DEAR BRISTOL FAMILY: Welcome to the Last Great Colosseum and what is sure to be an electrifying 2016 racing season at Bristol Motor Speedway. The Food City 500 weekend returns April 15-17 and we are ready to wave the green flag on our biggest year yet. If you are new here, welcome, and if you have been coming here for a long time, welcome back. We are so honored that you have chosen Bristol. The Food City 500 weekend kicks off on Friday, April 15 with Bush’s Beans Pole Day for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, an extremely popular knockout qualifying format. Following the end of qualifying, Bristol hosts the Food City Race Night, the best fan festival on the circuit. Held in Bristol’s Hospitality Village, this free fanfest always entertains with music, food and driver appearances. Don’t miss it. April race week continues on Saturday with Sprint Cup practice, the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 and NASCAR K&N Series PittLite 125 doubleheader. The XFINITY Series race is one of four Dash 4 Cash events in 2016 and arrives with a new format. The event will be split between two Heat races (50 laps apiece) followed by the Main Event (200 laps), which will be sure to raise the stakes of the Dash 4 Cash program. Races of this nature are a staple of hometown tracks all over the country and one that drivers and fans love. The Food City 500 goes green on Sunday, as our great partners at Food City return for their 24th installment of sponsoring our Spring race. In fact, Food City is the second longest event entitlement sponsor on the NASCAR circuit. Race fans from all over the country will be on hand to see NASCAR stars Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Danica Patrick, Chase Elliott and more battle it out for our prestigious trophy and an early season victory. Perhaps the biggest addition fans will notice during our April race week is the addition of Colossus TV, the world’s largest outdoor, center-hung, 4-sided display. Featuring screens that are 4.5 times larger than the old screens and having the highest viewing quality of any permanent outdoor display in the world, Colossus TV is sure to have a gigantic impact on your experience inside the World’s Fastest Half-Mile. Colossus will also make a world of difference in sound quality. The display will feature a state-of-the-art, 540,000-watt audio system powering 380 3-way loudspeakers and 48 stadium subwoofers. By contrast, the old system hosted 2,400 watts of power, with only 10 2-way loudspeakers and eight subwoofers. ALCOHOL SALES POLICY
Only persons 21 years of age and older presenting a photo ID may purchase alcohol. No more than two alcoholic beverages may be sold at one time to an individual guest. The Speedway reserves the right to cease alcohol sales at its discretion. All alcohol sales stop in the suite level when there are 50 laps remaining in the races and in the grandstand concessions when there are 100 laps remaining.

BMS APP
The Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) App provides access to race/ event schedules and much more. Guests can use GPS maps to find their current position, nearby restrooms, ATMs, first aid stations and entrance gates. One of the app’s most popular features, Talk to Bristol, allows guests to ask a question by email, text or call the Fan Hotline during event weekends. Golf carts, ATVs, open fires, fireworks and weapons are STRICTLY PROHIBITED in the campground areas. MEDALLION CAMPGROUND Overlooking the Speedway grounds and the Bristol Dragway entrance is the benchmark of camping luxury, the Medallion Campground. This area features a private, exclusive gated community of 20x50 reserved spaces with power, water, and sewer hook-ups. This campground opens at 10 a.m. Monday, April 11 and closes 2 p.m. Monday, April 18. For assistance during race weekend, please call the Medallion Camping check-in booth at (423) 764-0901. THE DRAGSTRIP CAMPGROUND This campground is located at the legendary Bristol Dragway and offers sites with hookups, dry camp sites, and an area specifically for tents. Those who have April 2016 Dragway Campground permits may enter at 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 13 via Copperhead Road. THE LANDING CAMPGROUND The Landing Campground is a non-hookup campground with 20x50 sites and a view of the surrounding Appalachian Mountains. Those who have April 2016 Landing Campground permits may enter the campground beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 13 via Copperhead Road. For assistance during race weekend, please call the Landing Camping check-in booth at (423) 968-2739. WHITE TOP CREEK PARK TENT CAMPING Those who have April 2016 White Top Creek Park Tent Camping permits may enter the campground starting at 9 a.m. Thursday, April14 via Sportsway Drive. For assistance during race weekend, please visit the White Top Creek Park Tent Camping check-in booth in the campground or call Daniel Warren at (423) 989-6944. CARRY-IN ITEMS
Each guest is permitted to bring one carry-in item and one cooler through the gates. Carry-in items and coolers cannot exceed 14 inches in size. Items will be searched upon entry to the grandstand gates, and fans are encouraged to use see-through bags or backpacks to expedite your trip through the security checkpoint areas. Please refer to the PROHIBITED ITEMS section for a list of objects not allowed inside the Grandstand Gates.
COLOSSUS
The Last Great Colosseum is the home of the world’s largest outdoor, permanent, center-hung digital display. Each of Colossus’ four custombuilt screens is approximately 30 feet tall by 63 feet wide. In total, the system hosts nearly 54 million LEDs and 18 million pixels. At 6mm pitch, the pixels are grouped tighter than the large-scale outdoor displays in Times Square. The result: a glimmering visual experience capable of offering 281 trillion different color combinations, and one that’s 23 times brighter and 25 percent sharper than the typical home HD TV. Colossus also boasts a state-of-the-art, 540,000-watt audio system powering 380 3-way loudspeakers and 48 stadium subwoofers. COOLERS
Coolers up to 14 inches in size are permitted in the grandstands. Glass bottles or containers are not permitted inside the stadium. Coolers are NOT permitted in the garage/infield areas or on suite level.

