DECEMBER 2020
Hello Parents, Families, and Community Members,
#BrookwoodStrong
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Although the holiday season will not be typical, we are working hard to provide Longwood students with a few exciting events this month. One plan in the works is for Santa to visit our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes virtually. Your classroom teacher will let you know if and when we will be scheduling Santa to visit. The First Grade team has been working hard to provide more materials for at-home instruction. Look for a message from your teacher on when these items will be available to pick-up. The Pre-Kindergarten Package 2 materials are still available for pick-up. Call the office to set up a time to come in. As a reminder, the District will stay in remote learning at least through January. Please help in keeping students in attendance for live meetings. We have over 90% of our students attending during the morning sessions, but this drops off during afternoon sessions. The afternoon sessions are usually small group sessions with instruction directed towards a student’s individual needs. If you need any support or assistants, please contact your child’s teacher through ClassDojo or contact the front office at (708) 757-2100. f

What A Success!!!
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences Were Successful!!! We held our ev ry first Virtual tenPar eachr T onfC esncr last month on November 2nd. Before the start, there were many ef ars and concerns about whether this would work. We have to say this conference was possibly one of our most successful meetings. We usually measure our success at the conference through the number of sessions attended.
We had a fantastic turnout of conferences this year. The most important part of this conference was the relationship built relationships between our teachers and parents. Parents and teachers discussed more than just a grade or a test score. There were conversations about working together through the pandemic for the child’s success academically and emotionally.
THANK YOU TO ALL THE FAMILIES WHO WERE ABLE TO JOIN!!!
