Business Consulting & Coaching At the Center for Business Development, we offer business consulting and coaching to companies and individuals within our district. We will consult with an aspiring entrepreneur to discuss the feasibility of an idea or engage in business coaching with a business owner. Whether you need marketing assistance, advice on identifying a new market for your product or service, or assistance learning how to hire great employees, we can help.
Center for Business Development
Business Incubation Business incubation is a focused process including management guidance, technical assistance and tailored consulting for young, growing companies. We engage in business incubation with both Residential and Virtual Tenants. Residential Tenants access services and rent dedicated office or lab space for up to three years. Virtual Tenants access services but do not rent space. Clients can move easily between both tenant types depending on their business needs and situation.
Networking & Education Events We organize opportunities for entrepreneurs and small businesses to listen and learn from each other. We also offer regular sessions on the basics of starting a business as well as partner with our local chambers of commerce to bring education and training events to the communities in our district.

CAREER SERVICES Our Career Planning Center staff can help you make career decisions based on your situation and needs. A variety of options are available to help you determine your strengths and interests. We will work together on a plan to help you achieve your career goals.
COOPERATIVE ALLIANCE Earn college credit while you’re at Meridian Technology Center and apply that toward an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree. No extra assignments, just college credit for the work you’ll be doing already.
ASSESSMENT A number of assessments are available to assist in learning more about: • Your abilities • Your interests • Your personality • Your values
The A.A.S. is a technical workforce degree. An A.A.S. degree is a great path to follow for someone who is planning on directly entering the workforce after earning the degree. The technical college courses are specific to the technical workforce degree (A.A.S.) and do not apply to other degrees designed to transfer to bachelor of arts (B.A.) and bachelor of science (B.S.) degrees. However, some credit may apply to a specific bachelor of technology degree.
JOB PLACEMENT SERVICES Meridian Technology Center instructors assist current students who will be seeking full-time, permanent employment upon successful completion of their training programs. Students can also receive assistance in résumé writing, interview techniques, and job search activities.
Students are responsible for meeting college requirements and completing the admission process before college credit is granted. Credit is not automatic. Please contact the Career Planning Center for details.
TUITION High school students from the Meridian district may attend full-time training free of charge. Tuition for adult students and those living outside the district is dependent on the specific career major. Tuition rates are subject to change until class starts. Please contact the Career Planning Center for tuition details. A deposit is required for each class and is applied to tuition. FINANCIAL AID Adult students may be eligible for financial assistance through grants and scholarships. Sources of aid are federal, state, institutional, community, foundation, and business and industry programs. Additional information on financial aid programs offered at Meridian is available in the Financial Aid Office located in the Career Planning Center. Office hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. NEXT STEP SCHOLARSHIP The Next Step Scholarship is designed to assist students who were either not able to attend or complete their studies at Meridian while in high school. The scholarship is a tuition waiver for high school graduates of the Meridian district who want to begin or complete a career training program within two years of their graduation. Scholarship details and applications are available from the Career Planning Center.

Personal & Professional Interest Courses HVAC Certification
Designed with the working person in mind, the program combines nationally recognized curriculum delivered on demand with in class laboratory instruction by an HVAC professional. Students need Internet access for assignments and progress at their own pace to complete courses as quickly as they desire. Students may enroll in individual courses or the series for those seeking to enter the HVAC field as an apprentice. Courses begin monthly. Students are required to complete all assignments and performance tasks with a competency of 80% or better.
Introduction to HVAC/R
Learn the basic principles of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning; career opportunities in HVAC; and how apprenticeship programs are constructed. Basic safety principles, as well as trade licensure and EPA guidelines are also introduced. Additionally you will learn trade mathematics to solve HVAC/R trade-related problems involving the measurement of lines, area, volume, weights, angles, pressure, vacuum and temperature. Also includes a review of scientific notation, powers, roots and basic algebra and geometry. Gain knowledge of basic electricity concepts of power generation and distribution, common electrical components, AC and DC circuits, electrical safety and reading and interpreting wiring diagrams as it relates to the HVAC field.

