Jubli Perak 1986-2011 Silver Jubilee FACEBOOK BASIC TRAINING By Dyg Hjh Pusparaini Hj Thani
A group of 15 librarians from various libraries participated in the training organized by BLA in cooperation with ebunda.org on Friday 17 February 2012. The half day training was facilitated by Dyg Nur Azimah Hj Zaili and Dyg Narissa from BAG Networks Sdn Bhd and held at the eZone, Mindef Library and Info Centre. Pn Nellie, BLA President in her Welcome Remarks reminded librarians that they have to embrace social networking and learn how to use it in engaging with their customers. Social networking is a powerful, instantaneous, simple to use tool to advertise about library services and resources and to reach the mass. The training began with an introduction to social networking, what is Facebook, profile, create a page, connecting with your audience, extra features, and netiquette. The participants enjoyed the hands-onsessions and had an interactive session with the facilitator. The participants left with positive remarks and encouraged other librarians to join future trainings. Go to page 3

PUSAT TINGKATAN ENAM TUTONG LIBRARY By Nur Nadzirah Zainul’Ariffin Pusat Tingkatan Enam Tutong (PTET) was established in 2002. At that time PTET did not have its own building and was temporarily housed at Sayyidina Othman Secondary School Tutong for teaching and learning until the school opened on 18 October 2011. The library was opened in December 2011 when three library staff are directed to work in PTET Library. The College now has its own building sited at Kampong Perpindahan Bukit Beruang in Tutong, with 42 teaching staff and 17 general staff. As a junior college library we have a mission to promote the library. PTET library's vision and mission is to provide an innovative and systematic library to support teaching and learning process and also to provide assistance and guidance in library and information services for the school community. Our objective is to nurture students interest in literature, to facilitate the effectiveness of the learning process as well as reading skills and also to encourage reading culture as a part of daily life.
At this time the library does not have sufficient library materials to meet our needs. We strive to obtain the materials by applying for contributions as well as special expenses from the Ministry of Education to develop the library collections. For the time being we are still trying to get the materials needed by our users.

HASSANAL BOLKIAH TROPHY The 4th Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy for ASEAN Youth Football Championships organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) in collaboration with the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) was officially opened by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaullah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on 25 February 2012.
The Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy for ASEAN Youth Football Championship was first launched in 2002. It was opened to under 21 years old football players from ASEAN member states.
The championship was initiated by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Dipertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam in 2007 calling for a football tournament among the ASEAN member states. An extract of His Majesty's Titah when he visited the Institute of Diplomatic And Foreign Relations, Kuala Lumpur on August 27, 1997, stated that:
"Having our best and brightest students, our future leaders, immersed in another ASEAN country will deepen their understanding and allow them to form valuable networks."
"Secondly, I observe that sports can reach out to people in all walks of life. Of all spectator sports, soccer has the greatest following in Southeast Asia."
"Having an ASEAN or Southeast Asian soccer league will deepen the awareness of ordinary people of ASEAN countries."
"Let all the best teams of our region compete in the league. If Europe can have a European League, Latin-America a Latin-American League and Africa its African League, why is there not a Southeast Asia League?"