NASCAR Garage / Pit Credentials are issued by NASCAR and BMS to teams, working media, safety officials and special guests. Everyone in the garage/pit area MUST display a NASCAR Garage / Pit Credential and a valid photo ID at all times. Alcohol, coolers, and folding chairs are not permitted in the garage/pit area. Shorts, open-toed shoes, sleeveless blouses and skirts/dresses are allowed in the garage / pit area, however, attire must remain appropriate for both a major sporting event and a family environment. BMS Credentials and NASCAR Registration offices are located side-by-side inside the Speedway’s South Entrance off Highway 11E, 150 yards from the entrance on the right side, adjacent to the helipad. SIGNING FOR CREDENTIALS AND HOT PASSES: Bristol Motor Speedway Guests & Media: Accredited guests of BMS and media MUST sign for credentials in person, sign insurance waivers and present a government-issued photo ID at the BMS Credentials office. Please note: on-site parking is not guaranteed with credential approval and is not available for sale at either credential office. Please see PARKING and SATELLITE PARKING for alternative options. NASCAR participants, guests of teams and NASCAR: Team personnel, guests of teams and NASCAR must sign for credentials and insurance waivers in person and present a government-issued photo ID at the NASCAR Registration hauler, next to the Credentials Office. Single Event License (SEL) Hot Passes: If you purchased a Hot Pass from NASCAR, present your driver’s license number to officials at the NASCAR Registration hauler, next to the Credentials Office. DRIVING DIRECTIONS
FYI: To ensure smooth traffic flow FOLLOWING AN EVENT, guests may be directed to exit parking areas in the opposite direction from which they entered. Please check with parking property owners for details. For more information regarding directions and parking, please visit bristolmotorspeedway.com. For guests traveling Interstate 81 South, the most direct route to Bristol Motor Speedway is Virginia Exit 3. Highway 11E leads directly to the Speedway, HOWEVER, this route tends to become extremely congested during race weekends. Guests traveling South may also take Virginia Exit 17 off I-81 and turn left on Highway 75. At the Tennessee border, the road changes to Highway 44. Continue on this route until the stop sign at U.S. 421. Turn right on 421 and follow until the traffic light at Highway 394. Turn left and proceed approximately six miles to the Speedway. Guests traveling Interstate 81 North can take Tennessee Exit 69 and turn right at the bottom of the ramp onto Highway 394. The Speedway is located on the left side of Highway 394. This route is the most direct, but also the most congested from this direction. Guests traveling North should consider using alternate routes, including Tennessee exit 57A on I-81 to I-26E toward Johnson City. From Johnson City, take US11E exit to the Speedway. Additional information on directions and parking is available at bristolmotorspeedway.com.

GRANDSTAND TICKETS
Lost or Stolen Tickets - The Speedway provides non-refundable replacement tickets for a fee. To obtain non-refundable replacement tickets during race week, the account holder may visit any venue ticket booth or the main ticket office in The Bruton Smith Building during operational hours. You must present a valid photo ID to obtain tickets. Prior to the event, please call 1 (866) 415-4158 (toll-free) or (423) 9896900. Re-Entry to Grandstand Gates - Guests requiring exit from the Speedway must have their ticket scanned. Tickets must also be presented and scanned for re-entry.

Kids Zone is a fun and FREE interactive area for children 15 and under. Activities include inflatables, a rock wall, zip line, euro bungee, corn hole, face painting and a coloring station located in the Fan Zone (near the large lighted Bristol Motor Speedway sign). LOST CHILDREN
Children separated from their families will be escorted by BMS personnel to a Guest Services booth or Guest Welcome Village where they will remain until their families are located. Parents reporting or inquiring about lost children should contact the nearest Event Staff employee or uniformed deputy. All Guests with children are encouraged to go to the Kids Zone, Guest Welcome Village or Guest Services booth and enroll children in the BMS Tag-A-Kid Program. See map for locations.

MOTORCYCLES
All public motorcycle parking is located on Sweet Knobs Trail adjacent to the Landing Campground. TDOT motorcycle regulations, including the use of helmets, must be observed on BMS property. All-terrain vehicles or golf carts are not allowed on BMS property, other than those used by or approved by the Events Department.
OVERNIGHT PARKING
Overnight parking is not permitted on Bristol Motor Speedway property.

PARKING
Parking on BMS property requires either a BMS-issued parking pass or a state-issued parking permit (placard or license plate). Parking passes for all lots exceed the number of spaces available. When a lot reaches capacity, attendants will direct the pass holder to another lot. PLEASE NOTE: LOT E IS NOT ACCESSIBLE FROM THE SPEEDWAY SOUTH ENTRANCE. Lot E parking pass holders MUST enter the property at the Dragway Entrance off State Route 394. Drivers using state-issued permits should enter the property at the Dragway Entrance. All other permit holders should enter at the entrance designated on the permit. NOTE: For handicap-accessible parking information, see ACCESSIBILITY NEEDS. State and local law officials require state-issued permit holders to be in the car when the permit is used. This law will be enforced. Anyone using a permit illegally will not be allowed to park in the lots and may lose the permit. NOTE: Overnight parking is not permitted. BMS offers FREE shuttle bus transportation to and from two off-site FREE parking areas. These areas are located on State Route 394 at White Top Creek Park near Copperhead Road, and Speedway Parking and Camping at White Top Road. This shuttle runs from Friday, April 15 through Sunday, April 17. See SHUTTLES for schedule, and Transportation Map (page 46-47) for locations. Park-and-Ride: This option allows guests to park further away from the track to avoid congested driving conditions. Shuttles will leave BMS 45 minutes after the race concludes. NOTE: The use of unmanned aerial vehicles or drones is prohibited anywhere on Bristol Motor Speedway/Dragway property or in the skies above. Prohibited items that are discovered during security inspections at the Stadium Gates must either be returned to the owner’s vehicle or discarded. Unlawful items discovered during security inspections are subject to confiscation and the person in possession of those items is subject to arrest. Any prohibited item discovered inside the Stadium is subject to confiscation.
POSTPONEMENT
Paid admission tickets to an event postponed by rain will be honored on the next raceable day at BMS. No refunds will be issued.

