IN CONVERSATION WITH JOHN LEGUIZAMO The Emmy and Tony Award-winner shares lessons he’s learned, characters he’s encountered, his passion for education, and his struggles against racism and poverty, all with flair and humor. From November 2017 to February 2018, Leguizamo starred in the hit one-man Broadway show Latin History for Morons. Inspired by the near total absence of Latinos in his son’s American history class, Leguizamo embarked on a frenzied search to find a Latin hero for his son’s school project. From a mad recap of the Aztec empire to stories of unknown Latin patriots of the Revolutionary War and beyond, Leguizamo broke down the 3,000 years between the Mayans and Ricky Ricardo into 90 irreverent and uncensored minutes in his trademark style. The show was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play. Additionally, it was announced that Leguizamo would receive a special Tony Award for his lifetime body of work as both a playwright and performer.

“In theory, it sounds very difficult to talk non-stop for nearly two hours and manage to keep things engaging, but it seems effortless for Leguizamo…[whose] performance is so animated.”– On Stage & Screen

ENSEMBLE MIK NAWOOJ Never before have genres so disparate as hip-hop and classical meshed so seamlessly. Led by composer/pianist, JooWan Kim, Ensemble Mik Nawooj is a hip-hop orchestra that creates meta music by sampling classical composition techniques into hip-hop favorites, as well as original music. Executed with MCs/lyricists Do D.A.T. and Sandman, a lyric soprano, flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, drums, and bass, the music is rigorous, nuanced, and accessible. The result is seamless tête-à-tête with “textures swimming through the sound…like the world’s fastest ping-pong game” (Pitchfork) and is considered the “cutting edge of hip-hop” (Huffington Post).

GROUNDED

BY GEORGE BRANT Warrior. Mother. Partner. Pilot. Story of an ace fighter pilot whose career in the sky is ended early due to an unexpected pregnancy. Reassigned to operate military drones from a windowless trailer outside Las Vegas, she hunts terrorists by day and returns to her family each night. Piloting remotely in the “chair force” does not sit well and becoming a mother brings shifted connections and priorities. As the pressure to track a high-profile target mounts, the boundaries begin to blur between the desert in which she lives and the one she patrols half a world away. Ultimately, she struggles to compartmentalize her dual roles as a mother and a pilot become increasingly permeable.

ANNA IN THE TROPICS BY NILO CRUZ

The poignant and poetic play set in 1929 Florida in a Cuban-American cigar factory, where cigars are still rolled by hand, and “lectors” are employed to educate and entertain the workers. The arrival of a new lector is a cause for celebration, but when he begins to read aloud from Anna Karenina, he unwittingly becomes a catalyst in the lives of his avid listeners – for whom Tolstoy, the tropics, and the American dream prove a volatile combination. Infidelity, money problems, and violence spring to the surface as the owners and workers grapple with their newfound understanding of life, love, and business. THE BRITISH INVASION LIVE ON STAGE

This immersive multi-media show will place you at the front and center of pop culture history. Huge projection period photos and original film footage recreate the era’s excitement, fashion, and headlines; all the while a full live band performs all of the hits of the swingin’ 60s; the iconic British pop sound that swept across America and the world. The British Invasion was a cultural phenomenon that completely redirected the course of history. In January 1964, America was still mourning the death of President John F. Kennedy and everything seemed to be in a vacuum; music was dominated by manufactured teen idols; Elvis was in Hollywood; everything was squeaky clean and dull. On February 9, 1964, close to 50% of US television viewers tuned in to the #1 variety show of the era, The Ed Sullivan Show, to witness the American debut of a British group called The Beatles.
