PENSACON 2018 Let's talk about the best con I've ever had the pleasure of attending. Pensacon. I've been there every year and it just keeps getting better and better I tells ya what. They have over one hundred guests this year. They're not even thru announcing all of them yet. The event this year is Feb 23-25, 2018 in Pensacola, Florida. If you've never been to a comic con this is the one to get started on. If you've been to plenty of cons then this is the one to check out to see how they should be put on. The people putting this con on actually care about the con goers experience and they take very good care of their guests.

The convention takes place at the Pensacola Bay Center across from the Pensacola Grand Hotel. I'm a huge Whovian ( fan of Doctor Who ) and this year's Doctor Who line up is phenomenal, Arthur Darvill who is known for playing Rory Williams as one of the Eleventh Doctor's companions and was also the Rev. Paul Coates in Broadchurch. You may also recognize him from Legends of Tomorrow as Rip Hunter.

Camille Coduri played Jackie Tyler, Rose's mum, during the Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant years. If she looks familiar though you probably remember her from the King Ralf movie with John Goodman plus a ton more of projects. Jemma Redgrave plays Kate Stewart, the daughter of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart in Doctor Who and she been in many other shows and movies.

This will become a long article just on the Doctor Who guests so we're going to speed it up just a bit. Chris Achilloes the British illustrator, David J. Howe involved with Doctor Who research and writing for over 30 years, Deep Roy who was in a fourth Doctor episode “The Talons of Weng-Chiang, Frazer Hines who played the 2nd Doctor's companion Jamie, Garrick Hagon, Hugh Spight, Ian Beattie, Noel Clarke who played Mickey Smith and Captian Jack himself John Barrowman!

GOLD PANNING IN GEORGIA That's right. Over the Christmas holiday I went with my brother and sis in law to the north corner of Georgia with their RV trailer and we camped and did some gold panning and explored the towns in the nearby area and just basically enjoyed being in the mountains. The three towns that we visited was Cleveland, Helen and Dahlonega. All three towns were fun to visit. We did do some gold panning but

we also did a lot of exploring. The camp that we were at was in the Cleveland area and was a regular RV camp but we got dirt from an actual gold mining camp to pan while we were there. Interestingly enough we were just a couple of miles past where the Cabbage Patch Kids were made. I kept seeing the BabyLand sign each time we went to town. Cleveland is a nice cool small town and it had a
Http://louisvilletireandbrake.com very good bar b q place called Rib Country. I loved that place. We drove around and just enjoyed looking at the mountains.
The second day we went to Dahlonega and explored it. They have a downtown square that is awesome. We started with the General store that was just packed with interesting stuff. It even had a player piano that you could put a quarter in and have it play a tune for ya.
It even had a couple of those make a wish games with either a wizard or old woman in the machine. There was an awesome toy store on the square. We ate at an Irish pub that was great. We even went to check out the diving bell they used in the old days to dig dirt for gold at the bottom of rivers and streams. Dahlonega is a tourist type town but it's a tourist type town that you will want to go to multiple times because you will not have enough time to check everything out and it has plenty of places that you will want to go back to and finish seeing.

The pics you see in this article are mainly Helen Georgia. The whole town is done like a German Mountain town. It's a very cool look. Even the Hudel House we ate at was designed this way. Everything is centrally located so you can park and just walk the whole main town

area. It's a fun day checking everything out. The day we went it was starting to rain around noon and we cut our walking tour short. A really cool thing about the RV park were the regulars that we got to visit with that have made gold panning their life. My brother and his wife do this on a more regular basis and like returning to this area so they already knew the regulars and were friends with them. So we got to sit around the camp each day with everyone dropping by and sitting around visiting and telling stories.

One night we just ordered a pizza because they were deliver out there but on that Saturday before Christmas we had the smoker and we made a sausage log. Sausage logs are soooo gooood. Imagine a bacon weave with ground sausage rolled out on that with cheeses and pastrami and pepperoni laid out. Then you roll it up and stick it in the smoker for about four hours. The last half hour you will want to brush on

The bar b q sauce. That is some fine eating I tells ya what. Our “neighbor� Joseph at the camp had some salmon that we smoked at the same time. We also panned thru some dirt while we were waiting and this was the first time I've ever had smoked salmon and I would really like to have some more of that. This was such a fun trip and I highly recommend it even if you don't want to pan it's got plenty more to do. There is so much I didn't cover in this article. There might be more in the future that focus on certain things in the area. See yall next month.
