Being a Decisive Leader
Followers want leaders who can make good decisions and confidently stand behind those decisions. Research suggests that our decisions are often disrupted by an array of irrationalities and biases. We are overconfident. We seek out information that supports us and downplay information that doesn’t. We get distracted by shortterm emotions. Unfortunately, being aware of these shortcomings doesn’t fix the problem, so we have to learn how to do better. This session will offer you a better framework to use when making decisions. You’ll learn a step-by-step method to help with being decisive. You will also brainstorm and discuss practical solutions to common decisions we each have to make on a daily and weekly basis.

Avoiding Wage and Hour Mistakes
Wage and hour issues are arguably the most frequent labor law violations by employers. Wage and hour guidelines, as dictated by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) are changing. FLSA violations are likely to become even more prevalent as Congress and the courts broaden the scope of the law to cover more types of workers. As the makeup of a company’s workforce becomes increasingly varied, it is more crucial than ever to be aware of how the FLSA works. This session will unpack the mechanics of FLSA in simple terms. The instructor will utilize recent case studies to highlight real-world compliance issues that employers should learn to recognize and deal with appropriately.
