator of communication between directors and the executive committee - especially the BSA President. This is to ensure all communication either way between these two parties and the entire committee is seamless, accurate and clear. The aim of this is to ensure nothing falls through the gaps and everything is properly attended to. • Secondly it is essential that the Vice-President is aware of and up to date with the tasks and responsibilities of every director and executive committee member. This is vital to ensure all committee members accomplish their assigned tasks, and that they are fulfilling their roles and responsibilities as BSA committee members.
PRESIDENT
SAM CROSS Diversity Exec Pod
Hello Business Faculty of Bond! My name is Sam Cross and I am running for the position of President of the BSA with the executive pod entitled ‘DIVERSITY’, including Angus Parker (VP), Charlie Capp (Treasurer) and Elizabeth Ploetz (Secretary). I am currently in the midst of my third semester studying a double degree of Commerce (Economics) and Law. I am a passionate and dedicated Bond student. Over the past year I have acted as the treasurer of the Bond Athletics and Running Club, treasurer of the Bond University Liberal Club and have actively engaged in a wide variety of student events and clubs! It would be a tremendous honour to lead the 2014/15 BSA. I know that it is in the best interests of Business Faculty students to have a president that is wholly committed to leading the BSA. I believe that I am well equipped and prepared to lead a successful, rejuvenated and diverse BSA in 2014/15. I hope to see you around campus in the coming week, please refer to the DIVERSITY Facebook page for more information and please see us for any further questions about our DIVERSITY executive pod!
Policies
1. LEAD A UNIFIED BSA TEAM AS A FULLTIME NOT PART TIME BSA PRESIDENT
I see the role of President as a position that requires a full-time commitment. Because I hold no other positions on student representative associations such as BUSA, I can commit my time and efforts wholeheartedly to the role of President, without the interruption or stress of maintaining alternate roles concurrently. I will lead a unified and committed BSA team, that will serve in the best interests of all students within the Business faculty.
2. WORK WITH THE VICE-PRESIDENT AND THE EXTENDED COMMITTEE TO ENSURE GREATER COHESION BETWEEN STUDENTS AND STAFF
I intend to further the contact and relations between students and faculty staff. With Vice Presidential Candidate Angus Parker, I will work towards the creation of an inaugural student and staff networking night, by extending invitations to all students and staff within the Business faculty.
3. TO ENSURE THAT THE BSA PROVIDES MORE EVENTS, MORE OFTEN, TO STUDENTS.
I will ensure, in working with the incoming Social and Competitions Directors that the BSA engages
students with more events, that are specific to the business faculty on a more regular basis. In addition to continuing existing competitions and social events such as Palaver, I will work with the incoming BSA to ensure that the needs of students within the faculty are met with the establishment of more Social events, encouraging interaction amongst the faculty. I will work with the Bond Marketing Group, the Bond Investment Group and the Bond Hotel and Tourism Representative Body to ensure the sustainability of cross faculty events.
4. ENCOURAGE A STRONGER BUSINESS CULTURE
Improve graduate employability and broaden the opportunities available to students soon to graduate With a focus on improving the services provided to students who are nearing the end of their degrees, I intend to work closely with the Corporate Relations Director, the Vice President and the CDC to create a “Speaker’s Series” each semester featuring a combination of Bond graduates and business professionals from a variety of areas in the local, domestic and international business communities. Further I will work with the CDC to establish information seminars specific to graduate employability and opportunities- including job interview, business leadership, and LinkedIn seminars.
VICE-PRESIDENT
JULIAN LLOYD JONES Prosperity Exec Pod
Hi everyone, my name is Julian Lloyd Jones and I am running for the position of BSA Vice-President alongside my team, Prosperity. Prosperity consists of Jessica Howe as President, Francis Filler as Treasurer, and Nicola Stewart as Secretary. I am currently completing a double degree at Bond in Commerce (finance) and Business (marketing) and am in my 6th semester at the University. I am currently a director on the Bond University SPC, during my time on the SPC I have had a chance to work in several areas including Merchandising, Volunteering & Communication. I believe that the diversity of roles I have held demonstrates my ability to work over several areas and maintain organisation, control and perspective. I believe these are key attributes needed as Vice-President of the BSA, and I believe that with these attributes, I can make your BSA prosper.
Policies As Vice-President, along with my President Jess, we want to:
1. ENSURE A STRUCTURED, FORWARD THINKING COMMITTEE • Where each committee member is given the support and ability to reach their goals for the position during the one-year term.

• We will work with all members of our committee to look for opportunities to do more to serve the students, including a short mid-semester exam pick-me-up social event, and introducing new competitions that
focus on enhancing graduate employability.
