9th May ~ Year 1
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Blandford St Mary, Welcome back for the Summer Term! I hope you all enjoyed the sunshine (and chocolate) over the Easter holidays – the children have certainly recharged their batteries and are full of energy! The teachers have prepared an exciting curriculum for the term, packed with sports, art and topics to inspire the best learning. The curriculum letters will be with you shortly. I feel very privileged to have been appointed Head at Blandford St Mary and look forward to getting to know the special BSM family over the coming weeks. The children are being very patient with me as it takes time to commit 190 names to memory for instant recall! It is very helpful to have the summer term to settle in.
16th May ~ Year 2 Our SEAL theme this half term is 23rd May ~ Year 3
“Relationships”. Through our assemblies, we will be reflecting on an aspect of relationships each week: fond memories, being unselfish, decisions and consequences, taking time to reflect and the importance of being humble in certain circumstances.
It would be lovely if you could discuss some of these important life skills with the children at home too. A reminder…In case some children have forgotten….school shoes need to be worn to and from school every day. The children will change into trainers as required during the school day, but it is unhealthy for their growing feet to stay in hot trainers all day. The first week after half term will be International Arts Week for BSM . Details will follow soon. We welcome artists and craftsmen, scientists and musicians amongst you who might like to share your skills with a group or class and volunteers to help the week run smoothly. Please speak to your child’s class teacher if you would like to help. Wishing you all a very relaxing weekend, hopefully in sunshine! Carol Brown

Notice Board Drop--In School Nurse Drop
The next School Nurse drop in is on Thursday 1st May at 8.50am. Please let the office or one of the class teachers know if you would like to make an appointment to see Sarah. You can also just pop in on the day.
After School Clubs There is now a link on the school website to allow your child to put their name down for the after school clubs that they are interested in. Can you please make sure that they are only requesting a place on a club that is aimed at their year group to avoid disappointment. There is a maximum number of places for all of the clubs and so places will be awarded on a first come first served basis. A list confirming the places awarded for each of the clubs will be coming out at the end of school on Monday. The clubs will be running from Tuesday 29th April.
