Brittany Glenn ’11 The first day of Brittany Glenn’s internship with the Boston Celtics just happened to coincide with a critical game in the team’s quest to become the NBA Champions last spring. The team ultimately came up short – but the experience was a memorable one for Glenn. “Having the opportunity to be on the court for the pre-game introductions was seriously unbelievable,” says, Glenn, who worked with the game operations director to coordinate sideline activities during the Celtics playoff run. “I was so overwhelmed with excitement it was difficult to keep my composure.” Glenn learned about the internship through a friend who is a Bryant alumnus working for the Celtics. She sought assistance from the Amica Center for Career Education to polish her résumé and to get tips for a successful interview.

“My Bryant education gave me the confidence to enter a well-established franchise knowing I was capable of handling any situation that arose.

Justin Andrews ’10 Justin Andrews ’10 made such a good impression as an intern at Mediapeel, a Lincoln, RI-based marketing firm that specializes in content development and delivery using traditional and new media, he was offered a position after graduation. Andrews now works as a business developer. As a student, Andrews was part of the marketing class that won a competition to name the innovative intermodal transportation system at Rhode Island’s T.F. Green Airport. Andrews and his team developed a logo, tagline, and a brand. “Bryant more than fulfilled everything it claimed to offer on my first tour,” he says. “It gives its students every opportunity to succeed.”

“Bryant prepared me to look at organizations from a number of perspectives and to evaluate strategies from both a quantitative and qualitative standpoint.

Nicole Scott ’10 Nicole Scott ’10 worked as a finance intern in the tax department for Raytheon International Support Company, where she calculated the taxes for employees on overseas assignments. She also assisted in the operation and logistics of the accounting department. Raytheon’s finance interns also took part in a major community service project. “We volunteered at the local public high school for the “Let’s Get Ready” program, helping first generation high school students prepare for the SAT. We put in so many hours – two days a week and many hours of preparation outside of work. “I was able to give back to the Raytheon community and to help students beyond what they would have learned in the classroom. It was a rewarding experience and I gained a newfound respect for professors!”

“This internship exceeded my expectations. I became an asset to the team and developed great networking skills for the future.

Alexandra Pearson ’11 Alexandra Pearson ’11 credits an internship at Reebok in Canton, MA, for opening her eyes to vast career opportunities in market research. During her second internship with Reebok, she was a Consumer Insights Intern in the company’s Brand Strategy Department.

“The team I worked with was small, so that allowed me to spend a great deal of time working with each person.”

Through online communities and focus groups, she researched how the Reebok brand resonates with consumers, compiled competitive analyses on categories within the industry, and evaluated qualitative research. She’s taken part in a project that involved skateboarders on the Dew Tour in Boston and has also traveled to Dallas and Phoenix to observe focus groups. Pearson says the team she worked with made a strong impression on her. “Their wisdom and knowledge of the industry, as well as consumer research, is what I aspire to in my own career.”

A.J. Toto ’10 After experiencing what it was like to run a campus radio station, A.J. Toto ’11 looked to sharpen his skills interning at SIRIUS Satellite Radio in New York City. During two separate internships at SIRIUS, Toto worked with the “The Howard Stern Show” and “The Jay Thomas Show.” On a typical day, he would help edit, screen phone calls, and run board operations. He also did on-air bits with Thomas, the staff, and guests. No matter what they threw at him, Toto felt he could handle anything. “Bryant faculty prepared me to deal with different business situations in a professional manner,” he says. “My experience with WJMF 88.7, Bryant’s student-run radio station, definitely helped me to land my internships.”

“I learned from professionals with decades of experience and received the best preparation on the use of the industry’s tools, software, and equipment.”

Merry Le ’08 Having made a solid impression during internships at Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation throughout her college years, Merry Le was offered a full-time job before she started her senior year. “In an engineering and operation-dominant company, one of the most exciting and rewarding parts of my job is making marketing matter,” says Le, who helps to plan production, conduct research and analysis, and market forecast in international military markets. As part of the team collecting consumer input for Sikorsky Aircraft’s next generation helicopter, Le is “really excited to help make history.” Of Bryant, Le says, “every group project, paper, and deadline prepared me beyond the requirements I needed to do my job. I learned to understand group dynamics, resolve issues and deliver on time.”

“Bryant offered me a positive environment for learning, great professors, a network and family. The academic and life lessons I learned helped me grow and also improved my character and business skills which will stay with me forever.

“Working at the company allowed me to make sure this type of work is something I would enjoy doing full time.

Jacob Bruschi ’10 Jacob Bruschi ’10 was a few months from graduating. Still, he was busy meeting with clients to discuss the details of one of the most important decisions they will make: their life insurance policies. He did this as an intern working for Northwestern Mutual, the nation’s largest provider of individual life insurance. For his efforts, Bruschi was ranked as one of the top interns among the company’s more than 2,100 interns around the country. Bruschi, who was affiliated with The Southern New England Group in Providence, RI, says, “the internship also gave me a head start building a client base and learning the ins and outs of the business. I really hit the ground running after I graduated.”

Emily Holland ’10 As an intern at CBS affiliate WBZ-TV in Boston, Emily Holland ’10 promoted the Lion King Musical. She worked with a non-profit organization, Buzzing 4 Change, at a haircutting charity event on the Boston Common. At WBZ headquarters, she regularly assisted with marketing presentations, helped to plan and organize promotional events, and courted potential clients during sales and ad calls. Most importantly, she learned the value of networking. “Several of my professors had urged my fellow classmates and me to get out there and meet people in a professional setting,” she says. “That internship showed me how to do that.” “I trusted that my education prepared me for a professional life,” she continues. “I am proud to tell potential employers that I am a Bryant graduate.”

“I’ve created relationships with people at CBS Boston and beyond, opening the door to a possible future career path.”
