FOOTSCRAY CENTRAL ACTIVITIES AREA Barkly Street West Barkly Street West is to be a thriving corridor of mixed use development consisting of set back residential towers with ground level commercial and retail land uses. Built form height is to be a maximum of nine (9) storeys to Barkly Street, and six (6) storeys at the interface to surrounding residential hinterland.Street wall frontage heights will be three (3) storeys, with a five (5) metre setback to upper levels.

THE VISION

Joseph Road Precinct The Joseph Road Precinct is the primary land reclamation/ urban renewal opportunity within the Footscray CAA, and is designated as the preferred location for employment/ commercial land uses of up to fourteen (14) storeys in height in appropriate locations (such as the former Le Mans site).

Station Precinct Footscray’s Station Precinct will be the key focus for development and built form intensification within the CAA, with key strategic sites - such as the current Footscray Market site on Barkly Street - identified as having the capacity to accomodate built form of up to twenty five (25) storeys in height. Other key development sites include VicTrack owned land adjacent to the Sunshine Rail Corridor on Irving Street (which could accomodate built form up to fifteen [15] storeys in height), as well as the current Hopkins Street car park site (built form up to twenty [20] storeys). Street wall frontage heights will be four (4) storeys, with a five (5) metre setback to upper levels.

McNab Avenue The McNab Avenue site will be host to key public sector land use and development, and will a key contributor of employment within the Footscray CAA. Built form is to be a maximum of fourteen (14) storeys, with residential components a maximum of four (4) storeys. Development is to be facilitated through land assembly.

Footscray Central Footscray Central will become a focus for development under the Footscray Structure Plan, with the former Dimmeys site (Paisley Stret) and current Kmart site (Albert Street) being redeveloped to a maximum of ten (10) storeys in height. Built form surrounding Maddern Square will be restricted to a maximum of four (4) storeys in height to facilitate solar access. Street wall frontage heights will be three (3) storeys, with a three (3) metre setback to upper levels.
