The Parks and Recreation Commission is responsible for parks and recreation policies & programs within Brisbane. Its five to seven members are appointed by the City Council for terms of four years each and meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm in the Community Meeting Room at Brisbane City Hall. Current Commissioners include: Renee Marmion (Chair), Karen Akiko Lentz (Vice Chair), Bonnie Bologoff, Madison Davis, Jamesanne Dunn, Lyle Covino, and Theresa Jimenez.

All activities require registration before attending. Activities may be cancelled due to lack of enrollment. Please register early so an activity will not be cancelled unnecessarily. Brisbane residents pay a reduced fee. Resident fee eligibility is for all individuals who reside or work in Brisbane. Proof of residency may be required, e.g., drivers license, PG&E bill, or pay stub from a Brisbane employer. (P.O. Boxes do not establish residency.)

Brisbane Parks & Recreation baseball teams participate in the S.S.F. Pony Youth Baseball League. All practices are in Brisbane, but all the games are played in South San Francisco. Our baseball program is dependent on many volunteers to make sure the kids have a great experience. Please contact Brisbane Parks & Recreation if you would like to be a volunteer coach or help out in any way this season. Practices will begin in late February or early March depending on the S.S.F. league schedule. Participant ages are determined as of April 30, 2016. Brisbane Preschool Program ages 3-5 The Brisbane Parks & Recreation Department offers a developmentally appropriate program to encourage, support, and develop the whole child. Preschoolers days are balanced with a variety of enrichment activities including art, imaginative play, recreation, music, stories, and more. We aspire to enhance self-esteem, encourage independence, foster friendships, and provide a nurturing introduction to school. Due to the extreme popularity of the Preschool program, the Parks & Recreation department will be holding a lottery for the open spaces in the program. Classes for the Fall session of Preschool will start on September 5th, 2016. Parents wishing to register their child for this two year program should review the dates below to ensure they make their assigned deadline. All students participating in the Preschool program must be a minimum of three years old as of September 1st, 2016 and fully potty trained at the start of the program (no exceptions). Brisbane Afterschool Program
The Brisbane Parks & Recreation Department works closely with the Brisbane School District to provide an afterschool program on the Brisbane Elementary School campus. We primarily serve working families who desire a fun, safe, structured environment where children can learn and grow. Our play-based approach provides a supportive and nurturing atmosphere and allows us to bridge the gap between home and school. A daily snack is provided and our staff escorts children to select enrichment programs nearby. A balance of educational, social, and recreational opportunities are offered which include: • Homework assistance • Arts and crafts • Indoor/outdoor games, and much more! If you enjoy swimming or if you are interested in becoming a lifeguard, then Afterschool Junior Lifeguard Club is for you! Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of rescues, first aid, and CPR skills. Prerequisites: All participants must be able to swim the front crawl for 25 yards continuously, tread water for 1 minute, and submerge and swim a distance of 8 feet underwater. Community Corner day in the park & Derby recap
The 29th annual Day in the Park was very eventful! Residents came out to enjoy community booths, arts & crafts vendors, tasty food, and loads of entertainment for the kiddos. Thank you to all of the participating community groups, art vendors, volunteers, staff, the Brisbane Public Works department, PlanIt Interactive, and Bright Events for your support of this community wide event. We’re already plotting for next year’s 30th annual Day in the Park! Our 9th annual Derby was quite the success this year! Thank you to all 24 racers who participated and to the families and friends there to cheer them on. Our 2015 champion in the 6-9 year old bracket was Stacia Johnson while Ty Alexander took the top spot in the 10-14 pool. Congratulations to Stacia & Ty! For their 12th Season, the Friends of the Brisbane Library are pleased to offer four concerts in addition to the San Francisco Guitar Quartet which will be performing for schools. The series includes: January 17th – Presentation of the San Francisco Guitar Quartet to BES, Panorama, & Lipman January 23rd – Bienvenue Fortepiano Trio February 27th – Ann Moss Soprano March 19th – Allegra Chapman and Christine Lamprea April 9th – Ensemble Alcatraz Ticket Prices are $20 for Adults and $15 for Students and Seniors Series Tickets run $60 and $40 respectively. Artists of all disciplines will share their talents with the Brisbane community during an evening of inspiration and enchantment. BRISBANE SENIOR CLUB
The Brisbane Senior Club is a great place for Brisbane seniors (60 years and up) to get the most out of life. Whether we’re on a trip to a new and exciting place or simply enjoying each others company, Brisbane Senior Club members are active and always doing something fun. The club is currently accepting new members. We meet every Wednesday at the Community Center for lunch or a trip. First time visits are free of charge and participation in the club afterwards is only $10/month. There’s no reason not to join in the fun!