SATELLITE PARKING / PARK-AND-RIDE
Satellite Parking allows guests to park away from the track and travel via shuttle bus to avoid congested driving conditions. Shuttles will leave BMS approximately 45 minutes after the race. Three Tennessee Park-and-Ride locations are available for the Food City 500 on Sunday, April 17 and the Virginia Park-and-Ride location will operate for both the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 on Saturday, April 16 and Food City 500 on Sunday, April 17: 1. In Bristol, Va: Sugar Hollow Park, 3600 Lee Highway, between Exits 7 and 10 off I-81. Reservations are not required at this location. Fans parking in this lot will be provided shuttle service to BMS at a cost of $20 round trip, payable on arrival. Buses depart at the top of each hour beginning at 9 a.m. Served by the City of Bristol, Va. This service is available both Saturday, April 16 and Sunday April 17. Suite ticket holders are encouraged to enter at designated Suite Gates (5,7,8,10,16,18), but may enter through any gate at Bristol Motor Speedway. After gaining admittance, suite guests should proceed to the Suite Registration booth nearest their suite. Suite Registration will stub the suite ticket and issue a suite wristband. A suite wristband must be worn at all times and must be accompanied by a suite ticket. An adult must accompany minors at all times on suite level. Everyone, including infants and children, must have a suite ticket to access suite level. Suite Dress Code: No tank tops, halter-tops, swimsuits or athletic shorts are allowed. Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times. This policy is enforced by suite security. No coolers, outside food, or beverages may be brought to suite level. TAG-A-KID
Tag-A-Kid is a free program designed to reunite parents and children should they become separated during events. Parents are encouraged to visit any Guest Services booth, Kids Zone or a Guest Welcome Village to sign up for the program. See map for locations. Each child receives a special tag with the parent’s name, cell phone number,

Any child that becomes separated from their parents will be escorted by Speedway personnel to a Guest Welcome Village or the nearest Guest Services booth where they remain in a secure, visible site until parents can be located. Tag-A-Kid includes free ear protection for participating children.

TOW LOTS
Cars towed from BMS property will be taken to the far end of the Bristol Dragway. Cars towed from public property will be taken to the Bristol Fire Station on Exide Drive (See Parking and Camping Map for location of the station). A fee of $30 is charged for cars towed to the Dragway. A fee of $85, plus the cost of the parking ticket, is applied for cars towed to the Exide Drive location.

Tickets left by a third party at the Will Call Pick-Up Window are held at the Main Ticket Office located in The Bruton Smith Building near Elevator Tower D/Gate 5. A valid picture ID is required. Tickets may only be picked up by the account holder or their previously authorized designee. Credentials may not be left at Will Call as each assigned credential holder must present a government-issued photo ID and sign an insurance waiver. See CREDENTIALS for specific details and location. To reach the BMS Credential office from the Will Call pick-up window, exit The Bruton Smith Building and follow the Speedway to your right through parking lot B. XFINITY Dash 4 Cash
In Saturday’s Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300, BMS is the first of only four tracks to offer fans a new Dash 4 Cash format which includes two Heats (50 laps each) and a Main event (200 laps). Qualifying for the event will set the 40-car field with odd-numbered qualifiers competing in the first Heat and even-numbered qualifiers contending in the second. Finishing order from the two Heats will then set the final starting spots for the Main event. The top two series regulars from each Heat will then battle for an additional, guaranteed $100,000 Dash 4 Cash bonus payout.

NASCAR'S DIFFERENT SERIES SOURCE NASCAR
From Home Tracks to Sprint Cup, a glance at the different levels of NASCAR NASCAR has three official series and then several other series that fall under its Home Tracks category. The three NASCAR National Series are: SPRINT CUP SERIES, which consists of 36 points races, including a 10-race playoff to crown a champion called the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. XFINITY SERIES, which consists of 33 points races, including a seven-race playoff to crown a champion. CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES, which consists of 22 points races, including a seven-race playoff to crown a champion. In the pecking order, the Sprint Cup Series is the most prestigious and viewed as the major league level. The XFINITY Series is the next most prestigious and is viewed, to steal a baseball term, as the Triple-A of NASCAR. Plenty of successful Sprint Cup Series drivers like Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (to name a few), honed their craft on that circuit before moving up to Sprint Cup. The Camping World Truck Series is the next level followed by the Home Tracks Series, which is full of young, up-and-coming drivers looking to get to a NASCAR National Series. The Home Tracks Series typically run a limited schedule. The K&N Pro Series, especially, has been a starting ground for some notable Cup drivers such as Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano and Martin Truex Jr., to name a few. Home Tracks consists of a group of regional stock car racing divisions that are sanctioned by NASCAR. Under this banner is:

