Policy M20: Affordable Housing

For developments of 10 or more homes, or if the site has an area of 0.5 hectares or more, the minimum affordable housing provision is 40%. This may be negotiated on a site by site basis taking into account identified local need, existing provision, characteristics of the site and viability. All affordable housing will be subject to conditions, or a planning obligation will be sought, to ensure that when homes are allocated or sold, priority is given to people with a local connection to Markfield Parish (i.e. including living, working or with close family ties in the Parish). 6.42. Whitegate Stables Caravan Park at Copt Oak is a private Gypsy and Traveller site providing 8 pitches. 6.43. The 2016 Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Needs Study provides a robust evaluation of current and future needs for Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Show people accommodation in Hinckley and Bosworth. This assessment also incorporated a change to the definition of Travellers for planning purposes. The Study concludes that there is no need for additional pitches in Hinckley and Bosworth for Gypsy and Traveller households and, therefore, there is no requirement for our Neighbourhood Plan to make provision.
