The First Word

Dear Parents/ Guardians

This has been a year of endeavours and accomplishments. The school aims at providing a safe and secure environment to the students. Keeping in view the well-being of students the Child Protection Policy was implemented this year to ensure that students feel even more protected. They have been unperturbed in discussing their concerns with the Child Protection Coordinators. PSHE lessons have also provided an opportunity to the students to realize their own emotions and others’ feelings to become a good human being.

Like always, the students are involved into a variety of activities to nurture their multiple intelligences. They have performed very well in the Inter-branch debate and singing competitions. Our young artists have been successful in many Art competitions arranged by different organizations.

The teachers are always enthusiastic to give exciting experiences to the students so that they take pleasure in learning together.

My sincere wishes to the graduating students of Class V and a massive thank you to all parents, staff, and the children who together make our time wonderful at GP-IV. Wishing everybody a peaceful and enjoyable vacation and Eid-ul-Fitr.

Visitors are requested to bring their CNIC for verification on the day of appointment. · Showing the Student's ID card at home time is essential. Please make sure that you/ your drivers have it. In case of someone else coming to pick the child, authority letter must be given and the CNIC must also be produced.

News & Events Edmodo Training Session

Sing Fest 2016 Students of grades III, IV and Vs mesmerized the audience through their melodious voices during the inter branch singing competition ‘Sing Fest’ organized by the School Group Office at the Usman Institute of Science and Technology.

A refresher training session for Edmodo was held on Friday, 8 January at Gulshan Primary IV as part of teachers on-going PLC . The session was conducted by the teachers who have used Edmodo extensively in their classes. They shared their practices and features of Edmodo which they found most useful. They also provided on the spot support through useful suggestions and ideas for planning Edmodo based class and home assignments.

Staff members at Gulshan Primary IV attended a session on school security, conducted by security supervisor Mr. Ehsan.They were briefed about the security measures being taken at the branch and expected procedure in case of any emergency. Later on, teachers took turns to learn to use fire extinguishers and fire blankets through demonstration and experimentation.

Iqbal Day Celebrating days of our national heroes’ enables students know about them and provide them role models to follow their footsteps. Death Anniversary of our great poet Dr. Allama Mohammad Iqbal was observed on 21st April by the students. They presented beautiful tableaus based on the poems specially written for children by Allama Iqbal.

Success Stories

Kisa Batool V-D and Selina Agha III-B secured 1st and 3rd positions respectively in Inter Branch Debate Competition held at Gulshan Primary VI.

The Annual Sports Day was held at the UBL Sports Complex on Wednesday, 20th January, 2016. The theme of the sports day was WE ARE BUDDIES – NOT BULLIES.

Pareeshay Khan IV-B and Selina Agha III-A got 1st positions for their art work sent for Skill Art Club Contest.

The event started with a colourful Opening Ceremony followed by Walk Past. All the athletes enthusiastically took part in the events like Yoga, P.E display, Taekwondo, Gymnastics and track events. Everyone witnessed a great show of fair play, modesty and spirit of sportsmanship among the young athletes of GP IV.

Ahmed Tariq Class IV-B won a Bronze Medal for winning 3rd position in International Kangaroo Mathematics Contest.

It was an amazing and unforgettable day enjoyed by everyone present there. The parents highly appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers for organizing such a great event.

Kisa Batool V-D won Artbeat Special Award after participating in 5th Artbeat National Child Art Competition and Exhibitions.

e-Foundation Course Professional development has always been an integral part of Beaconhouse School System. e-foundation is a computer literacy course that enables teachers meet the challenges of the 21st century learning. Gulshan Primary IV teachers, in collaboration with different branches, had the opportunity to enroll in this intensive course. This seven-day course conducted by Ms Ayesha Siddiqui ( ETC School Group II) was aimed at training the faculty members to demonstrate how to deliver IT-integrated lessons.

The last sessions of this were held during the month of January 2016 . The course both entertaining and informative, provided a valuable experience for the teachers.

Women’s Day

End of Year Party

International Women's Day is a day to celebrate the role of women in the community, and wider society. While celebrating this day at school, students were made to realize that women are as capable as a man in whatever the role they areTime playing – in the society and it is unfair to make Travel discriminations against them.Students watched special documentaries about famous women who went out of the way to explore new horizons, read poems for their teachers, mothers and other important ladies in their lives during the assembly. All the ladies in the branch received special token of love from BSS in the form of flowers and sweets.

End of year party was held on Friday, 6th May. Students celebrated whole heartedly their last party of the session. They sang beautiful songs along with their music teacher and played interesting games in their classrooms.

Open Day An Open House for grades I/II was organised for the parents on 6th March.

Students of class I presented project culmination activities of their project work based on their English reader ‘My mum is lost’ They presented short plays and spoke about their understanding of safe strangers in case they get lost in a busy place. A session on Parenting was also held about guiding children . Parents highly appreciated the efforts of teachers and students.

Let’s Bloom Together - Annual School Concert The most awaited and colourful event of the year; the Annual School Concert was held on Saturday 9th April, 2016. The event aimed at promoting sense of unity and togetherness amongst students. All the performances were based on the theme Let’s Bloom Together. The vibrancy with which the stories were conceptualized through actions and expressions captivated the audience. They highly appreciated the delightful performances. The occasion was graced by the presence of the Academic Manager of School Group II; Ms. Tabinda Raza. It was a memorable day for everyone.

Pakistan Day

The Pakistan day was celebrated on 22nd March, 2016 to pay tribute to all the great leaders of Pakistan who made untiring efforts in the making of this country.

The students sang the National Anthem with great patriotism. Performances were designed to make the children understand the historic events that took place on 23rd March 1940.

Usual celebratory events and festivities for the day included quiz competition, song performances, tableaus that touched the strings of patriotism within us.

Students showed national fervour wearing Army uniforms, badges and waved the hallmark Pakistani green and white flag with national spirit. They celebrated this occasion with zeal and zest.