Introduction to Heating, Cooling and Air Distribution Systems
Learn the fundamentals of heating systems and the combustion process. The different types and designs of gas furnaces and their components, as well as basic procedures for their installation and service. Introduction to Cooling explains the fundamental operating concepts of the refrigeration cycle and identifies both primary and secondary components found in typical HVAC/R systems. You will be able to describe the principles of heat transfer and the essential pressure temperature relationships of refrigerants. Air Distribution Systems teaches the factors related to air movement and its measurement in common air distribution systems. You will learn the mechanical equipment and materials used to create air distribution systems.

Introduction to Piping Practices and Brazing
You will learn basic copper, plastic and carbon steel piping practices. You will gain knowledge of how to identify types of copper tubing and fittings used in the HVAC/R industry and how they are mechanically joined. The identification and application of various types of plastic piping, along with their common assembly and installation practices, are also presented. Soldering and brazing equipment, techniques and materials used to safely join copper tubing through both soldering and brazing will be taught.

HVAC Compressors and Alternating Current
You will learn operating principles of the different types of compressors used in comfort air conditioning and refrigeration systems, along with basic installation, service, and repair procedures for these compressors. Additionally you will learn about the principles of alternating current, covering transformers, singlephase and three-phase power distribution, capacitors, the theory and operation of induction motors, and the instruments and techniques used in testing AC circuits and components. Understanding Duct Systems & Air Quality
This course will teach you to better understand chimneys, vents and flues, sheet metal duct systems, fiberglass and flexible duct systems, commercial airside systems, air quality equipment, and an introduction to hydronic systems. Learn the principles of venting fossil-fuel furnaces and the proper methods for selecting and installing vent systems for gas-fired heating equipment. Additionally, this course covers layout; fabrication; installation; and insulating sheet metal, fiberglass and flexible ductwork. Includes selection and installation of registers, diffusers, dampers and other duct accessories. You will be able to describe the systems, equipment and operating sequences used in a variety of commercial airside system configurations. You will learn hot water heating systems, focusing on safe operation of the low-pressure boilers and piping systems commonly used in residential applications.

You will gain knowledge necessary to complete certification for the EPA 608 Refrigerant Handling Exam. Topics include the ozone depletion issue, handling of refrigerant and leak detection. The training includes an informational booklet needed to prepare technicians to become certified to recover and contain refrigerant for both high-pressure and lowpressure air conditioning and refrigerant equipment. Internal communications is a constant struggle. People often complain that they don’t know what is going on inside their organization, but then they don’t pay attention to the information you try to give them. Bonnie Cain-Wood, Senior Communications Specialist for OSU Libraries, will explain how she’s adapted and developed her internal communications efforts over the past few years. You’ll learn how to evaluate your internal communications needs, develop a communications plan based on the information you gather and how to execute the process for your employees. Although your plan probably won’t ever be perfect, your employees will appreciate your efforts and your company culture will most likely improve in the process!

Manufacturing Welding Fundamentals
This course is the study of welding for beginners. The course will begin at whatever level of experience you have. Participants will learn how to set up the welding machine for different kinds of metals. You will learn different welding joints and all positions. Lean Administration
A first step to learning the principles of Lean Enterprise. This course, similar to the popular Lean 101 course, mixes classroom and live simulation to teach principles that can be applied to an office environment. No previous experience is required. Participants work through a real-time administration processing situation. The results of the first simulation provide the basis for continuous improvements to the office setting.

This Oklahoma state-certified class will remove 2 points from an Oklahoma driver’s license and may provide a reduction of vehicle insurance premiums.

The Boat Oklahoma Course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and includes information on navigation rules, state boating laws, safe vessel operation, equipment requirements, boating courtesy and other boating safety topics. Oklahoma state law requires that everyone between ages 12 and 16 years of age complete a NASBLA-approved course before operating any boat powered by a motor in excess of 10 horsepower, including personal watercraft or any sailboat 16 feet in length or greater. Most insurance companies will give a discount to boat owners who complete the course. Please check with your insurance company for individual discounts.

A non-refundable deposit is required to confirm enrollment for each class. This deposit guarantees your enrollment in the class of your choice and is applied to your tuition. A $50 deposit is required for classes $399 and under. A $100 deposit is required for classes $400 and over. The deposit can be paid with a check or money order (payable to Meridian Technology Center) with a VISA, MasterCard or Discover Card. Deposit is refundable only if class is cancelled by Meridian Technology Center. The balance of tuition is due by the first class meeting and is non-refundable.
