September to December 2017
WELCOME TO OUR FIRST SEASON BROCHURE! After a year of settling into the new building, we are ready to release our first season brochure, which will guide you through our confirmed events from September to December 2017. Our aim is to fill our calendar with a well-balanced line up of Bristol’s community arts scene and professional local and touring companies, as well as our high quality school productions. We start the year with the Actors of Dionysus presenting the Greek tragedy Antigone – something for both Classics and Drama enthusiasts! Bristol Poetry Festival will be revisiting the Mackay in October; We’re excited for their return and hope this will be a regular feature. Tobacco Factory Theatres will also return with Yana and the Yeti as part of their BEYOND season in October Half term: a beautiful production by Pickled Image utilising both puppetry and live music. Later this term, Jo Sarsby Management Ltd. will be presenting Professor Alice Roberts, Gordon Buchanan’s Animal Families and Me and Saba Douglas-Hamiliton’s A Life with Elephants – three different but equally fascinating talks. The Autumn term also hosts a full programme of School productions. Following on from last year’s hit dance show Nutcracker!, BGS dance will be returning with the enchanting and mythical Maleficient. The Senior School will be presenting their own interpretation of Carol Ann Duffy’s adaptation of Grimm Tales and School will descend en masse once again to Colston Hall to battle it out in House Singing in October. We look forward to welcoming you to 1532!
