One long summer ago, I wandered onto an island of pink sands. I had been reminded that an old friend was now living in this remote spot. As this island is only half a mile wide and three long, it did not take much detective work to find David. I walked into the small hotel he was manag ing. It was a warm afternoon, siesta hour, but our Casablanca moment. As the months rolled into years, David and I began to understand that our island life is a combination of our traditional British pasts and our richly flavored Caribbean present, all mixed up with our own eccentricities. This collection captures that – languid afternoons, swaying palm trees, turquoise waters and the pink sands at the heart of it all.

The island provided us with a blank canvas on which to paint our own story, including five children and multiple dogs, one of whom found his way into this fabric painted by an artist just for us.

It’s one thing to go to an island on holiday. It’s quite another to live there. After all, our island is proud of its fire engine, but no one knows where the keys are. This captures a bit of the wild and free feelings without the power outages.
