Ken Biggs, 66, forest products manager for Orgill, Inc., Memphis, Tn., died Dec. 10.
A native of California, Mr. Biggs started with American Forest Products in California, before transferring to its Houston. Tx.. location in 1969.
He worked for Masonite Corp., Hattiesburg, Ms., from 1977 to 1984; Southern Lumber Co., Jackson, Ms., from 1984 to 1990; Distribution America, Des Plains, Il., from l99l to 1993, and finally with Orgill from 1993 to 2002.
Mr. Biggs was president of the Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers Association in 1990, served on the board of the Mississippi Forestry Association in 1990, was a past deputy supreme of Hoo Hoo Club #111, Jackson, Ms., and was president of Hoo Hoo Club #23, Houston, Tx., in 19'73.
William G. "Bill" Belcher, 69, former mgr., Richlands Bailey Lumber Co., Richlands, W.V., died
Nov.30.
A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Belcher managed Richlands Builders Supply in the 1960s and Richlands Bailey Lumber Co. in the 1970s.
Floyd L. 6(Bud" Dunn, 76, former owner of the old Dunn Building Supply, Ayden, N.C., died Nov. 1.
John William Stephens, 81, retired lumberman, Cropp Lumber Co., Fredericksburg, Va., died Dec. 8.
Ernest "Shorty" Leech Myers Jr., 88, v.p., The Old Planing Mill, Glasgow, Ky., died Nov. 13.
A native of Glasgow, he was a member of the Kentucky Retail Lu mber Dealers Association.
Richard D. "Dick" Ferrell. 72. owner, Ferrell's Logging & Lumber Co., Frenchburg, Ky., died from cancer Oct. 30.
Mr. Ferrell was a veteran of the Korean War.
Charles Cox, 76, retired founder, Cox Interior, Campbellsville, Ky., died from an inoperable brain tumor Sept. 30.
MAKING THE GRADE: Cox Industries and Timber Products Inspection recently sponsored a grading contest at Cox Wood Preserving, Orangeburg, S.C. International Paper, Meldrim, Ga., took top honors as best overall team. Representing l-P were (left to right) Danny Smith, Jake Blackmon and Johnny Ellis. Smith was also named the contest's best overall grader.
A native of Taylor County, Ky., Mr. Cox served in the Army during World War II.
After the war, he and George A. Cox co-founded Cox WeatherStripping, which later was renamed Mannsville Sash & Door and Cox Cabinet Co.
Cox founded Cox Interior in 1983. He retired in 1993, turning the business over to his children.
