News & Events 40 Years Celebration

Teachers’ Day The World Teachers’ Day was celebrated on 5th October to pay tribute to the people in this honourable profession that transforms lives and personalities. Students expressed their feelings about their teachers through poems and speeches during the morning assembly and presented flowers to all the teachers. The Regional Office had organized an interesting competition in which teachers were invited to share their views about their philosophy of education and how do they put this philosophy into practice in the classroom.

The students and the staff members celebrated 40 years of their Alma Mater on 4th November with great delight and enthusiasm. They decorated their classrooms with specially prepared birthday cards, balloons and buntings to match the glam up exterior of the school. Ms. Saiqa Naseem, Ms. Shabana Iftikhar, Ms. Sadia Arif and Sehar Bano who have spent more than 10 years with the system shared their feelings and experiences with the students. Ms. Afsheen Imran, one of the Beconites, shared how studying at Beaconhouse prepared her to meet the challenges of professional and personal life. Students’ Clubs & Societies Students clubs and society classes got a new twist with the introduction of Home Economics Club. Our aspiring chefs and dress designers prepared mouthwatering drinks / sandwiches and learned to make simple embroidery stitches.

Global Dignity Day 2015 21st October, 2015 was the culmination of activities being carried out in the branch to celebrate the Global Dignity Day and 70th anniversary of the United Nations. This important day is celebrated to implement the five principles of dignity and the United Nations’ Charter of the universal right of every human being to lead a dignified life by embedding the concept of dignity into teaching and learning. This year the theme of Global Dignity Day was anti bullying.

Obhartay Sitaray Singing Competition

It was an honour for us to host the Final Rehearsals for the participants of Obhartay Sitaray singing competition. Selected students of the branches of School Group-II sang beautiful songs in their melodious voices and made the decision really difficult for the judges. Two of our students Wahaj Bin Ahmed and Dania Kamran represented the branch at the Obhartey Sitare Singing Competition held at Royal Rodale on 19th September, 2015.

Teachers planned out special activities to help students understand the meaning of bullying and how to protect themselves and others from bullying. The skits presented by the students, based on day to day examples of bullying, were interesting and easy to relate to. Being digitally literate, they also wrote and illustrated digital stories based on the principles of dignity. Students of Class 1 prepared banners and took out a rally to create awareness about dignity of human beings.

Marvellous Pieces of Art The outstanding works of Art by Abdul Moiz V-A, Selina Agha III-A, Kisa Batool V-A, Mariam Baig II-C were selected for the SOT Art Exhibition. The marvellous pieces were highly appreciated by the visitors.

Students’ Council Elections Like previous years, this year too students got exposure to democratic system of selecting their representatives through free and fair Student Council Elections. Candidates and their supporters did canvassing through speeches and created interesting slogans. They distributed skillfully made hand bands and badges amongst their supporters. On the day of balloting students did electronic voting to elect their favorite candidates.Abdul Moiz Khan (V-A) and Kisa Batool (V-D) were elected as the Head Boy and Head Girl respectively.

School of Tomorrow Conference Art work Display: Peacock is a creature of inspiration to most of us. It’s enchanting and attractive look urged our students of Grade V to create a 3D life-size Peacock for the School of Tomorrow Conference Art Exhibition. The basic theme behind creating this colourful bird was recycling and reusing. Students utilized different types of used material and explored Papier-mâché’ technique while creating different body parts of the peacock under the supervision of their art teacher Ms. Nehdia Adeel. The final product put the viewers in awe. They highly appreciated the students’ effort and agreed to the message that it’s time to manage waste and become a key player in making our world a safe and healthy place. (The whole process of preparing the display could be seen on the video uploaded on our face book page.)

Parents appreciated the idea of teaching new subjects like PSHE, Language Enhancement, Project Based Learning and Problem Solving to ensure the holistic development of students.
