PRESENTATION SUMMARY: Fisher Houseoffers free temporary lodging for veteran families and their caregivers Professionallyfurnished and decorated homes 16 privatefamily suites, common kitchen, living, dining, and laundry areas; Variety of room sizes; suites that range in size from 2 beds to multiple bedrooms Generally,no limit on how long the family can stay (VA takes over administration) Eligibility:Treatmentrequired at VA facility that is overnight or longer; Hospital administrators ultimately make those eligibility calls Michigan veterans and their families need Fisher House! Approval for newHouse from the DoD and VA decision--expectation is to break ground around 2019 with a typical build time around a year, to begin housing veterans around 2020 There are currently 72 FisherHouse locations worldwide 650,000 vetsin state of Michigan; 300 requests for lodging each mont; Intent toget house built to alleviate need for lodging VA Ann Arborhealth system is specialty care system – PTSD, TBI research, Parkinson’sresearch, specialized cardiac care Access tothis specialized care for those who are farther away Fisher houseintended to service families from outside a 50 mile radius EVENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS: There isa power wheelchair donation available!
