The health of the ocean plays a crucial role in climate regulation, mitigating the impacts of climate change. Ocean currents effectively distribute heat worldwide, influencing temperature and weather patterns. Moreover, the ocean acts as a significant absorber, taking in more than 90% of the heat and around 30% of carbon dioxide emissions resulting from human activities. This global competition challenges students ages 12-18 to develop innovative solutions to some of the oceans' top challenges. Students will be competing in one of three categories: Marine renewable energy, Marine autonomous systems, and Healthy marine Life. The inaugural competition will be held virtually on Dec 16th, 2023.
