INTRODUCTION We are excited to launch the first issue of our quarterly newsletters. Our goal is to communicate family blessings, share celebrations and learn family history while spreading “the news”. The news letter will be published quarterly, featuring a different tribe in each issue. We would like to feature the tribe of Aunt Gladys, first born to Joseph Preston and Annie Bell Sewell in the second quarter issue for 2022. This is another method to preserve our family history and have it available for future generations.

Ponderosa Remodel

The deck has been completed on the side of the Ponderosa and looks wonderful.

Additionally, the floors are painted and have a beautiful finish on them.

The “Home Place” Landscaping has been completed around the home place and arrangements are made for continued maintenance.

Upcoming Focus Group A focus group is being planned to meet the first quarter of 2022. Our objectives are to further define and clarify the purpose of SPI and to pass the governing of SPI to our younger generations and determine how the Ponderosa will be financially self-sustained.

Shout Outs & Birthdays: Family, please send us the birthdates of your family members so we can post them in the newsletter and wish them good health and happy birthday. We can share anniversaries, weddings, educational achievements, job promotions or any other acchelaids we want to extend!!

Family History

Who is this gentleman? This is Green Sewell; do you remember his place on our family tree? He is the father of Joseph Preston Sewell.

148 years ago, John Sewell bought land in Lexington County, SC and that some of the land is still held by his descendants today? In 1986, after giving parcels of that property to each of her 14 children, Annie B. Sewell carved out a piece to be held in common by the family. That was the beginning of Sewell Properties, Inc. (SPI)? So NOW it is time for new leadership to write the next chapter of our family’s legacy at 222 Cromer Road. Stay tuned for an invite in late March/early April to participate in a focus group about YOUR engagement in writing that next chapter.
