W ELCOME

Bromsgrove is a traditional and well-regarded boarding school, we have an excellent reputation for academic success whilst also bringing out the best in every pupil.

Bromgrove’s topic-based approach to language teaching in small groups caters for students from beginner to fluent levels and our small group English language classes suit all levels from beginners to fluent speakers.

At Bromsgrove we run our own Easter and Summer Camps and therefore have completely free use of all our facilities and staff. It means that our Easter and Summer Camps prices are extremely competitive whether for individuals or for groups.

The wide variety of fun activities on offer in the Multi-Activity programme and the range of exciting excursions to popular tourist sights all combine to make Bromsgrove International School the perfect Summer holiday.

Bromsgrove has a reputation that goes back over 500 years. As one of the UK’s top boarding schools we welcome pupils from over 70 different nationalities and we have extensive experience in the needs of young people living away from home.

We are proud to be able to offer our Easter and Summer visitors a true taste of what a traditional boarding school has to offer, as well as let them take advantage of our fantastic location to enjoy the very best of what England offers – from scenic walks on the Malvern Hills, to cultural trips to London and to thrilling rides at the many adventure parks within easy reach of us.

Bromsgrove is one of the top ten day and boarding schools in the UK, we excel at sports; our sports facilities are extensive and, like our 100 acres of grounds, are well maintained. Another area of strength is Music and Drama and many of our Easter and Summer Camps activities take advantage of our superb theatre and music performance spaces.

Our boarding houses are modern and comfortable, all rooms are ensuite. In each boarding house there are plenty of spaces to socialise, including Common Rooms and kitchens with plenty of spaces for youngsters to spend time together.

Bromsgrove School’s Summer Camp has been running for over ten years. In that time we are proud to have built an experience for our Summer visitors which is both fulfilling and rewarding.

This year we are offering two levels of English courses, Intensive English Language and Advanced English.

The English courses are combined with our Multi Activities which include Sports, Science, Crafts, Cookery, Swimming, Dance, Drama and Music plus many other exciting activities using our 100 acre campus. All programmes include time out of the classroom for fun activities and for full or half day excursions.

Courses, depending on ability, are for children aged 8 to 11 and 12 to 15. This allows the two groups to do their lessons and activities separately in an age appropriate environment.

We welcome parents of younger children (5 to 7 year olds) to accompany them to Summer Camps. During the day the children go to our Pre-Prep School to spend time in a Summer Camps setting, mixing with English children. Parents go on daily trips to London, Oxford, Stratford Upon Avon, Bicester Village, Manchester, Birmingham and more. Parents may have use of our School gym. Parents remain responsible for their children in the evening, including supper time, getting them ready for bed, spending the night with them and getting them up, showered and ready each morning. At the weekends, the children go on trips with the parents.

Dates are the same as for Summer Camps and parents pay the same two weekly rate as children. For more information please contact the Summer Camps organiser, Mrs Cath Giles.

EASTER AND S UMMER CAMPS IN DETAIL

Easter and Summer Camps class sizes at Bromsgrove are kept small which means all students can benefit from our specialist teaching.

Where students take part in group project work, classes may be slightly larger – these sessions give the groups an opportunity to present their work to other students at the end of the project.

Course Fees

Two week course £2,650 additional weeks £1,325. Please contact us for group rates.

The course fee includes transport to/from Birmingham or Heathrow airports at specified times, three meals a day, laundry service once a week, all teaching and school-based activities, four full-day excursions/trips each fortnight free Wifi and access to PCs.

INTENSI v E EN g LIS h LAN g UA g E

PRO g RAMME

The course is aimed at those whose level of English is beginner or intermediate.

Students take a placement test and questionnaire on arrival so that they can be placed in the best class for their needs, dependent on age and English ability. The ages, number and ability of students change week to week, and we adapt class levels to ensure they match students’ needs.

Half the day is spent in intensive English lessons, taught by specialist teachers from International House, Bristol. The English lessons will develop practical language skills in an English speaking environment, speaking and writing skills using a topic-based approach and oral communication skills though debates and presentations. Each student will receive 20 hours of English tutoring a week.

At the end of the two week course pupils will have:

• Strengthened their grammar

• Developed confidence and accuracy in speaking

• Improved their writing skills

• Improved their reading ability

• Increased their listening skills

The other half of the day is spent taking part in the Multi Activity programme where each child has a free choice of a wide range of activities to choose from.

AD v ANCED EN g LIS h

PRO g RAMME

For those students who are already fluent in spoken and written English or whose first language is English.

We offer an Advanced English course which will build on existing skills and also offers sessions in debating, public speaking, creative writing, magazine writing, report writing and presentations. The course is taught by specialist teachers. Some time is dedicated to the preparation of personal statements for University applications and interview skills.

As with the Intensive English course, half the day is split into English lessons with the other half spent taking part in multi-activities or going on trips.

MULTI ACTI v ITIES PRO g RAMME

On the Multi Activity course, students will spend half the day in English lessons and the other half is spent doing activities or going on external trips.

Activities on offer include a massive selection – sports, creative arts and technology, dance, fitness, cookery, team games and just about anything else we can think of!

Some activities sessions are also attended by local day pupils so that our international visitors have the chance to practise their English naturally.

Students who come to Bromsgrove for an Easter or Summer course will make friends for life from the local area as well as the rest of the world.

Planned activities for our Multi-Activity course will include some of the below:
