Coaching Staff Jason Mangone HEAD FOOTBALL COACH
Jason Mangone joined the coaching staff in 1999, and was promoted to head coach in 2013 after serving as offensive coordinator since 2004. In his first season as head coach, he led the Golden Eagles to an 8-3 overall record, as well as the first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Conference Championship in school history and an East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northwest Bowl victory. Mangone played two years at Alfred before transferring to Brockport in 1997. He became the starting quarterback in both 1997 and 1998, setting season records for completion percentage and efficiency rating in his first season at Brockport. He received Rookie of the Year honors in 1997 and the Offensive Player of the Year Award in 1998. He was also the Rookie of the Year at Alfred in 1995. Mangone received his B.S. in Physical Education from Brockport in 2000 and earned a Master’s degree in Athletic Administration at the College in 2012. Mangone is a native of Lancaster, N.Y., and currently resides in Henrietta with his wife, Janine and sons Brendan and Evan. For full coaches’ profiles and team information visit gobrockport.com
Mike Fox
DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR Mike Fox joined the Brockport Football coaching staff in 2016. Previously Coach Fox served as the Defensive Coordinator for St. John Fisher for eight years. During his time at St. John Fisher, Fox was a part of six Conference Championships, six ECAC Championships and five NCAA National Playoff appearances including three quarterfinal finishes and a semi-final appearance. During his career, Fox mentored over 50 All-Conference players, two All-American linebackers, an Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year and a D3football.com All-Decade selection. Fox graduated from St. John Fisher in 2005. He was a four-year starter and two-time All-American inside linebacker. He set the Fisher single-season record with 151 tackles as a junior in 2003 and tallied 135 tackles in 2004, while helping guide the Cardinals to their first Empire 8 Conference title and the program’s first trip to the NCAA Division III Championship. Fox ranks not only first at Fisher in career tackles, but his 478 career tackles rank third all-time in the NCAA Division III.
Steve Potter OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR
Steve Potter joined the Brockport Football coaching staff in 2013 as Offensive Line Coach/Recruiting Coordinator. The Charleston, WV native played offensive line for West Virginia Tech before finishing his college playing career at West Virginia State University where he graduated with a degree in Political Science in 2007. In 2013 Potter helped Brockport set a new school rushing record and win its first NJAC Championship and ECAC Northwest Bowl Championship. He has guided 16 players to All-Conference honors as well as mentored three offensive linemen to All-American honors. In 2014, the offensive line was named D3Football.com National Offensive Line of the Week and No. 14 in the country in sacks allowed. Under Potter, the team earned number one scoring offense in the Empire 8 and No. 1 in sacks allowed in Empire 8 in 2015. Potter has been a part of three conference championships, two ECAC Championships and two NCAA Playoff Appearances.
Meet the Captains Dan Andrews Andrews had a standout year in 2015 in route to an Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year selection while breaking several school records in the process and finishing the season as the national scoring leader with a 15.6 points per game average. The junior rushed for 1,390 yard in 2015, and picked up an impressive 24 rushing touchdowns, the second best mark in Division III, in addition to two receiving scores. He had seven games with 100 or more rushing yards including his season best 256 yards against Utica College. He shattered several Brockport records along the way, including career rushing touchdowns with 44, season touchdowns at 26, and moved to second on the career rushing list with 3,732 total yards. He was named to the D3Football.com 2015 First Team All-East Region, D3football.com All-American Honorable Mention, and the ECAC Football All-Stars First-Team. Andrews played football at Franklin High School. He has two brothers, Romelis and Brandon and is the son of Romelis and Laurie Andrews. Andrews is seeking a degree in Nursing.
Jason Howard Howard saw action in all 10 games for the Golden Eagles in his junior campaign. He accounted for 40 tackles, with 27 solo tackles. He also had a broken up pass. Prior to playing for Brockport, Howard played football at John Marshall High School, and was named All-RCAC 2012. He is the son of Jason Howard and Carmellia Ross. Howard is seeking a degree in Kinesiology, Sport Science, and Physical Education.
Ed Suriano Suriano saw action in all 10 games for Brockport in 2015 on the defensive line. He had 21 tackles with 13 solo tackles. Suriano amassed an impressive six tackles for a loss of 33 yards, and five sacks for a loss of 27 yards. He also had two forced fumbles, and a recovered fumble returned for 58 yards and a touchdown. Suriano played football and lacrosse at Eastchester High School. He was invited to the Offense-Defense Senior Bowl Game in Dallas, TX and was also selected as an All-League defensive lineman. He is the son of Susan Lewkowitz, Patrick Costello and Dennis Suriano. He is seeking a degree in History.
Alex Egglinger Egglinger was a key contributor in 2015, seeing action in all 10 games for the Green and Gold. He led the defensive unit with 110 tackles, including 40 solo tackles. He also tallied 12 tackles for a loss of 37 yards, and accounted for three sacks for 22 sack yards. The junior also had one interception return for 21 yards, a forced fumble and a broken up pass. Egglinger earned Academic All-District honors, named to the District 3 First-Team and was also named to the Empire 8 President’s List. Egglinger played football at Northport High School and was named to the All-Division and All-County team and played in an All-Star game. Egglinger has one sibling, Scott, and is the son of Michael and Marie Egglinger. He is seeking a degree in Exercise Physiology.
