An Engagement Photo Session?

e asked, I answered. Now we need a photographer! The moment you said, “I do,” sets in motion a relationship that will last a life time. Finding a photographer now becomes essential. Most couples don't realize how important it is, and they miss out on the benefits of an engagement photo session. There are several reasons to have an engagement session. First, it presents a valuable opportunity to work with your wedding photographer. Getting comfortable in front of a lens will lead to memorable moments you will share for a lifetime. Secondly, you will want to share your engagement and announce to the world your wedding day. Great photos will tell your story better than words and demonstrate your love for one another. And finally, the benefits of an engagement session include having nice photos for saving-the-date cards, submitting a photo to the local paper and giving framed gifts to your family. An engagement photo session should be at the top of wedding to-do list. For information about a photo session, call Jess Graves Photography at 215359-7701 or visit www.jessgravesphotography.com.

Choosing A Bridal Bouquet

etting the bridal bouquet right is probably the most important decision you will make in planning how your wedding will look. The bridal bouquet is important because it is the most intimate floral arrangement for the wedding. The bride's bouquet needs to be the most beautiful arrangement of flowers in the wedding party. It needs to be larger, more stunning. The choice of flowers, of course, needs to complement the bride’s and bridesmaids’ dresses and the bouquet cannot really be decided upon until the dresses are chosen. A good place to turn for help in this all-important choice is Dominic Graziano Flowers & Gifts. On the staff there are expert floral specialists who can consult with you so about flowers for the wedding, including the all-important bouquet. When you meet with consultants, you will bring color samples of the dresses, and ideas that you would want to incorporate into your wedding. Domenic Graziano Flowers is located at 60 James Way #3, Southampton PA; Street & York Road, Warminster, PA; and Veterans Lane & Atkinson Road, Doylestown, PA. Microblading For Fuller Eyebrows

M

icroblading, a process of adding semi-permanent ink to an eyebrow using tiny brush strokes to mimic eyebrow hairs, is the latest technique for creating fuller looking eyebrows. Because in this form of cosmetic tattooing the needles are extremely fine, the lines created by this procedure actually resemble eyebrow hair. Microblading gives people with sparse or patchy eyebrows a chance to restore their eyebrows to a full and natural-looking appearance. For cancer patients in particular, Microblading can help a patient fell like him/herself again. Stars di Prinzi Salon began offering this procedure in 2016. It requires extensive training and safety protocols. Kathy Masterson, the salon’s microblading specialis,t has undergone 100 hours of training as specified by the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP.org). Vincent Prinzi, owner of Stars di Prinzi is very pleased to offer microblading to his clients. “If I can affect somebody’s emotions positively, then that’s a wonderful thing.” Stars di Prinzi is located at 1438 Easton Rd.,Warrington, PA 18976. Wedding Trends AND INSPIRATIONS BY KRISTIN ROCKHILL

Tips by a wedding planner to help you keep up with the latest trends and styles 1. Romantic Boho Boho is still going strong in 2017. Romantic palettes of blush, lavender, creams, whites, greens and champagne reign supreme in the world of weddings. Soft whimsical details mixed with electric styling that are a little bit hippie, a touch of gypsy and a whole lot of personal style are what create that perfect Boho vibe! 2. Outdoor Weddings Venues that offer couples outdoor spaces to say I do are more popular than ever. Couples are bypassing traditional ballroom venues for scenic locals with sprawling grounds, spectacular views and rustic structures like barns to host their big day. 3. Art Deco Details Art Deco Details are popping up everywhere. From jewelry to invitation designs, gown embroidery and decor, subtle nods to the era known for geometric shapes and architectural details are a hot topic. Gold and wood round and geometric shaped orbs filled with lush greens and blooms can will be seen hanging in ceremony spaces and decorating table tops at wedding this year. 4. Metallics, Mercury Glass & Mirrors Mirrors are back and better than ever! Mercury glass and vintage style mirrors are popping up on tablescapes as a base for flowers, lanterns, candle holders and are a 158

