The Great Escape:

TWO NEW ESCAPE ROOMS COMING TO BUCKHORN

We are so excited to offer two new Escape Rooms at Buckhorn (one is ready now and one is coming Fall 2018!), but we know our guests and campers might not know exactly what an Escape Room is! Below you’ll find a Q&A of Escape Room 411. We hope after reading you will also share in our excitement of these new additions!

What is an Escape Room?

An Escape Room is a mystery-style board game come to life. It is a “physical adventure game,” where teams solve a series of clues, riddles and puzzles to complete certain objectives in a set amount of time.

Why is this important at a camp?

Life at nearly 8,000 ft. elevation is beautiful and exciting... and the weather is often unpredictable! Offering two escape rooms helps diversify our programming at camp while still encouraging teamwork. Because our escape rooms will be set up indoors, they are not weather dependent, giving campers and guests the opportunity to continue growing, exploring, building and creating.

Stay tuned for pictures and more information about our Buckhorn Escape Rooms in the weeks ahead!

The Great Escape, continued from page 1 What ages are the Escape Rooms for?

Our escape rooms will be available to guests of all ages! We will provide clues, puzzles and riddles that are age-appropriate, enabling all of our guests to fully enjoy the thrill of the game.

What if the players need help?

The rooms are outfitted with security cameras that the game leader is monitoring outside of the room. If the players are showing signs of needing help, the leader can enter the room and provide additional clues and hints to get the group back on track!

• UPHILL TRAFFIC HAS THE RIGHT OF WAY

If you see a car coming uphill, do your best to pull over and allow them to pass.

• STAY ON THE ROAD All property is private once you are on the dirt road and we need to be respectful and courteous as we pass through. Please do not exit your vehicle until you have reached camp.

• DRIVE SLOWLY Many sections of the road are one-car wide and there are plenty of wildlife to be aware of. The max speed limit on our road is 15 MPH. We highly recommend 10 MPH. Now is the time to book Fall Retreats The camp schedule fills up FAST and now is the time to start booking retreats for Snapshots of Buckhorn the Fall! Whether you’ve got a church group, small group, or youth group, or are looking for a business or leadership team retreat, Buckhorn provides the perfect in the Fall setting. Enjoy the beautiful changing colors, crisp mountain air, and soak in the quiet, away from the hustle & bustle of city life. Along with offering a pretty spectacular location, we can also help you coordinate team building exercises, mountain hikes, rock climbing, and escape rooms...all at camp!

Communication Difficulties at Camp We are trying to resolve the phone-based communication issues that have been happening at camp, and appreciate your grace as we work on solutions. Our current phone lines are Internet based, and when the power goes out (a semi-frequent occurrence with 70-80 mph wind storms!), we lose our phone lines.

If you have called or call in the future and leave a voicemail, we ask that you please follow that phone call up with an email to: director@buckhorncamp.org to ensure no messages slip through the cracks. The multi-faceted needs of camp work often require the director to be outside of the physical office. Thank you for understanding!