Bob Boozer Field Brockport’s football team plays on Bob Boozer Field at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium. With seating for 10,000 fans, it is the 3rd largest on-campus Division III football stadium in the country. It features a new A-Turf playing field, a high-tech scoreboard with message center display capabilities, a newly installed speaker system, bleacher seating along both sidelines and a state-of-the art press box.
NCAA Division III Athletics The College at Brockport football team is a member of the NCAA Division III and competes in the Empire 8 Conference. Since the program began in 1947, there have been over 70 AllAmerican awards given to Golden Eagle football players. The College at Brockport has experienced on-field success reaching four consecutive trips to the NCAA National Playoffs between 2000-2003. In 2002 Brockport appeared in the “Elite 8” and was named ECAC Team of the Year and received the Lambert Cup Team of the Year award. Brockport has won two ECAC Championships in ’08 and ‘13 and most recently won the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship in 2013. Brockport’s success has been due, in part, to a high powered up-tempo no huddle offense. Over the last several years Brockport has continuously been ranked at the top statistically in conference and national categories. Traditionally, Brockport has been known for its tough and relentless defense, previously leading the nation in both scoring and pass defense. Defensively, the Golden Eagles have produced some of the best NCAA Division III talent in the country. Brockport has produced both Empire 8 Offensive and Defensive Conference Player of the Year awards. Many players have also continued their playing career at the professional level, most notable being Josh Warner ’01 (Chicago Bears / Washington Redskins), Jay Johnson ’02 (Pittsburgh Steelers / NFL Europe) and Bruce Doyle ’14 (AFL Tampa Bay Storm).

Athletic Training Room Six full-time staff members with Athletic Training Certifications offer 90 combined years of experience in athletic training. The team provides comprehensive care to our student-athletes through the use of the latest technology in therapeutic modalities as well as innovative functional assessment and rehabilitation techniques. Our Athletic Training Room provides student-athletes the benefit of high quality rehabilitation and physical training equipment. The facility has five taping tables, 13 treatment tables, three exercise bikes, one elliptical machine, one stair climber as well as a whirlpool machine.
Bill Steele Athletic Performance Weight Room It’s not a fitness center. It’s an athletic performance training facility, where Golden Eagle athletes prepare for their competitors through a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning program. Athletes will be able to push their bodies to maximize their athletic talents using the College’s high-speed treadmills, TRX trainers, kettlebells, inlaid Olympic platforms, free-motion functional trainers, VertiMax platforms, Elitefts Colligate power racks, speed and power sleds, an Ariel Computerized Exercise System (ACES) machine, and much more. All of our athletes train under the watch of experienced instructors.
the SERC Opened in 2012, the Special Events Recreation Center, a state-of-the-art facility, is a 138,000 square foot three-story building that serves as the home for Campus Recreation and the Golden Eagle Track and Field Program. In addition to serving as a venue for major campus events, the SERC—which consists of a dynamic fitness center and the impressive House of Fields—equips students with all the tools necessary to stay physically fit. Whether you’re interested in weight lifting, cardio, taking a Zumba class, working with a personal trainer or going for a run on the track, the SERC can help you reach all your fitness goals.
Residence Halls Living on campus at Brockport means more than just a place to sleep. The college residential experience serves as the foundation for developing friendships that last a lifetime. Our vibrant and safe living-learning environment helps students become successful members of our campus community. A resident director (RD) and a staff resident assistant (RA) provide leadership for each residence hall community. RDs and RAs are excellent sources of information and will help students make decisions, support students in developing responsibility and concern for others, and assist in acquiring a plan for academic success.
Dining Halls Students have many options when it comes to dining and meal plans. The College’s dining services are regularly ranked high within the SUNY system. Meal plans are designed to provide variety, flexibility and plenty of healthy dining options. Our diversified menus include vegan, vegetarian, and ethnic entrees, allowing students to enjoy their favorite foods and expand their palates. The two main dining halls, Brockway and Harrison, feature a wide selection of food stations and made-to-order choices. In addition to the two main dining halls, there are a number of cafÊs, late-night spots, and retail locations that offer a variety of meal options throughout the day.
Drake Memorial Library Drake Memorial Library houses nearly a half million items, plus online databases, research guides, the College Archives and more. It includes multiple computer labs and meeting/study rooms, enhancing the learning experience with audio, video, graphic, and web-based content. The library provides opportunities for 3D printing/scanning in the Makerspace and has a variety of tech tools available for loan. Librarians offer in-person as well as online research assistance and consultation. And, if you need a little caffeine for your study session, the Aerie CafĂŠ provides coffee and a varying menu to satisfy your cravings.