popular choice for wedding signage. They add a touch of glamour to your wedding without being gaudy or old fashioned. 5. Layered Place Settings Nothing gives your table-scape that picture perfect look like a layered place setting. Charger plates, napkins, custom menus and a perfectly placed stem of greenery is a winning combination. 6. Eclectic Table-Scapes Couples are gravitating towards eclectic centerpieces with mix matched vessels, candles and decor scattered across the table top. Expect to see up to three different style centerpieces at weddings this year and even a mix of table shapes and sizes. 7. Suspended Centerpieces Things are looking up in 2017. Everything from floating and elevated centerpieces to lush hanging greenery installations and floral chandeliers have couples excited about wedding flowers and decor. 8. Lounge Furniture With dancing and the after party being such a big part of the night, brides & grooms are bringing in furniture to be placed around the dance floor to create more of a lounge feel to keep the party together rather than having large

groups congregated near the bar. 9. Vintage Props & Decor Everything from farm tables, antique settees, bureaus and vintage suitcases are making an appearance at weddings. They add home spun charm, character and make the wedding feel more intimate and personal. 10. Cozy Sweetheart Tables Sweetheart tables are taking it up a notch and becoming a focal point of the reception space. Couples are bringing in love seats, wood tables and fancy linens to create a romantic space for a party of two. 11. Naked Cakes Naked cakes are oh so pretty! Whether they’re covered in frosting, dripping with chocolate or decked out in fresh fruits and berries, they are a go-o design for 2017 couples. 12 Wedding Gowns Modern brides are loving the idea of two-piece wedding gowns! It gives them the opportunity to add some personal style to their wedding day look. Giant ballroom skirts paired with fun and flirty tops in an array of colors are a hot look for 2017. 13. Mix Matched Bridesmaids Don't be afraid to let loose and give your girls the green light to put their best foot forward. Set a few ground rules like dress length and colors and give them a descriptive term like, whimsical, modern or romantic that will allow them to achieve a cohesive yet personalized look. To unify your bridal party, choose one item that will be consistent like everyone having the same hair and makeup or identical shoes in an unexpected color. 14. Dessert Food Trucks Dessert is the best part of the night. Guests are drooling over late night treats especially when it comes in the form of an ice cream and waffles food truck! Milk shake shooters and milk and cookie to-go bags are also much appreciated. 15. Man’s Best Friend Bucks County couples love the idea of having their pooch be a part of their big day. Will your fur baby be a part of the ceremony? Walk down the aisle? Party all night long? While we’re all for pups at the party, there are a lot of things to consider before you say I do to bringing your doggy to your wedding! First and Foremost: Does your venue allow pets? Typically B&B’s, farm type venues and outdoor estates will say OK to your four-legged friend being on the property. Hotels, catering halls and ballrooms are definitely less pet friendly. If your venue is on board, consider how easy it will be to keep your pooch contained, out of trouble and have easy access to grassy areas for 160

