Asda Bromsgrove customers give Artrix a boost Alison Huxley, Asda Bromsgrove’s Community Life Champion presented Artrix’s Director Hannah Phillips with a cheque for £50.00 in February.
The sum was awarded to Artrix on February 10, as a result of Asdaʼs Community Life project which supports charities and aims to make local communities better places to live and work.

The new Microchipping law comes into place 6th April 2016. This law states that all dogs must be microchipped and registered on a government compliant database by the time the puppy is 8 weeks old. Under the new regulations any owner with a dog that is not chipped or is chipped but the details are inaccurate of up to ÂŁ500.
Microchipping is a simple procedure; the chip is inserted in between the shoulder blades and is the size of a grain of rice. This then contains a unique number when scanned and is registered on a database with the owners contact information. At Clent Hills we are dedicated to ensuring that this new law is chipped. We offer a free scanning service for owners to bring their pets in to check if there is any doubt. We also recommend any of our clients to contact us to ensure that our records are up to date with chip numbers, to enable us to give the best service possible. Bromsgrove Stroke Recovery centre has been successfully running for 16 months with instructor Pete Rumbold leading the ARNI training team at the Altered Images gym on Worcester Road. Pete explains: “We have a very close partnership with the Life After Stroke Centre, Bromsgrove. We are into our 14th month of successful group sessions and also forging partnerships with local hospitals and community stroke teams. This enables us to help stroke survivors after discharge. Pete and Stuart Cooper, who is the Stroke Association, regularly visit stroke clubs around the West Midlands (70 in the area), giving talks on ARNI training and the progress of clients. Pete states: “Our patient numbers are growing every week and 25-35 stroke survivors attend our facility for one or two sessions per week. At the Bromsgrove Stroke Recovery centre, we also have a Rehab Membership and a survivors who have been told by their physicians or therapists that their recovery may be limited. We are very proud of our achievements and the fact that we are giving stroke survivors hope for real recovery.”

Top comedy from Paul Sinha, lots of fun Easter activities and a performance by one of Ireland’s biggest folk stars are amongst the highlights at Artrix this March. Cara Dillon has a staggeringly beautiful voice and will not disappoint whether she’s singing Irish traditional songs or her own compositions. The original Manfreds are back on the road too and their line-up on 12th March includes some of the original members. Award-winning stand-up Paul Sinha is having to juggle being an uncle and being in a relationship and has lots of funny things to say about his daily quandaries. The ever-popular Mark Watson, often seen on TV shows such as Mock the Week, is also back for a return visit. During the Easter holidays, there are two fabulous family theatre productions. Removal of duck feeding station to send rats packing “We are now considering whether the basic problem is having a duck feeding station in the vicinity of other park facilities.
Redditch Borough Council is seeking residents’ views on the removal of a duck feeding station that’s encouraging rats at a Redditch nature spot. The wooden feeding station, on Arrow Valley Lake in Arrow Valley Country Park, has come under the spotlight again after complaints about rats from park users have continued despite efforts to manage the situation. The chronic nature of the problem has led Redditch Borough Council to consider removing the feeding station altogether and residents with any views on the matter are now being invited to get in touch. The borough councilʼs Head of Leisure and Cultural Services John Godwin said:
“There are always going to be populations of rats in a semi-wild natural environment like a country park, but we can avoid encouraging them to areas we donʼt want them to be by not providing a reliable supply of food there.” A public information campaign in the summer, “Help the rat pack up”, encouraged park users to choose seed over bread when feeding ducks so rats would have to forage for food away from busier areas. However the problem persists.

Do you look through the local through your door or even from a canvasser. Whichever way you select a company you like the look of, you are open to what people in the trade call the hard sell.
