Jobs Fair for Bromsgrove Residents BROMSGROVE residents looking for a new job or a career change can go to a special event on February 5, between 10am and 3pm.
As well as the vacancies, the National Careers Service will also be providing a CV Clinic based on the Parkside site in the townʼs new library.
MP Sajid Javidʼs Jobs Fair will have hundreds of job and apprenticeship opportunities on offer from more than 40 employers. It takes place at the JobCentre Plus, in the new Bromsgrove Hub, the former Parkside Middle School. The event, supported by The Bromsgrove Standard, is back by popular demand after a very successful first fair last year.
Mr Javid said: “I want to support all of my constituents looking for a job – whether it be their first step on the ladder or a mid-career change.
Among the employers at the Jobs Fair will be Aldi, HSBC, Harris Brush, Tesco, Curo Chartered Accountants, Barrie Beard Ltd, GKN, Club Developments, Care Force Ltd, Oakland International, Jaguar Land Rover, HME Technology, Gym Shark, BT, Spencers Bromsgrove Ltd, SwiftACI, The National Trust, the NHS, the Army, the RAF, National Express, Rimilia, Cook & Associates and more.

Half Term Gymnastics Fun The sessions also incorporate sports-acro, rhythmic gymnastics and vault display work.
Children from across the district have the opportunity to take part in fun gymnastics sessions at a 3 day camp this half term. Bromsgrove District Council are teaming up with Bromsgrove Gymnastics Club to put on the camp on the 16th,17th and 18th February at Meadows First School.
Cllr Rod Laight, whose portfolio covers Leisure Services, said: “We are proud to have teamed up with Bromsgrove Gymnastics Club to once again provide children with the opportunity to get active and have some fun over the half term break. So if your child would be interested in trying something new, get in touch!” The cost of the camp is £38 for the three days. Please note that these sessions must be booked in advance as a course and cannot be booked on the day.
Children of all abilities, aged 5 to 15 years, can take part in the camp, which will run from 10am – 3pm each day. Participants will have the opportunity to learn various gymnastics disciplines such as vault, floor and bench work.

Trainers at the ready as Race for Life launches in Redditch REDDITCH women are being urged to sign up to Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life 2016, which takes place on Sunday June 12.
The charity is calling on women of all shapes and sizes to show cancer whoʼs boss by entering the 5k event at Arrow Valley Park. Katy Barley, Cancer Research UKʼs Redditch Event Manager, says: “Signing up to take part in Race for Life is a great way for women to commit to get a little more active. “Race for Life events are noncompetitive. Taking part is not about being fit or fast and participants can choose to walk, jog, or run around the course.The atmosphere is incredibly supportive. Pledging to take part, alongside thousands of like minded women, is a great motivation to get fitter.” One in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their lives, but the good news is more people are surviving the disease now than ever before.
Cancer Research UKʼs Race for Life, in partnership with Tesco, is an inspiring women-only series of 5k, 10k, Pretty Muddy and marathon events which raise millions of pounds to help beat cancer sooner by funding life-saving research. Last year, over 1000 women took part in Race for Life in Redditch and raised a fantastic £66,000. Money raised allows Cancer Research UKʼs doctors, nurses and scientists to advance research which is helping to save the lives of men, women and children across the West Midlands. Katy continues: “Race for Life is an amazing way to celebrate everyone we love who has survived cancer. Itʼs also an emotional and moving way to pay tribute to those dear to us whose lives have been cut short by the disease.”

A WORCESTERSHIRE charity is calling out for volunteers to help support vulnerable local people across the area. enjoy supporting people in their local community.” She added volunteers were ordinary people of all ages and backgrounds with good listening skills and time to spare.
Onside, an independent charity offering advocacy, mentoring and friendship is encouraging members of the community to get involved. The idea is to provide support to those who would otherwise be socially isolated by visiting them at home or encouraging social integration through communitybased activities. Volunteering at Onside does not involve domestic or personal care.
The charityʼs volunteer manager Claire Watkins said: “Our volunteers give their time, their passion and enthusiasm. We need continued help from willing volunteers who would

New Library in Bromsgrove Heralded a Great Success
THOUSANDS of people have visited Bromsgrove Library since it reopened in November last year. Visitor numbers are at the highest they have been for five years, with more than 16,000 people using the facility in its first month of opening. The new library, which is now on the site of the old Parkside School, has also gained 197 new members. Nicki Hitchcock, Bromsgrove Library Manager, said: "We love our new library. It's so light and airy and is such a great place to work.
"But what is really great is that our customers clearly really like it too. We have had lots of positive feedback, children who don't want to leave and a record number of new members joining. It is a great start to the new year." Cllr Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member with responsibility for localism and communities, urges people to visit the new library.