4. UTILISE THE ROLE OF VICE-PRESIDENT ON OUR COMMITTEE TO STRIVE TO BE THE VOICE BETWEEN BSA DIRECTORS AND THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE.
• Firstly as part of the Vice-President role we believe it is imperative that the Vice President is capable of being the main facilitator of communication between directors and the executive committee - especially the BSA President. VICE-PRESIDENT ANGUS PARKER
Diversity Exec Pod Hi, my name is Angus Parker. I am running in the DIVERSITY Pod with Samuel Cross, Charlie Capp and Elizabeth Ploetz. I am currently enrolled in a bachelor of business degree in my third semester majoring in marketing and really enjoying it as well as meeting great people throughout my experience. I graduated from Shore School in Sydney in 2013 and have lived in Sydney all my life. My interests are sports, specifically rugby, as well as surfing. I have always loved the business side of the world and am looking forward to make my mark on the world as a Bond business student. I know I am the best candidate for the position of vice president as I am a very approachable, can respond to the role effectively and have great qualities that my fellow members of the BSA can look up to. I am a very good communicator, which is a key trait that this role requires in order to process information between the business students, the staff faculty and the BSA. I will be the best candidate for this position because I am very persistent with everything I do and I am sure I will only bring great things for the 2014/2015 BSA.
Policies
1. ESTABLISH GREATER COHESION BETWEEN STUDENTS AND FACULTY STAFF
I will seek to establish an enhanced sense of community relations between students and faculty staff. In doing so, I will work towards the creation of an inaugural student and staff networking night, by extending invitations to all students and staff within the Business faculty. I intend to promote a businesslike culture among students and staff in the hope of establishing closer relations between all members of the faculty. All too often, Business students only have close relations with faculty members during class time. The DIVERSITY pod will seek to extend these relations beyond the classrooms to external events.
2. SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT THROUGHOUT THE BSA TERM
I will wholeheartedly support and provide assistance to the DIVERSITY candidate for President, Sam Cross. I will provide administrative assistance to him, in light of the considerable commitment that the Presidency entails. I will work with Sam, by meeting regularly and ensuring that the workload is effectively shared among members of the BSA executive.
3. IMPROVE COMMUNICATION CHANNELS FOR STUDENTS
I will enhance the role of class representatives. I will meet with the President and the Academic Affairs Director, together with class representatives, at the beginning of Week 3 in the Semester. I will curb the common perception that the class representative is a non-important role. I will work closely with class representatives and the Academic Affairs Director to establish an outline of what will be expected from class representatives. In addition, I will engage with faculty staff to improve the administrative operation of the Class Representative system. I will seek to enhance the BSA presence at Bond events. I will seek to increase awareness at the Dean’s orientation in O-Week. Further, I will organise the establishment of a system wherein one representative of the BSA will attend the lectures of the foundation subjects for degrees in the business faculty. They will outline the role of the BSA, services offered and how to contact the BSA. I will also work to create a video with the promotions director outlining the role of the BSA and our vision moving into the 2014/2015
SECRETARY
NICOLA STEWART
Prosperity Exec Pod Hello Business Bondies! My name is Nicola Stewart and I am running for the position of Secretary alongside my team, Prosperity. Prosperity consists of Jessica Howe for President, Julian Lloyd Jones as Vice-President, and Francis Filler for Treasurer. I moved to the Gold Coast in January this year to pursue my studies of Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Laws. Prior to moving into residences, I completed my final two years of schooling in my hometown of Melbourne after living overseas for the majority of my life. Since moving to Bond, I have been actively involved in campus life. I was honoured to be elected this semester as the co-president of the Bond Animal Welfare League. Furthermore I am the events director for Bond Marketing Group, Bond University French Enthusiasts Club and Bond Indigenous Awareness Society. Last semester, I was given the opportunity to participate in the social justice trip, The Kununurra Project. All these experiences have motivated me to join the BSA so that I can continue to provide opportunities to current and future students.
Policies I believe that the BSA Secretary role needs someone that is organised, transparent, and effective in order for the BSA to prosper. If elected as Secretary for the 2014/2015 BSA Committee, I will strive for:
1. TRANSPARENCY
I aim to achieve this by: • Providing students with a regular and detailed update on the work done by the BSA, this will be delivered through email or as an update in the Bond Business Review. • Establish a clear and direct communication channel between the student body and the BSA. • Re-format the current email structure to make it more accessible and easy to read.
2. INCREASED AWARENESS OF THE BSA AMONG NEW STUDENTS. In conjunction with the publications director, I will produce a ‘Freshers Guide to the Business Faculty’.
3. ACCOUNTABILITY
I will ensure this occurs by: • Working closely with each director to establish clear and attainable long and short term goals for their term on the BSA . • In the event that goals are not being met, I will assist each director to help them achieve this task. • Aid directors to ensure all tasks are completed on time and of a high quality
4. COHESION
I will achieve this by working closely with each elected BSA director to establish a transition plan that will enable the smooth integration of policies from each director’s portfolio.
SECRETARY
ELIZABETH PLOETZ Diversity Exec Pod My name is Elizabeth Ploetz and I will be running for the position of Secretary for the 2014/2015 BSA Committee along with the other members of the pod ‘FRESH’. This pod consists of Sam Cross, Angus Parker and Charlie Capp. I’m from Ipswich not too far from here but am presently living on campus. I attended Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School from Year 8 to 12 where I was an active participant in all areas of school life and my involvement has continued into my time here at Bond where I am currently in my third semester of a of Commerce and Law degree and when I haven’t been studying I have either been playing social netball, tennis or touch. I have also volunteered at the Angel’s Kitchen initiative followed by the Bond University Red Cross Society. But most recently I was in the Bond Business Wolves team that competed during Bondstock week and experiencing being part of such a dynamic and energetic committee has really reinforced my desire to run for this position.
Policies The policies that I have constructed are aimed at ensuring the organisation of the committee runs in the most effective and efficient manner. Further the policies will ensure that all committee members are supported and are able to thrive in the group. This will be achieved through the three following policies:
effective way based on each persons responsibilities and by liaising with each of the committee members to see where they sit in regards to their own personal goals for the committee. The liaising with committee members will also enable meetings to be structured based on each member aims to address.
1. TRANSPARENCY
3. STRUCTURE
Transparency between the Committee and students will be achieved through putting regular updates and minutes of meetings on the BSA website as this will allow all business students to be entirely up to date with anything that is of importance. To ensure that the most pressing information is communicated to students it will be published through various channels after working closely with both the Publications and Promotions Directors.
2. COHESION
Such cohesion in the committee will be established by making sure that tasks are delegated in the most
Structure in the committee will be achieved through meetings that are organised in the most efficient and effective manner. Further, meetings minutes will also be recorded. For the meetings to be best managed each individual will be consulted to establish what items are to be discussed, this information will then be relayed back to the President and Vice President, from here an appropriate agenda can be formed.
TREASURER
FRANCIS FILLER Prosperity Exec Pod My name is Francis Filler and I’m campaigning for the position of Treasurer for the 2014/15 Bond University Business Students Association. Prior to beginning my Bachelor of Commerce/Business degree through a Collegiate Captain Scholarship in January 2013, I attended St. Joseph’s College Tweed Heads of which I was school captain. In my spare time I enjoy following the stock market and global current affairs, spending time with the family, watching the occasional David Attenborough documentary, reading a good book, and having a casual cold beer and schnitzel with the mates. I believe that not only myself, but also my fellow campaign partners in “Prosperity,” are the individuals who will provide business students the best opportunity to allow their futures to prosper. Since becoming a Bondie, highlights of my contributions to the student community and experiences include being a founding executive member and Treasurer of clubs 180 Degrees Consulting, Bond University 4WD, Camping & Fishing, interning at Pulse Wealth Management Firm and participating in the BIAS Abergowrie Social Justice Trip. I have experience, knowledge, determination and a vision to help ensure that the 2014/15 BSA committee will be a prosperous one.
Policies
1. TRANSPARENCY
• Fortnightly 1 page Executive Summary of BSA financials discussed with the executive team. • Semesterly financial updates distributed to directors. • Assess the implementation of a public BSA financial update to be published on the BSA website. • Transparency is key for a strong executive, an informed committee of directors and for students to understand where their SAM fees are going and how successfully they are being utilised.
2. FORESIGHT
•Establish a high-interest bearing savings account for stagnate funds • Foresight will promote long term financial decisions, the creation of a small revenue increase from otherwise stagnate funds and provide a potential “financial buffer” for unforeseen expenses..
3. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
• All financial transactions over $100 to be overseen and signed by two members of the
executive prior to being processed through Bonds • Financial responsibility will ensure that all members of the BSA are not only accountable for their transactions, but also will have the assisted guidance of myself and the executive team to ensure funds are optimally utilised.
4. FINANCIAL OFFICE
Promote a higher involvement of Treasury oversight and director accountability to maximise profit sustainability and eliminate the recurring issue of Palaver running at a loss.
4. PROGRESS
• Perform a cost-benefit analysis to assess whether Incorporation would be beneficial for the BSA. • Formally integrate budgeting software established under the previous Treasurer. • Progress is essential for the BSA to maintain its prestige as one of the most highly reputable student bodies of Bond. Continued integration of efficient budgeting software established under the previous Treasurer will be utilised.
