As Louisville, Kentucky’s only waterfront hotel, the legendary Galt House Hotel provides convenient access to entertainment venues, museums, theaters, and distilleries. The 1,310 guestrooms, suites, and residences are reflective of Louisville’s energy, excitement, and contemporary spirit. Originally opened in 1835, the Galt House Hotel was built on the site where Dr. W.C. Galt once lived. After the original hotel burned to the ground, it was rebuilt shortly thereafter only to close its doors in 1919 when many businesses were moving away from the riverfront which decreased traffic to the area. Thankfully, local developer Al J. Schneider envisioned a thriving business district near the

waterfront which included an expansive convention hotel. The third Galt House Hotel opened in 1972 with only a single tower of guestrooms.

After three decades of operation, it was time for the Galt House Hotel towers to undergo a major renovation. Bryan Ashley worked hand-inhand with Swope Design Group to bring to life the retro vibe the ownership company was searching for. A moodiness was created in the lobby, bars, and restaurants; while guestrooms were designed with lighter and brighter colors creating a classic, clean environment.

Graduate Hotels

Ben Weprin, CEO of AJ Capital Partners, states that “We create hotels that reflect the towns and the universities they inhabit. Every hotel is designed to tell a story of the community, of the people, of the traditions. It’s not manufactured. It’s not forced. It’s organic and you can really feel that love and you need an artist to do that.” The team at Bryan Ashley is proud to have provided high-quality custom furnishings for these and several other Graduate hotels located in the U.S. and United Kingdom.