K&N PRO SERIES EAST: This circuit is a stock car circuit and is run on the East coast of the United States. K&N PRO SERIES WEST: This circuit is a stock car circuit and is run on the Western part of the United States. CANADIAN TIRE SERIES: This circuit is a stock car circuit that runs in Canada. TOYOTA SERIES: This circuit is a stock car circuit that runs in Mexico. WHELEN EURO SERIES: This circuit is a stock car circuit that runs in Europe. WHELEN MODIFIED TOUR: This circuit mainly runs in the Northern United States and is open-wheeled stock car racing. WHELEN SOUTHERN MODIFIED TOUR: This circuit is the other one with open-wheeled stock car racing. WHELEN ALL-AMERICAN SERIES: This is a points championship for NASCAR sanctioned local race tracks around the United States and Canada. NASCAR also sanctions the NASCAR iRacing.com Series, which is an online oval racing series hosted by iRacing.com. It is not uncommon to see a driver run in both the Sprint Cup and XFINITY Series. Several drivers do this on a routine basis when those series are at the same track. What is a bit of a rarity these days is a driver running in all three national series. Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski will sometimes run in the three NASCAR National Series events if they are at the same track. Sprint Cup Series races are almost always the last of the three national series to run and they are typically on Sunday, but there are some Saturday night races throughout the season. XFINITY Series races are usually on Saturday, but there are some Friday night races throughout the season. The Camping World Truck Series races are typically on Friday nights, but there are some mid-week races from time to time. All three seasons start at Daytona, but there are sizable gaps early in the season in the Truck Series.

RACING STRATEGY SOURCE: NASCAR
NASCAR strategy is crucial to all teams as they try to strategize a winning formula. Sometimes the crew chief will make a last minute call for a pit stop and discuss it with the driver. Just because you may have the fastest car does not mean you will win the race. A team with a good strategy and good planning can win the race. Listed below are three major factors that play into racing strategy; tires, fuel and car adjustments. TIRES Tires must be changed throughout the race. As the car makes its way around the track, the tire will wear down. Almost every time there is a caution the cars will make their way into pit road to get four tires changed. Sometimes if it is closer to the end of the race the crew chief and the driver will make a decision to change only two tires. They make this decision because they want to race for position. Some drivers feel they will have a better chance to win or finish higher by only changing two tires. However, there is a price to pay by only changing two tires. When a team changes two tires the car has less grip as it goes around the track compared to a car that changed all four tires. A car with four fresh tires is almost always faster than a car with two. Sometimes a team will make a green flag pit stop. This means other cars are still racing as another team makes a pit stop. They do this because the tire wears down and they lose speed as a result. Sometimes teams will make a green flag pit stop during the race. For example, if there are 80 laps to go and they know that the tires will last them a good 70 laps they will make a green flag pit stop around 70 laps to go. This will allow them to pit before other drivers, therefore, allowing them to gain position back when the other cars pit. FUEL Fuel is calculated throughout the race by the crew chief and he decides when the team should make a pit stop to get fuel. The crew chief must also calculate for caution flags that can affect the amount of fuel a car uses. On every caution the crew chief must recalculate the amount of fuel the car will use for the laps remaining. Sometimes drivers also need to adjust their driving style to account for fuel usage. This is because the driver may be able to save fuel to avoid making a pit stop to allow him to get better field position. CAR ADJUSTMENTS Every car reacts to the track differently and based on how the car is driving the crew team will make adjustments to the car on a pit stop. Some cars will be tight or loose as it goes around the track. This causes the driver to slow down more than other cars causing the driver to lose field position. When the car is tight the front tires begin to lose traction before the rear tires and the nose of the car will slide towards the outside wall as it makes it way around the corner. When the car is loose the rear tires lose traction before the front tires. The tail of the car slides towards the outside wall as the rear tires lose traction and the front tires struggle to pull it forward. To fix these problems teams will add or remove air pressure in the tires.