TREASURER
CHARLES CAPP Diversity Exec Pod My name is Charles Capp and I am running for Treasurer in the “Diversity” pod. This is my third semester at Bond studying Commerce and Law, and I moved from a small country in town in New South Wales to pursue my studies. I believe I am the most appropriate candidate for the position of Treasurer due to my innate ability of finance management. As co-founder and current Treasurer of the Bond University Rugby Club, I also have experience in performing the role of Treasurer. As Treasurer of the Rugby Club, I manage funding not only from BUSA, but also from the Bond University Breakers Rugby Club, and manage their financial contribution to promoting the University’s team in the student community. This current role experience, along with an organised and motivated character, is why I believe I am the most suitable candidate for the position. It would be a great honour to be the 2014/2015 Treasurer of the BSA, and I would sincerely invest my full commitment to the role.
Policies 1. INCREASE TRANSPARENCY AND ACCESSIBILITY
Make the treasury role on the BSA more transparent and accessible to the Bond University community. I will establish a semester-by-semester treasury report that will accurately identify to students within the business faculty, how revenue and funding allocations are reinvested into services to improve the student experience. As a candidate for the role of Treasurer, I propose the following policies.
2. MAXIMISE FUNDING ALLOCATIONS
Consult with students and engage with BUSA to ensure that funding allocations are thorough and well prepared to suit student interests I will ensure that funding applications made to BUSA are thoroughly detailed and planned to ensure that the Business Student Association’s allocation from BUSA is maximized. By effectively engaging with students within the faculty, I will gauge the relevant funding that is required for specific events, activities
and projects.
3) MAXIMISE ALTERNATIVE SOURCES OF REVENUE Ensure the stability and sustainability of the BSA’s finances in the hope of procuring independent sources of revenue, outside of BUSA allocations.
I will work with the Social, Competitions and Corporate Relations Directors of the BSA to ensure that events are financially sustainable. In doing so, I will seek to establish alternative sources of revenue for the BSA derived from competitions, events and sponsorship
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
DEBORA KOCAK Director
Hello Everyone! My name is Debora Kocak, or some of you may know me as Tamay (FYI just my middle name). I am from Belgium and currently study a bachelor of Laws and Business. I have been at Bond since 141 and so have my fair share of experiences and friends (Holla!). I love diving. I am a big Business gal. Eat, Sleep, Breathe Business. Ok… maybe not that much, but I do like it. Dream of opening my own business. Entrepreneur at Heart. Other than that, I am a huge fan of team sports. Volleyball, soccer, you name it. I think I am very suited for the role, I have been class representative in both the business faculty and the law faculty for 2 semesters in 3 different subjects. I know what I am doing, so you know everything will be in safe hands. I am also extremely approachable, so if there is a problem, I will definitely be there to help. I have plenty of professional experience too, but let’s just keep things light! I Love People. Share the love.
Policies The previous Academic Affairs Director has done a great job during her time on BSA. I will follow up on that with the following improvements:
1. BETTER ORGANISED TUTOR DATABASE • They are not well coordinated at this time, and can be improved significantly to benefit the students. • Implementing better communication methods (alumni to Bond) and (Students to alumni). • Advertise the program so that more people can benefit from it.
2. CLASS REPRESENTATIVES
As from experience, it does not seem like much changes as semesters pass. I want to make sure that any issues are heard and are not left out in any meeting. Known to be ballsy, you got a problem, I’ll bring it up to whoever needs to hear about it! Guaranteed!
3. REVISION SEMINARS
Not enough students use this amazing resource and I wish to integrate a mid semester revision seminar for students to prepare for mid-semesters.

I am currently on the Freshman Council and Treasurer for the Women’s Welfare Society. I was also recently a winner in the Miscarriages of Justice Moot Grand Final. Before coming to Bond I was School Captain of Walford Anglican School for Girls and this is where I believe my passion for academic affairs comes from. During my time as captain I learnt the importance of approachableness, support and efficiency. Policies 1. TRANSPARENCY

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS JACK RYAN
Director My Name is Jack Ryan, a current Commerce/Law Student in my 3rd Semester. Originally from Sydney I came to Bond on a Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship in January and since then have been actively involved in University life. I am a member of the Freshman Council, resident of B Block, participant of the Macquarie Group Development Program and member of Bond Investment Group. Although I may be my 3rd semester I don’t believe this will be a detriment to me. I have had the opportunity to meet an array of students and cant wait to get to meet more of you! The Academic Affairs Director acts as the student representative for the business faculty liaising with both staff and students in academic matters as well as organising and implementing measures to further assist the students. A testimony to my applicability to the role is founded on two bases, (1) I am a current class representative and (2) I have assisted both the business faculty and the current Academic Affairs Officer in a range of focus groups. This combination has given me an accurate insight into the role, empowering me with the desire to represent you, the soul of the faculty.
