ART:

Textiles and Collage - Create and comment on the effects created by collage. Weave with a range of materials. Use the technique of appliqué to represent natural textures and lines. 3D Artwork - Use the technique of découpage. Make impressions in a smooth clay surface.

DESIGN TECHNOLOGY:

Textiles - Compare suitability of materials for particular uses. Use a range of stitches including blanket stitch. Mechanisms - Explore pulleys and gears and their applications. Make a structure containing a pulley system for a specific purpose

COMPUTING:

Digital Citizenship - Understanding copyright and fair use. Web Design - Using Google Sites, and a range or royalty free resources to create a website. Creating and downloading moving images. (GIFs) Google Skills - Collaboration on documents, sharing (via email) documents and encouraging responsible use. Editing and altering text for effect (content, font, size and colour.)

ARABIC (NON-NATIVE): Students will use their previous knowledge of opinions to describe eating preferences, and will apply role plays to the topic of ordering food and drink at a restaurant. They will have fun designing and creating menus before moving on to the new topic of work.

MFL:

French We will learn all about the planets in French and focus specifically on sentence structure and adjectival agreement. Through the ‘Olympic Games’ topic students will learn how to describe the sports they play / do using prior knowledge of cognates and opinions to support them.

MATHS:

Multiplication and Division – Multiply 2, 3 and 4 digit numbers by 1, multiply 2, 3 and 4 digit numbers by 2, divide 2, 3 and 4 digit numbers by 1, divide with remainders. Fraction - multiply non-unit fractions by an integer, multiply mixed numbers by integers, calculate fractions of a quantity, fraction of an amount, using fractions as operators, fraction problem solving. Decimals and percentages - decimals up to 2dp, decimals as fractions, understand thousandths, thousandths as decimals, rounding decimals, order and compare decimals, understand percentages, percentages as fractions and decimals, equivalent fraction, decimal and percentages. Perimeter and Area - calculate the perimeter of composite rectilinear shapes; calculate and compare the area of rectangles Statistics - solve problems using information presented in a line graph; complete, read and interpret timetables.

SCIENCE:

Earth and Space - The movement of the Earth and other planets relative to the sun. The movement of the moon relative to the Earth and the moons phases. The rotation of the Earth and its relationship with day and night. Season differences in the northern and southern hemisphere. Animals Including Humans - Growing and the human timeline. Comparing the gestation periods and lifespans of different animals.

HUMANITIES:

Geography: Location study of the world. Physical geography, including: climate zones, biomes and vegetation belts, rivers, mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes, and the water cycle.


MUSIC:

Music At An Exhibition How is Music and Art linked? Have there been musical compositions created about a piece of art? Has music inspired artwork? Students will explore the a collection of work by Russian composer Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky before creating their own composition inspired by a famous piece of artwork.

ENGLISH:

PE:

In games, the boys will take part in Football, while the girls will take part in Netball. They will develop their skills in isolation and apply into competitive situations. In PE, the students will continue to Swim as well as Gymnastics. They will develop fundamental skills such as rotations and balances and put them into routines.