NASCAR RACING FLAGS SOURCE NASCAR
FIND OUT WHAT EACH FLAG MEANS IN A NASCAR RACE Racing flags give NASCAR officials the ability to communicate with drivers during races. The flagman, perched in a stand high above the start/finish line, waves the appropriate flag when necessary. There are eight flags: GREEN FLAG: Displayed at the start of the race, and during restarts. The lead driver cannot be passed on the track before the green flag is waving. YELLOW FLAG: Signals a caution, which tells drivers to slow down to a predetermined speed. Debris on the track or a wreck are typically the chief culprits for this flag. RED FLAG: Signifies the race must be stopped immediately, regardless of the cars' position on the track. This is usually for safety reasons (For example, a red flag was issued following Juan Pablo Montoya's collision with a jet dryer at the 2012 Daytona 500.) BLACK FLAG: Think of the black flag as the "consultation flag." Whichever driver is given the black flag must respond to a concern from NASCAR. Common examples include speeding on pit road, dropping debris on the track or failing to maintain the minimum speed on the track. Drivers have five laps to respond to the black flag. BLACK FLAG WITH DIAGONAL WHITE STRIPE: Any driver not obeying the black flag and pitting within five laps is shown this flag, indicating scoring of the car has been suspended until further notice. BLUE FLAG WITH DIAGONAL YELLOW STRIPE: VThis is the courtesy flag shown to drivers not on the lead lap. It indicates that the slower drivers should yield to the faster drivers approaching them. WHITE FLAG: Shown when the lead driver begins the race's final lap. CHECKERED FLAG: The most famous flag, the black and white checked flag is waved when the winner has crossed the start/ finish line.

Six crew members are routinely allowed over the wall during pit stops per NASCAR rules. At times, NASCAR will inform teams that a seventh crew member will be allowed over the wall for a pit stop with the responsibility of cleaning the windshield. An average efficient pit stop that consists of the changing of all four tires and a full tank of fuel can take anywhere between 13 and 15 seconds. The amount of pit stops during a race vary due to numerous factors - race length, caution flags, fuel mileage, tire wear and pit strategy to name a few. Below is a look at the pit crew and their responsibilities during a routine stop during a race. 1.

HOW DOES THE CHASE FOR THE NASCAR SPRINT CUP WORK
THE PROCEDURE FOR DECIDING NASCAR'S CHAMPION BY MATT WEAVER The 2014 season represented the decade long anniversary of the Chase for the Championship -- the NASCAR playoff system. And while change is nothing new for the format, the latest iteration represents the largest since its introduction prior to the 2004 campaign. Gone are the days of traditional points racing during either the 26-race regular season or the 10 race championship period. The field has been expanded from 12 to 16 with entry primarily being determined by race victories rather than the accumulation of championship points. So how does it work? The detailed explanation: THE REGULAR SEASON Under the provisions of the new format, 16 drivers will qualify for the new Chase for the Championship in a bracket called the Chase Grid. The top-15 drivers with the most wins during the 26-race regular season will automatically qualify for the playoffs regardless of where they end up in the standings – assuming they attempted to qualify for every race and remained in the top-30 in the standings. It’s worth noting that NASCAR has the right to issue a medical exception for a winning driver that misses several races but remains inside the top-30. The intent behind the creation of the new system was to increase the value of winning and going after victories rather than settling for top-5s and a "good points day," a phrase that NASCAR fans have begun to loathe in recent seasons. The 16th and final spot is reserved for the championship leader after the 26th race if he doesn’t already have a win. If such a scenario is not applicable, the 16th spot will go to the highest winner not already in the Chase. However, it is also highly unlikely that more than 16 winners will even win a race during the regular season -- something that has never happened during the sport’s modern era. The average number of race wins during the Chase era has been around 13 different winners. As a result, if fewer than 16 different drivers make it to Victory Lane, the remaining spots on the Chase Grid will be filled by the highest drivers in the standings without a win, maintaining a tiny element of points racing into the fold. No matter how it plays out, 16 different drivers will enter the first round of the Chase at Chicagoland Speedway with roughly an equal shot to win the Sprint Cup Championship. Any ties will be broken by number of wins and the position in the standings.