Policies
My policies are tailored to improving the experience and relationship of each individual’s student with the faculty. My polices have been formed to minimise the stress and pressure that students experience at different stages throughout the semester by improving:
1. EFFICIENCY
Formulating a structured guideline and report structure that all class representatives are to follow to ensure that the feedback obtained is clear, concise and accurate.
2. TRANSPARENCY
Focusing on greater transparency between ‘class representatives’ and professors. This would focus on ensuring that communication of feedback from class representatives is recorded efficiently (outlined above) and is conveyed at least twice each semester.
3. INNOVATION
I hope to be able to ensure that all students enrolled in a subject receive the relevant and appropriate study materials. In moving in line with technological advancements, I wish to email all PowerPoint’s and handouts used in the end of semester revision
seminars.
4. SYNERGY
I would hope to gain greater synergy between the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Commerce degrees, ensuring that students are made aware of the differences and unique opportunities and options available in each degree.
5. SUPPORT
Support students at subject selection stage by developing an all-business students email that lists the subjects available for the following semester. I will continue to work with Program Advisors to ensure that all students are aware of subjects that are available in each of the majors for business degrees.
6. AWARENESS
Establish greater awareness among students for the online exam archive that provides students with previous exam papers for subjects in the Business faculty. Simultaneously, I will focus on ensuring that all professors, lecturers and tutors upload their materials and past papers to this archive.
COMPETITIONS
SEBASTIAN ZULOAGA Director Hi Business Faculty! I am Sebastian and I am running for BSA for Competitions Director. I am studying a dual degree in Business and Commerce currently in my third semester at Bond. With 20 years old, I have been in Australia since January of 2014 and I am originally from Ecuador in Latin America. I enjoy playing volleyball and traveling around the world is one of my dreams. My interests in the business industry are marketing and finance, a combination between creativity and the use of numbers. I hope to become a business consultant one day. My creativity and commitment are the characteristics that make me suitable for the role. As a competitions director I would make sure to plan competitions that will enhance the experience of business students in Bond. At the moment I am the president of the Bond Latin Society and an external relations director for the Bond Marketing Group. This experience with clubs in Bond gives me knowledge of the working structure around Bond. I also have working experience in a Hotel in the reservations department and was appointed as Treasurer for the High School Captains in my senior year.
Policies I have divided my campaign in 3 distinct policies:
1. EXPANDING THE BSA COMPETITIONS INITIATIVE
As competitions director for the Business Faculty Student Association, I will work my hardest to expand the competitions initiative to include different competitions targeted at different students. Engaging in competitions hosted by companies in different industries will allow students to engage in work with real companies. More competitions allow students to gain more experience and contacts in the industry. I aim to increase the number of competitions making each one specific to a business area. For example one competition might focus on marketing consultancy but another one can focus on hotel and tourism management.
2. CREATING A NEWSLETTER TO INFORM STUDENTS ABOUT COMPETITIONS, BOTH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL. Another focus of my campaign is to inform business students about different competitions around Bond and at a local, regional or national level. Students are not always informed about all the competitions they could enter and win prizes or get experience
through the participation. The newsletter will include the different competitions, descriptions about, requirements to enter and any other information needed. It would be great to see business students representing Bond in different competitions around the country.
3. ACTIVELY COMMUNICATE AND PLAN WITH BIG, BMG AND OTHER UNIVERSITY BODIES.
As part of being competitions director, I think it is important to be in constant communication with other business clubs and groups around the university. I hope to achieve close relationship with these groups so that I can offer my help in any initiatives related to the organisation of competitions. To achieve the first of my policies of expanding the competitions initiative, other business societies will be asked to form part of the process to maximise results.
CORPORATE RELATIONS BEN CARATTI
Director My name is Benjamin Caratti and I am running for Corporate Relations Director 2014/15 in the upcoming BSA elections. I am currently in my third Semester at Bond, Studying a Bachelor of Commerce. I originate from Perth, Western Australia. Over the course of my degree I have become heavily involved with various clubs, societies and programs offered at Bond. I was selected for the Macquarie Training Program; I currently hold the position of Treasurer of the Bond Politik Committee and am an active Student Ambassador. As demonstrated by my participation I believe I am a firmly committed student.
Policies The previous Academic Affairs Director has done a great job during her time on BSA. I will follow up on that with the following improvements:
1. SPONSORSHIP PROSPECTUS
Review current documents used as Sponsorship Prospectus’, to entice a greater number of sponsors. The document will outline the benefits to come from creating a partnership with the BSA.
