Celebration
Dear Parents So, another half-term draws to a close and at this time of year it must mean that bonfire night is approaching. Of course—for the first time ever Blandford St Mary Primary School could be hosting a display provided by our amazing Friends of School team. However—we are currently trying to tie-up some loose ends and it may well be that we have to postpone this event should some of those loose ends prove too difficult. The FoS are working really hard to make sure this doesn’t happen but I’m sure you’ll agree: we have to make sure all is 100% before we allow the event to go ahead. We will keep you informed. Don’t fret about the ticket costs—all are refundable.
that has disappeared recently under the growing vegetation around the edge of our field. The cuttings from this event will be used to fuel our ‘bonfires’ on the 5th November. If you think you can make it please let us know by emailing the school or by using the Contact Us option on the school website. If you decide at the last minute you can make it then please just come along. (Letting us know means we can get enough biscuits in!) On the day—should weather be poor, I will post a message on the school website to let you know if the event is going ahead. By all means bring tools with you! Otherwise we may well be trimming trees and branches with pairs of scissors

Notice Board Poppy Appeal After half term, members of the school council will be visiting classes during registration, to sell poppies on behalf of The Royal British Legion. If your child would like to purchase one, please make either their class teacher or teaching assistant aware that they have the donation with them.
Head Lice
We have had several cases of head lice reported in school. This is a problem that keeps recurring, and is causing distress to some of our children and their parents. We would be grateful if you could check your child's hair carefully and treat if necessary. We would also like to suggest that long hair is tied back which will help prevent further outbreaks. Thank you.
Children in Need
Friday 15th November is Children in Need. On this day the children will allowed to wear non school uniform for a suggested donation of ÂŁ1. The school council will also be visiting classes from Monday 11th November, selling the official neon wristbands for ÂŁ1 each.
Newsletter printing This is going to be the last time that we print the newsletter and distribute it to all of our families in school. After numerous comments from parents regarding sending out the newsletter electronically and our constant strive to improve the way in which we work, we will now be publishing the newsletter on the school website only and sending out a text message to inform you that it is there for you to read. However, we do appreciate that not everyone has access to the school website and that some people would still prefer a hard copy. If you fall into one of those categories, then please give your name in to the school office and we will continue to provide you with a hard copy.
