IT’S TIME TO TEAM UP WITH TECH!

meridiantech.edu

Did you know that as long as you live in the Meridian district and meet the requirements, your home-schooled student can attend Tech too? Students who live in the Agra, Carney, Glencoe, Guthrie, Morrison, Mulhall-Orlando, Pawnee, Perkins-Tryon, Perry and Stillwater school districts can attend either a morning or afternoon session during their junior and senior year at no cost. Classes held during the morning session are from 7:50 – 10:40 and the afternoon classes are from 12:45 – 3:35. Sophomores can enroll in afternoon programs when space is available. The Meridian STEM Academy is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors. The admissions process for home-school and virtual school students is similar to students in Meridian’s district high schools. We will need a little extra information about your child’s academic history. When your child submits an application to Meridian, include documentation regarding: • Age verification – students must be 16 years old before August 1 to attend Meridian as a high school student. If they are enrolling in the STEM Academy, they will need to be at least 15. • Transcript – students must provide a valid official transcript or a written high school curriculum outline. • Copy of immunization records • Assessment results – scores from a professionally administered standardized achievement test. Applicants to the Pre-Engineering or Biomedical Sciences STEM Academy must take the Pre-ACT or ACT at Meridian Technology Center before completing the application process. • Affidavit – notarized statement that students are home-schooled. Several people at Meridian are notaries, and they will be glad to help you with this. Examples of acceptable standardized tests can be found at meridaintech.edu/enrollment. Students applying for Meridian’s STEM Academy will also need to submit either the Biomedical Sciences or Pre-Engineering interview questions and a recommendation letter with their application.

Meridian can be a valuable resource even before your child is eligible to enroll! Tech provides a wide range of services for current and prospective students including assessment and career information. Meridian is a designated administrator of the 8th grade reading proficiency test that is required for the Oklahoma driving permit test. Students must be 15 and half years old to take the reading test.