2. WORK EXPERIENCE & INTERNSHIP SEMINARS Work with the Career Development Centre in organising multiple review seminars for internships and work experience guided by students who have completed or are currently completing internships or work experience for major firms.

CORPORATE RELATIONS ERIN BEARD
Director My name is Erin Beard and I am currently studying a double degree in Commerce and Law. I am originally from a small country town in New South Wales called Inverell but completed High School at a boarding school in Toowoomba, Queensland. Two of my greatest interests have always been sport and business. I am currently the president of the Bond University Touch Club and now plan to run for the position of Corporate Relations Director for the Business Students Association. My position in the Touch Club has also given me valuable insight into how clubs and societies at Bond University function. The role of president involves running and co-ordinating a social competition on Monday nights, organising carnivals and co-ordinating the three external teams competing weekly at Southport. In addition to this, I have to liaison with external parties to organise catering, music and funding for the club. Due to this, I have had a lot of experience communicating with external entities in a convincing manner in order to obtain sponsorship and additional sources of revenue and catering deals for the touch club. I believe these skills are transferable to the role of Corporate Relations Director and would put me in good stead to fulďŹ l my responsibilities for the BSA and add value to all BSA initiatives by providing sponsorship, partnership and career opportunities.
Policies If elected Corporate Relations Director, I plan to reignite the partnership between the BSA and Macquarie and work closely with the CDC to notify the students of any business career opportunities. My full list of policies will be released closer to Election Day.
1. REIGNITE THE BSA-MACQUARIE PARTNERSHIP 2. WORK WITH CDC TO NOTIFY STUDENTS OF ANY BUSINESS CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. More information on my policies will be released soon!
PROMOTIONS
ANNABEL DEBENHAM Director My name is Annabel Debenham and I come from a small town called Leongatha in Victoria. I attended Melbourne Girls Grammar from years 9-12 and then migrated to Queensland in 2014 to study a double degree of Commerce/ Law. I am currently the secretary of Bond University Rowing Club and I live on campus. At school I completed Studio arts in year 11 and 12 where I obtained the capable skills of working with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. This then has allowed me to create and present compressive promotional materials for different events. Through prior experience it has allowed me to manage my time and gain organizational and communication skills, which will help me with this role. These roles include secretary for Bond University Rowing club and coaching the learn to row program for BUBC.
Policies 1. CREATE AND PROMOTE BUSINESS FACULTY EVENTS THROUGH STRUCTURED AND APPEALING POSTERS. • Through my extensive skills of Photoshop I will create promotional materials that are appealing which will enhance the business faculty as a whole. These posters will then be displayed on the BSA website, around campus, on Facebook and in the Scope magazine in order to increase involvement throughout the business faculty and the events that they run. • Competition idea- creating a poster for one of the business events ie: Palaver where the winner will receive a free ticket to that event. This will encourage more involvement within the faculty and promote the social events in order to increase numbers.
2. UTILISE AND UPDATE CURRENT SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS TO PROMOTE EVENTS AND ACADEMIC AFFAIRS. Everyone uses Facebook so therefore this is a good way of connecting to a larger crowd. Currently
the business faculty updates this facebook page regularly which I intend to do. Post semester planner on the BSA Facebook page and website representing all dates for competitions and events. This will allow students to organise their semester and inform them about when and where the events and competitions are held.
3. WORK CLOSELY WITH THE PUBLICATIONS DIRECTOR TO CREATE AN INFORMATIVE AND APPEALING BBR EACH SEMESTER
This will entitle pictures and any memorable moments from the previous events and what is to look forward to in the next semester.
PROMOTIONS MILA IVANOVA
Director Hi Bondies! My name is Milla and I am a candidate for Promotions Director on the Business Students’ Association. I graduated from A.B Paterson College in 2013 and am currently in my 3rd semester of a Bachelor of Commerce/Law. Throughout my life I have lived in Russia, New Zealand and Australia, so if I had to use a few words to describe myself, I would have to use diverse, outside-the-box thinking and far too talkative. I’m a strong believer in mind over matter, the necessity of being passionate toward anything you do and that hard work and ability to learn from failure go a long way. It’s these values that have led me to offer myself as a Promotions Director for 2014-2015 to you all. In my role of President of Community/Sustainability committee at A.B Paterson College 2013, one of my biggest tasks was to promote the committee to the student body and ensure positive engagement throughout the year. It was through this role that I developed the ability to think innovatively and entice students of all ages, backgrounds and interests to become involved in all facets of the committee. I believe this is something I can bring to the 2014-2015 BSA. My ultimate goal is to instil a strong bond between the Bond University business students and the association by first creating maximum exposure of all that the BSA has to offer and in turn enhance the overall business student experience.
