As
The Browning School celebrates its 125th
anniversary, the community has enjoyed browsing through a treasure trove of
archival material, including publications, photographs and all manner of memorabilia, from batting helmets to varsity
sweaters. We thank the 2013 Form VI parents for establishing
a fund to maintain and perpetuate these wonderful archives. Imagine our joy in discovering a finely preserved inaugural issue of The Browning Buzzer, kept on file since its debut in
December 1920. At the time of its printing, the Buzzer staff was bidding farewell to founding Headmaster John A. Browning and welcoming Arthur J. Jones as his successor. Originally, the magazine was a student-driven publication; today it is published three times a year by the Office of Institutional Advancement. Martin Haase, who directs this Office,
suggested we share a reprint of that first Buzzer with you. Cover art by George H. Shorey, Shop teacher at Browning, 1920
