GEOMETRY
Competition inspired choices Geometry > Versatility We decided to maintain the frame geometry and forks used on our ‘performance’ bikes since 1999. Back then, this geometry, designed in partnership with Armel AndrĂŠ, ergonomist for pro cycling teams, gave our bikes a neutral demeanour, both easy to steer and stable at high speeds. This geometry has proved its versatility from the flat Flemish roads to high mountain stages for more than 10 years now. To increase speed through the bends, the bottom bracket has been lowered by 2mm. Reinforced removable dropout The rear derailleur dropout is 8mm thicker in the tightening zone. Reinforcement has also been added making the ensemble more rigid. This improvement is necessary to get the best out of modern groupsets, which change gear faster and more precisely. To achieve the same qualities from the front derailleur, we chose an inox dropout.
facet e.s.r* THE FRAME The FACET has two distinct parts to its geometry : • The lower part or Dynamic Structure, made up of the forks, the steering, the diagonal tube, the bottom bracket, the chainstay and the rear wheel dropouts. This determines how the bike behaves. It is oversized to provide extra rigidity. Pedal input is transferred to the rear wheel with maximum efficiency and effort on the handlebars is exploited to the maximum. Therefore, the frame is productive while the rider is seated in the saddle and also during the kick-off and acceleration phases when the cyclist is standing up and pulling on the handlebars. • The upper part or Supporting Structure made up of the top tube and the stays. In contrast to the dynamic structure, this is as thin as possible. This geometry liberates the seat tube from the top tube/wishbone, which provides further vibration dampening from the road. Despite extremely rigid pedalling, the FACET preserves a certain flexibility up front, a foundation that doesn’t make it uncomfortable. Frame weight : 1200 g Forks weight : 360 g
New architecture to increase the rigidity of the Dynamic Structure Angular Down Tube > Rigidity ́ The angled sides are clearly visible along the main tubes. This gives the down tube extreme rigidity when flexed. This characteristic increases the FACET’s lateral rigidity. The down tube’s dimensions speak for themselves 57mm at the base of the head tube running to 60mm at the bottom bracket. Conical steering tube > Rigid front + Precise steering The fork has a conical steering tube. The diameter of its cone changes from 37mm to 28.6mm progressively down its length (100mm). The lower ring of the FACET’s steering measures 1.5’’ (1’’1/2). In addition to a major increase in the rigidity of the steering tube, this progressivity enables extremely high fork resistance to solicitations such as braking or impacts without the need to add more material. *Electric Shifting Ready **Weight painting size 57
The volume of the steering tube base enables the two fork blades to be coupled at a width of 57mm. The lateral rigidity of the fork resulting from this design and the geometry of the front part of the frame provide extremely precise steering at high and low speeds and are also perfect for sprints and abrupt accelerations. Variable thickness chain stays > Controlled deformation of rear triangle. The chain stays have a significant jump in thickness 10cm behind the bottom bracket. This geometry displaces the flexion zone from the rear of the bottom bracket towards the middle of the chain stays. Therefore, the deformation of the rear triangle, caused by pedalling forces, does not take place directly at the bottom bracket but closer to the wheel. Deformation at the bottom bracket is therefore less significant than with more progressive thickness chain stays. Fibre > Rigidity The fibre used for the frame and forks is Toray T800. This is a high modulus fibre that enables us to reach our objectives in terms of rigidity = + 22% compared to the fibre used on the FC. A streamlined design to make the Supporting Structure more comfortable.
A streamlined design to make the Supporting Structure more comfortable Thin stays with kinks > Calculated comfort Ě The stays are thin in order to filter vibrations from the road. To accentuate this aspect, which makes cycling more comfortable, the stays have a kink in them. The two different flex points along their length enable microdeformations and therefore better vibration filtering. Lengthened seat tube > Constant comfort The FACET frame’s seat tube is several centimetres higher than the top tube. This ensures that, however high your saddle height, the seat post will not rigidify or restrain the frame at the junction of the top tube and stays. Therefore, the FC remains comfortable for all rider morphologies.
facet e.s.R Forks deformation > Controlled comfort Owing to our years of experience in top-level competition, we calibrated the fork strain at 9mm with a load of 60kg. This relatively tolerant value filters vibrations from the road without hindering steering precision. Carbon dropout > reduction in mechanical stress The front and rear wheel dropouts are entirely made of carbon. They are manufactured using a carbon compression procedure. This gives them the necessary resistance to wheel tightening, flexion caused by the transmission and impacts from the road.
In conclusion: A union of power and pleasure Every line and shape of the FACET frame is designed to increase pedalling efficiency in all situations. We created the FACET and developed its geometry in order to generate significant gains in terms of rigidity. The improvements made compared to the FC frame are as follows: > lateral rigidity at front wheel: +40% > bottom bracket rigidity: +23% > lateral rigidity at back wheel: identical to the FC. The rigidity of the front and the bottom bracket makes the bike efficient when the rider is standing up on the pedals. This makes it the ideal solution for punchers, attackers and sprinters, but also for climbers who like to stand up on their pedals and vary the rhythm.
fc THE FRAME The FC frame and forks combination has everything you need for competitive riding but also for amateur road cycling buffs.
A high-performance combination, comfortable and lightweight... The fork is composite, the steering tube carbon and dropouts aluminium. The FC frame performs equally well in the mountains as on uneven flat roads. There are two distinct parts to its geometry. • The lower part or Dynamic Structure, made up of the forks, the steering, the diagonal tube, the bottom bracket, the chain stay and the rear wheel dropouts. Compared to the FACET, it is less rigid and therefore more suitable to a wider range of cyclists. This frame is very versatile and the tubes are calibrated to respond to forces of 150 W upwards • The upper part or Supporting Structure made up of the top tube and the stays. This combination makes it easier to kick off on hilly courses, without compromising peloton speed on the flat because of its relative flexibility. This geometry liberates the seat tube from the top tube/wishbone, which provides further vibration dampening from the road. The T700 type fibre is less demanding than the one used on the FACET and filters out more vibrations. Frame weight : approx. 1.2kg (size 55) Forks weight : approx. 360g with uncut steering tube. Steering tube The steering tube is a constant 1 1/8. This standard provides rigidity and precision without “blocking” the front and how it absorbs vibrations.
Progressive thickness chain stays The chain stays become thinner towards the rear section from the bottom bracket to the rear dropouts, which are made of aluminium and glued on. This design gives the bottom bracket better lateral mobility, which makes attacking easier for less powerful riders, and easier riding at low speeds on steep slopes.

In conclusion: a frame with a competitive history that carried the yellow jersey, accessible to all cyclists The rigidity of the front and the bottom bracket makes the bike efficient when the rider is standing up on the pedals. This makes it an ideal bike for long distance amateur road lovers and less powerful climbers. The rigidity of the rear triangle is perfect for riding at constant fast speeds. It enables riders to keep a consistent pedalling cadence. This controlled flexibility makes bikes race-efficient. The frame is designed so you can ride for hours without getting tired.