Policies
Creating and sustaining communication between the students and the association is the key to ensuring student engagement and involvement. I’ve got a milla-ion ideas for promotions and they’re based on three key overarching policies:
1. INCREASE BSA’S TECHNOLOGICAL/ MEDIA COMMUNICATION TO THE STUDENTS
This initiative is based primarily around video exposure on social media and the BSA website. By issuing a video accompanying BSA’s weekly email forum on the Facebook page and website, I will aim to eliminate the barrier between the association and the students and allow students to access BSA events and updates with ease. The weekly video campaign will involve an update from every member of the BSA regarding the social events, competitions, revision seminars and of course other business groups such as Bond Investment Group and Bond Marketing Group.
2. INCREASING FEEDBACK FROM STUDENTS
Another step in simplifying access to BSA events is promoting feedback about the business student experience. Getting an idea of the student awareness of BSA events will allow me to create BSA updates in a way that can be tailored to every student’s preferred method of communication: e-mail, Facebook, BSA Website, Instagram and the weekly video update.
2. MAKING BSA WEBSITE THE MOST CURRENT AND PREFERABLE METHOD OF RETRIEVING BSA UPDATES.
By renovating the BSA website and increasing its exposure to the student body, I will continue to facilitate the most up-to-date and relevant methods of communicating the BSA events to the students. Combining that with the current methods of posters and Facebook events will make the BSA event calendar a difficult one to miss!

MICHAELA ORSMOND Director Michaela started at Bond in January 2013 and has been an active member of the Bond community ever since. Michaela has served as the I.T. & Multimedia Director on the Bond University Student Association (BUSA) over the past year, the Business Students’ Association (BSA) as the Promotions Director for 2013/2014 and the Communications Officer for 2013. Fun Facts of three. Flamingos take three years to turn pink. If successful Michaela will have had the pleasure of getting to know three BSA Big Dog Committees. Vote Michaela Orsmond for the Publications Director with the write stuff! For more information, or to voice any queries or concerns, please send me an email at michaela.orsmond@student.bond.edu.au
Policies They say all good things come in threes so here’s the three overarching ideals and the policies that are driving my campaign:
1. CONTINUITY
• Continuing the premier and modern design of BBR • Maintaining and expanding the online presence of BSA Publications (O Week Booklet, BBR and Careers Guide) • Introducing a Newsletter and Fresher Folio As a member of the past two committees, I have seen the overwhelming positive feedback to the past year’s editions. Because of this, I plan to continue the modern design and style of BBR; so it applies to both business and non- business students. This will continue to help to enhance and grow its relevant audience.
2. CREATIVITY
• To minimise costs, I will creatively use the current online platforms and existing apps to better communicate with students. • Sticking to strict semester themes to drive, stream line and encourage content • Working with BSA groups such as BIG, BMGBond Marketing and the Hotel and Tourism Students Association
• There will be a bigger faculty focused feature sections as well to showcase talents and achievements, such as the student and staff winners for contribution to the faculty, from the semesterly Faculty awards night.
3. CHANCE
This committee sought applications for a subcommittee, as have the precious two committees before us, and there was minimal interest - and over the past year, article submissions have declined, but I have a plan! • I will work with the Academic Affairs Director, the President and the Faculty to pursue and explore the opportunity to offer credits and rewards for contributions to BBR from the wider student body. • Working with the academic affairs director, president and faculty to pursue the prospect of subject credits and rewards for quality contributions to BBR. Vote Michaela Orsmond for the Publications Director with the write stuff! For more information, or to voice any queries or concerns, please send me an email at michaela. orsmond@student.bond.edu.au
PUBLICATIONS HOWARD LIU
Director Hello Everyone! My name is Howard Liu and I am running for the position of Publications director for the 2014/2015 BSA committee. I moved to Bond this year in order to study a bachelor of business. I am originally from Sydney but have completed the majority of my secondary schooling at a boarding school on the Gold Coast. This is with the exception of the final 2 years where I graduated as House Captain as well as Captain of Big Band, Boys Vocal, and Cue Sports. Since I have been at Bond, I have been actively involved in the student community. I am the Events Director on the Chinese Students Association and a member of the newly founded Bond University Orchestra. Having previously worked at WaiWai Magazine in Sydney, I have extensive experience in publications and design.
Policies 1. REINVENT THE BBR
Reinvent the Bond Business Review (BBR). I will achieve this by: • Incorporating content that is relevant to business students and those who have an interest in business. • Including relevant articles from, major business publications, faculty members, students, and prospective employers. • Create partnerships with Bond Marketing Group, Bond Investment Group, and 180 Degrees Consulting to get relevant articles from their specialities
2. APPOINT AN EDITORIAL SUBCOMMITTEE
This will: • Enable students to be more involved in the publication process. • Enable works to be published more frequently • Allow for the BSA to publish content more relevant to the audience.
