ENGLISH:

Reading: Greta and the Giants; Pebble in my Pocket; Leon and the Place Between. Writing: Poetry on a theme (emotions); First person narrative descriptions; Non-chronological reports; Formal letters to complain; Dialogue through narrative (historical stories); Performance poetry (including poetry from other cultures).

MATHS:

Place value: PartitionHTO; numbers on a number line; Greater and less than; Identify, represent and estimate numbers using different representations. Addition and Subtraction: Add and subtract numbers mentally; Add and subtract numbers with up to 3 digits, using formal written methods; Solve problems, including missing number problems. Shape: Draw/recognise 2-D and 3-D shapes in different orientations; Recognise angles as a property of shape or a description of a turn.

SCIENCE:

Rocks: compare group rocks; describe in simple terms how fossils are formed; recognise that soils are made from rocks and organic matter. Animals Including Humans: understand nutritional needs of the body; identify that humans have skeletons and muscles for support, protection and movement

HISTORY:

Stone Age to Iron Age: timelines; locating dates in history such as Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods; comparing times in History with present life; artefacts, burials, monuments and places;

GEOGRAPHY:

Physical and Human geography: climate zones, biomes, types of settlement and land use; economic activity including trade links. Map Skills: use atlases, globes and digital/computer mapping to locate countries and describe features studied. Use the eight points of a compass

COMPUTING: Internet safety; Emails

ART & DESIGN:

Drawing and Painting: Invent marks and repeat for effect; Combine drawing and Mix colours; combine shapes and marks. Printing; Exploration of printing tools and materials; monoprinting and block printing.

MUSIC: Students will learn about the difference between a pulse and a rhythm. They will also be introduced to the concept of a time signature and music notation. Throughout this unit, students will have the opportunity to play on percussion instruments, work in small groups and sing.

PE: Gymnastics; Athletics; Swimming