ROUND OF 16 Chicagoland, New Hampshire, Dover The Chase itself is now made of four distinct rounds best described as the "Sweet 16 on Wheels." The format features eliminations of four drivers every three races leading up to Homestead in the three race periods called the Round of 16, Round of 12, Round of 8 and the Championship 4. After the first three races of the Round of 16, the bottom four drivers in the Chase Grid will be eliminated from contention, leaving 12 drivers to advance to the next round. An exception will be made for any Chase driver who wins over the course of the first three races as that will result in an automatic advancement. Again, winning matters above all else in this new format. ROUND OF 12 Charlotte, Kansas; Talladega Just like the round that preceded it, the Round of 12 will cut the next four drivers at the bottom of the standings that haven’t won after the next three Chase races. The same rules apply as before with victories amongst the remaining Chasers resulting in an automatic advancement to the next round. Only eight Chase drivers will remain after the Round of 12 ROUND OF 8 Martinsville, Texas, Phoenix The next three races of the Chase will decide just who competes in the championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The same rules that applied in the first two rounds also apply in the Round of 8. Winning a race as a remaining championship eligible driver will result in automatic advancement. The bottom four of those remaining in contention without a win in the round will be cut, leaving four drivers to race for the Sprint Cup in South Florida. CHAMPIONSHIP 4 Homestead-Miami Speedway Be the first to finish line -- that's the goal for the four remaining Chase drivers in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The first championship eligible driver to cross the finish line in South Florida will win the Sprint Cup championship. The final race will feature neither points nor bonuses … just the need for contenders to beat their championship rivals. That’s as simple as it gets. Drivers who are eliminated in previous rounds will also have their points readjusted so that they can continue points racing for championship positions 5-16. Each eliminated driver will return to the Chase-start base of 2,000 points plus any regular season bonuses and the points they had earned up until their elimination.

NASCAR GLOSSARY OF TERMS: BANKING: The sloping of a racetrack, particularly at a curve or a corner, from the apron to the outside wall. Degree of banking refers to the height of a racetrack's slope at the outside edge. DIRTY AIR: Turbulence created by a lead car that negatively impacts the downforce and handling of a trailing car. GREEN-WHITE-CHECKERED FINISH: NASCAR's version of overtime, which allows up to three attempts at two-lap shootout finishes so that races don't end under caution. GROOVE: Slang for the fastest way around the racetrack. HANDLING: Generally, a race car's performance while racing, qualifying or practicing. How a car "Handles" is determined by its tires, suspension geometry, aerodynamics and other factors. LOOSE: Describes a car's back end wiggling and losing stability when entering or exiting a corner. When the back of the racecar feels like it wants to spin out. LUCKY DOG: TV slang; known by NASCAR as a "free pass" or "beneficiary." When a yellow flag is waved, the first lapped driver gets a lap back. PASS-THROUGH: A penalty (for infractions such as speeding on pit road) that forces a driver to make a trip down pit lane under green-flag conditions at pit-road speed. PIT ROAD: The area where pit crews service the cars. SAFER BARRIERS: "Steel and Foam Energy Reduction, " energy absorbent walls used at all NASCAR tracks to reduce crash impacts STICKERS: Slang term for new tires. The name is derived from the manufacturer's stickers that are affixed to each new tire's contact surface. TIGHT: Used to describe a car that has difficulty turning in the corner, usually requiring the driver to get out of the throttle. When the front of the racecar does not want to turn. TRACK BAR: A rear bar assembly that can be raised (to loosen the car) or lowered (to tighten) during the race. Pit crews access the track bar through the rear window using an extended ratchet. WAVE AROUND: During a caution, cars at least one lap down can stay out on the track and, provided all lead-lap cars pit, get waved around the pace car before the restart and get one lap back.