3. INCREASE AWARENESS OF THE BBR IN THE WIDER COMMUNITY
This will achieved by: • Developing an iOS application for ‘Newsstand’ • I will also work closely with the Promotions director to increase overall awareness of the publications.
4. RE-EVALUATE THE PUBLICATIONS
• Frequency and punctuality of Publication. This would include the introduction of new, smaller, publications. • Make them of greater relevance to all business students, especially those previously unreached such as the Hotel Tourism and Management students.
SOCIAL
LILLI CASHMAN Director My name is Lilli Cashman, I’m 19 and I grew up on a farm in Birregurra, Victoria. I am the oldest of three children and attended boarding school since I was 15. I love fashion and food and all my “business decisions” seem to be focused around the two. I am currently in my third semester of studying Business and Law and have grown to be a very enthusiastic Bondie. I want my enthusiasm to rub off on the rest of the Business Faculty and that is why I am running for the position of Social Director for the Bond Students Association. I believe that I am a suitable candidate for the Bond Student Association’s Social Director as I have a social presence at the university and have a vision for the social aspects of the Business Faculty. I was a prefect at High School, leaving me responsible for organising a large range of events and coordinating a student body. I naturally work well in teams, which I feel is an important trait for any member of an association or committee. My extra curricular activities at Bond include the Bond Children’s Holiday camp, which I look forward to participating in on these coming holidays.
Policies My policies as BSA Social Director, if elected:
1. ENHANCE THE BUSINESS FACULTY COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE I want to create more of a community feel for the Business faculty through introducing new social events and activities that bring all business students together on a regular basis. Monthly breakfasts and events will be facilitated to bring together the business students.
2. BUILD MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR BUSINESS STUDENTS. To build more opportunities for business students through holding career and industry based seminars, luncheons and other similarly styled events.
3. INTRODUCE A NEW FACE TO PALAVER
Being one of bonds most talked-about social event of the year, it cannot disappoint. New drinks, new
music, more interactive and elaborate designs, it will be event not to miss. I will build the hype and numbers for the event through new marketing tactics such as guerrilla marketing and more social media platforms.
SOCIAL
SID SHARMA Director Hello Bondies! I’m Sid, your candidate for Social Director on the Business Students’ Association. I am an international student from the United Arab Emirates and originally from Mumbai, India. I’m currently in my third semester at Bond, studying a Bachelor of Business degree with a major in Marketing. I would describe myself as being easy to talk to and an ‘ideas guy’, albeit a slightly eccentric one, and absolutely relish any opportunity to create and innovate. My interests and hobbies include; drama, philosophy, art & design, writing, consumer behaviour, Game of Thrones, and telling bad jokes. I’m the current Competitions/Promotions Director for Bond Unity, Vice-President of the Drama Society and an Event Coordinator for Bond’s upcoming International Week. In these roles, my job is to create ideas for events and partake in the planning and executory process. Social dynamics play a massive part in events and I believe I possess the creativity and management skills to optimise the social experience in events I organise. As an enthusiastic people person, I guarantee that I will take the necessary steps to ensure you get the most out of every event, and most importantly – have a damn good time!
Policies 1. REBUILD PALAVER’S IDENTITY
Over the last year or so there has been a sudden decline in terms of attendance at Don’s Tavern and I believe that that’s because every event now suddenly seems like just another party at Don’s, without its own unique identity. I believe that with the right amount of ingenuity, good use of logistics and creation of atmosphere, that Don’s can be transformed into something different entirely, and each semester students will not be going to Don’s, they will be going to Palaver.
2. BUSINESS ALUMNI NETWORK
We as business students are a community and should take advantage of our intimate size. In an age where social media and social networking have taken giant leaps in easing the process of communication, it only makes sense that we make good use of it to develop and maintain the relationships that we start at university. I propose that we start a network on
websites such as Facebook and LinkedIn to connect past, present, and future business students. The benefits of this include students being able to create close contacts as well as it being a place where major updates and developments can be posted. Also, one day when you’re CEO of a multinational corporation and would only trust a Bondie for the job you require, you’ll know where to find them!
2. BOOST UNDERGRADUATEPOSTGRADUATE CONNECTIONS
I believe that the postgraduate business students have a lot to offer in terms of knowledge and experience to undergraduate students. What I aim to achieve is an easy line of communication between undergraduate students and postgraduate students as to give both groups a platform for any queries or topics for discussion. This will hopefully lead to more undergraduates considering postgraduate study at Bond and get postgraduates more involved with the undergraduate community.
Make your vote matter.
