FALL COURSE CATALOG
It is the start of a new school year filled with new possibilities. It’s also a time for opportunities. In addition to Meridian’s full-time career training programs, we offer short courses that focus on personal and professional development, customized business and industry services and entrepreneurial support. These classes are a great way to learn a new skill, explore a hobby or create an experience with a group of friends. This catalog details the more than 100 short courses we will offer this fall. These classes meet anywhere from a few hours over one day to a few days a week. Short courses are offered on Meridian’s campus in Stillwater. We also offer classes in Guthrie and Perry that enable residents to learn locally. I am happy to share that you can now register for all of our short course selections online at meridiantech.edu/shortcourses. This simple process gives you the chance to sign up and secure your spot whenever it fits your schedule, not just when our campus is open. Ideas for many of our most popular courses come from you – the people we are here to serve. If there’s something you’d like to see us offer, let us know. Whatever your plans are, we hope that Meridian Technology Center can be a part of them.

The Power of the Strengths Zone Ever wonder why some tasks are accomplished so easily, almost with very little effort, while other tasks seem difficult and laborious to complete? Ever get so engrossed in a task or project that you lose all concept of time? All individuals have natural strengths and weaknesses. In our society, even from an early age, we are told to work harder to improve our weaknesses. Studies have shown though that maximizing your strengths actually improves performance and attitude far more than working to improve weaknesses. This course will show participants the value of working in a strength zone and how employees are much more highly engaged when given opportunities to work in their own strengths. 08/24

Adults Adult students can chose from either the morning or afternoon session or attend all day, depending on program availability and their schedule. Tuition for adults and those living outside of the district depends on the specific program. Adults may also be eligible for financial aid through grants and scholarships and should visit with the Financial Aid Officer. Adult students may apply on our website.
Class Schedule Morning: 7:50-10:40 am Afternoon: 12:45-3:35 pm Sessions begin each August and January.
College Credit In some of the programs at Meridian, college credit may be available once you complete a career major. Awarded credits may apply toward an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S) degree at Northern Oklahoma College in business management or entrepreneurship or an Associate of General Sciences degree at Cowley College. You can also accelerate your education at OSU Institute of Technology – Okmulgee through prior learning assessments. An A.A.S. is a technical workforce degree and is a great path for someone who plans on entering the workforce immediately after earning the degree. College credit is specific to the technical workforce degree and usually does not transfer to a bachelor’s degree.

center for business development Support for Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses The process of converting an idea into a business venture requires intensity, focus and a support network. Our mission is to help entrepreneurs build strong businesses, and we do that in three ways.
Center for Business Development
Business Consulting & Coaching We provide business consulting and coaching to early-stage companies and aspiring entrepreneurs. We’ll help you explore the feasibility of an idea, identify a new market for your product or service, evaluate your marketing, understand how to hire the right employees and more. Business Incubation When You’re Starting a Business Business incubation is a focused process that includes management guidance, technical assistance and consulting for young, growing companies. Entrepreneurs can locate their business in the Center for Business Development as a residential or virtual tenant. Residential tenants have access to services and rent dedicated office or lab space for up to three years. Virtual tenants have access to our services but do not rent space. Entrepreneur Training and Events Why be forced to learn from your mistakes, when you could avoid them in the first place? We provide several opportunities for entrepreneurs and small business owners to listen and learn from each other. We also partner with local chambers of commerce to bring education and training events to the communities we serve.