B U C K S C O U NTY M A G . C O M

potty breaks. Even though this is your big day, you have to take your guests into consideration. Does anyone have a severe pet allergy or aversion to dogs? Since you and your significant other will be a bit busy, do you have a designated doggie sitter to take the reins? You’ll need someone to make sure your best bud gets food, water and taken to the facilities. You know our dog. Is it an over excitable, not so well trained pup? A veteran family member that knows how to chill? Having a dog jumping all over you and your guests, barking and attacking the buffet may not be appropriate for this setting. If you’re still not giving up on including your fur-baby, consider these options: Have someone at the ceremony to oversee the dogs care and promptly following your I do’s return them to the room. It’s helpful if you’re staying on the property where the wedding is taking place. If the venue is a no-go, consider doing your engagement shoot with your pet to relieve the added stress of having them at the actual wedding. 16. Hair & Makeup Don’t make any drastic changes to your normal style. For Example, don’t dye your hair a different color or go for extreme highlights. Go with a more glammed up version of what your normally do. The goal is to be a more defined and polished version of the everyday you. Trials are key to making sure the look and style of hair and makeup you chose actually work with your face and skin tone. It’s also a great idea to schedule your hair and makeup trial right before you have a dress fitting so you can get the full effect and make sure you are comfortable with the overall package. Make sure you have inspiration pictures for your hair and makeup team. Having a visual on hand is always the best way to represent what you are going for. Try and chose images of people with similar hair and skin color as your own. Don’t forget that for most of you, your ceremonies will be taking place during the day. Harsh and heavy makeup might be great for a night on the town but in the reality of day, you can look overdone. Holly Hedge Estate Bed & Breakfast Built in the late 1700s and part of the original William Penn land grant, HollyHedge Estate is situated on 21 bucolic acres. Located near the Delaware River in New Hope, the estate has its own rustic charm and has become a premier destination for Bucks County weddings. According to General Manager Tim Luccaro, his family has been committed to preserving the elegance and natural beauty of their 18th-century farm and estate since taking over in 1994. They are stewards of their estate’s history and the pristine land on which they are located. His family has refurbished many of the historic buildings, restored the estate’s architectural features, and rejuvenated its land. They have a number of acres of land that were put under cultivation to grow various items that they can use in the preparation of food for weddings and their inn guests. “We are taking farm-to-table and sustainability to a new level. The food we can’t grow, we try to obtain for local sources,” Luccaro says. The estate has several areas of interest for brides and grooms to utilize during their weddings. There is a classic fieldstone bank barn, which is popular for wedding ceremonies and cocktail hours. “The Old Barn” has all exposed fieldstone and wood beams throughout the barn. Adjacent to it is a classic English garden. On the property there also are two small ornamental ponds, which are popular for pictures. There is a newer pole barn that was constructed for receptions. This space has all of the modern amenities. At the estate’s original manor house, there are 15 guest rooms. Inn guests can enjoy a full-service breakfast on weekends. HollyHedge Estate has garnered numerous awards from WeddingWire, as well as The Knot. They can host up to 200 guests for a wedding. Couples have access to their two fulltime onsite wedding planners. Lumberville 1740 House Country Inn Along the Delaware River in the quaint village of Lumberville you will find the historic Lumberville 1740 House Country Inn. Originally a working farm in the 1700s, it was later purchased by Harry Nessler in 1968 and turned into a motor lodge, with rooms having views of the river and the Lumberville-Raven Rock Pedestrian Bridge. In 2010, new owners purchased the 1740 House, including Joe Luccaro, owner of HollyHedge Estate. The partners restored and preserved the lengthy twostory inn. The 1740 House is a sister property of HollyHedge Estate. The wedding coordinators at HollyHedge work with the 1740 House to plan weddings and rehearsal dinners. The 1740 House has its own catering staff, and the executive chef at HollyHedge oversees the food quality and production. Both properties offer wedding packages that include the cake, ceremony, reception, flowers, and linens. According to General Manager Tim Luccaro, the 1740 House is ideal for small intimate weddings, as well as rehearsal dinners. “The 1740 House has a smaller capacity. In the winter, the maximum party size outdoors is 40 people. When we can make use of the patio and outside area, it goes up to 65 maximum. We can set up a package where we have the rehearsal din-

ner at the 1740 House outside and along the river. The next day, the wedding ceremony takes place at HollyHedge. You also can have the ceremony outside of the 1740 House along the waterfront, and the reception takes place in The 1740 Club. This members-only club features a bar, and a dining room with an old stone fireplace, Luccaro says. Small intimate weddings at the 1740 House currently are booking three months to a year out, according to Luccaro. Brides and grooms can get a tour of the historic country inn by appointment only. The 1740 House also offers 24 guest rooms with full-service breakfast for its guests. Lumberville 1740 House Country Inn is located at 3690 River Road in Lumberville, PA.
