Welcome I believe in following our individual choice and taste rather than blindly following a trend. This is what makes us and our homes unique. I find equal inspiration in things and atmospheres from both bygone times and the present, and I adore the succesful blend of the two. I believe that the Bungalow collection does not only appeal to one type, but that our designs can be used with many different styles depending on your choice and blend. It´s all about having the courage to follow your taste and personality, and maybe stick out a bit. Therefore, we have asked photographer Celine Hallas to give her interpretation of our collection in the charming sorroundings of her Copenhagen apartment – to compliment our own images. My grandmother passed away recently at the age of 101 years. My grandmother had style – she had lived her young years working as a maid in several small Danish castles. And she adapted the classy style from these surroundings in her later life. Throughout my childhood, my cousins and I were always allowed to play with all her beautiful and sometimes valuable belongings – laced gowns, jewelleries, matching shoes and bags in exotic leathers and of course her numerous sets of tea cups and cake plates for our arranged tea parties. She trusted us completely and I don´t remember us ever breaking anything. She also used to take me out to all-evening ballet shows and to auction houses for good bargains of silver, paintings or sculptures. I do believe in the impact of surrounding ourselves with beautiful things and my grandmother definetely had an influence on how I have developed a taste and preference for the old world charm. When she passed away I was fortunate to inherit several of her beautiful things – among these the Gustavian style sideboard used on the cover of this catalogue. I have always loved this piece, but never imagined it to become a part of a Bungalow collection. This collection is a tribute to my grandmother, the grandeur of past times and the power of personal taste. I am sure my grandmother would have loved to decorate her Christmas tables with our golden leaves and the paper ornaments inspired by the magical gardens of Versailles.

Ceramics
New tunes in ceramic have joined the club. We simply love the organic shapes & vibrant colours of our new stoneware range with reactive glaze. We think they are jazzy and that’s what we have named the collection, which includes a variety of bowls, plates and serving dishes. For pattern lovers, last season we introduced cups with our signature pattern Neem. This season we are happy to welcome more members to the Neem ceramic family as well as new colours. It´s time to pick - and match if you dare. Stoneware is a very strong and durable material. The Bungalow collections of stoneware are manufactured with various types of beautiful glazes. The Jazzy collection is made with reactive glaze - a technique which creates multicoloured effects and a unique look on each item. The patterned collection is made with thick, glassy glaze with a crackle effect. The crackled look will increase with usage. The patterns are applied by hand. For both types, expect and embrace varieties in colour and irregularities as part of the products. We do not consider them imperfections, but charming reminders of the handmade touch. 24

“ It is not a coincidence that we have had hand blockprinted textiles 52
in our collection for the past decade. It all started with a fascination for the beautiful and diverse blockprinted patterns, which I discovered on my very first travels to India. For me it was an instant love for the craft behind the patterns – an ancient technique which has survived the wonders of modern industrialization, due to dedicated artisans and pioneers in the Indian textile industry. Blockprinting is a testimony of the love of colours and patterns, which has always been essential in India. The beauty of blockprinting is in the imperfection - the way in which the imperfection gives life to the pattern, the way you can detect the stamp outlines from the wooden blocks and the dissimilar pressure from the artisan´s hand – these characteristics distinguish a blockprinted textile from a perfect machine printed one, and makes blockprint unique.

For thousands of years, artisans of India have been making decorative blockprints - enchanting and inspiring around the world. The art of blockprinting is passed down from generation to generation and to achieve the highest quality we are working with some of the best blockprinters in India. Blockprinted textiles are all handmade products and the printing process is lengthy and complex. Each piece is unique. Handmade All our paper sheets are handmade and produced from recycled cotton. It is wood-free and azo-free. We use many different types of techniques to make our papers. We use plain coloured papers with coating to achieve a leather look, screen printed papers for colourfull patterns, papers with gold-foil stamp with an exlusive feel and the ancient craft of marbling. Marble Art Paper marbling is an ancient craft in which floating colours are transferred unto papers or other surfaces, creating patterns resembling marble or other kinds of stone. Each paper sheet is a small piece of art and every product is unique. Our Marble Art products are made of handmade cotton paper.
