25 years ago, I was on my way as a backpacker to India for the first time. I instantly fell in love with the country, the people, the colours and the crafts. Many trips to India came along over the following years. I was convinced that I could not be the only one to appreciate “the Indian touch”. The idea of a business, in which I could combine the beauty of India with Scandinavian aesthetics in interior products, slowly matured. 10 years later Bungalow was born, and I was on my way to India to do business with my first supplier. The Indian star lamp was introduced as the very first product. The star lamp is a star-shaped paper lampshade, which is used in multiples to beautifully light up the streets and houses during various festivals in India. Today it is still a signatur element in Bungalow’s collections. This season, we are celebrating Bungalow’s 15th anniversary and the Bungalow star is shining brigther than ever - thanks to all our wonderful customers, many of you have stayed with us since the very beginning. Thanks to our skilled suppliers, many of whom we have collaborated with for the past 15 years, and thanks to the best team of staff behind Bungalow. With the Vintage collection we created a look for our block printed textiles that stands the test of time. When I was a child my father went to India on a business trip and brought back home the most beautiful block printed tablecloths and wrap-around skirts for me and my mother. It was in the 70´s and the textiles had a hippie, yet classy look. We have created the same look in a modern version by printing intricate paisleys and florals on tea-coloured fabric. We simply love the new range which will bring both happiness to every bohemian soul and add elegance to your classics.

the story behind block printing textile for dining For thousands of years, Indian artisans have been making decorative block prints – enchanting and inspiring around the world. The art of block printing is passed down from generation to generation and to achieve the highest quality we are working with some of the best block printers in India. Block printed textiles are all handmade products and the printing process is lengthy and complex. Each piece is unique. Be ready to embrace varieties in colour and irregularities as part of the product. We do not consider them imperfections, but charming reminders of the handmade excellence. Skilled craftsmen stamp the cloth using carved wooden blocks to imprint the designs onto the fabric. Depending on the number of colors and the intricacy of the designs, the printer handstamps the cloth hundreds or even thousands of times to complete a Bungalow textile. We love the charm and vividness of these traditional prints and hope that they will bring joy to your own bungalow.

It is not a coincidence that we have had hand block printed textiles in our collection for the past decade. It all started with a fascination for the beautiful and diverse block printed patterns, which I discovered on my very first journey to India. For me it was an instant love for the craft behind the patterns – an ancient technique which has survived the wonders of modern industrialization, due to dedicated artisans and pioneers in the Indian textile industry. Block printing is a testimony to the love of colours and patterns, which is so striking in India. The beauty of block printing is in the imperfection. It is the imperfection that gives life to the pattern – the way you can detect the stamp outlines from the wooden blocks and the dissimilar pressure from the artisan's hand. 1. Recycled cotton pulp is being processed for paper making
Handmade cotton paper We use many different types of techniques on our handmade papers. We use plain coloured papers with a special coating to achieve a leather look, screen printed papers for colourful patterns and papers with gold-foil stamp for an exclusive look. But common to our paper products; sheets, boxes, cards and notebooks is, that they are all made from handcrafted paper, which is produced from recycled cotton. The papers are wood-free and azo-free. On the following pages you can see the complex process of the paper making.

Lacquer Trays
Stoneware is a very strong and durable material. The Bungalow range of stoneware items are manufactured with glaze applied by hand to obtain the special look that you fell for. Varieties in colour such as small spots and unevenness may occur. These charming imperfections are not considered defects. The types of glazes are “crackle” glaze and “reactive” glaze. For both types, the crackle effect is part of the product and therefore intended. The different colour effects in the glaze occur by mixing pure mineral oxides at high temperature. The look and intensity of colour will vary from item to item. Therefore, please note that all items are unique and might vary from the colours showed in the catalogue. The crackle look will increase with usage. All items can be machine dish washed. Microwave use is not recommended.
Bungalow lacquer trays are made of Mdf and painted with high gloss water-based lacquer. These items are for decoration purpose. We do not recommend them to be used with candle lights. We recommend gentle wash with a damp or dry cloth.

Metal Spoons
Bungalow drinking glasses are solid colour. Can be machine washed.
Bungalow metal spoons are made of stainless steel with enamel handle. We recommend handwash.
Glassware Siesta Bungalow drinking glasses Siesta are made from mold-blown recycled glass, and each glass has a unique surface with charming naturally occurring organic imperfections and even sometimes a small stone can be hidden in the glass. We recommend handwash.
Coconut Bowls Bungalow coconut bowls are made from coconut shells painted with high gloss water-based lacquer. These items are for decoration purpose. We do not recommend them to be used with candle light. We recommend gentle wash with a damp or dry cloth.
Wooden Spoons Bungalow Wooden spoons are made of Acacia. We recommend handwash.
Lanterns Bungalow lanterns are made of glass and brass. We recommend gentle wash with a glass detergent and a soft cloth.

Bungalow seagrass flowerpots are plastic lined.
Bungalow metallic ornaments are made of genuine gold leaf covered metal. We recommend dust cleaning with a soft cloth
Pottery Vases
Paper Stars
Bungalow pottery vases are made of stoneware. These are not waterproof. We recommend using a glass or a plastic insert.
Bungalow folded paper stars are made of paper with punched or printed patterns. The stars do not include a wire which can be bought separately. 30 W is recommended. Avoid direct sunlight. We recommend dust cleaning with a soft cloth.
Seagrass Flowerpots
Glass Lamps Bungalow glass lamps are made of hand-cut glass. Electric socket E27 and EU 2-pin plug. Dust cleaning with soft cloth is recommended.
Paper Lampshades Bungalow folded lampshades are made of paper with screen-printed patterns. The shades include shade-holder to fit most table lamps. Avoid direct sunlight. We recommend dust cleaning with a soft cloth.
Boxes & Tissue Boxes Bungalow boxes are made of handmade paper, based on recycled cotton. We recommend dust cleaning with a soft cloth. Avoid direct sunlight.
Jewellery Boxes Bungalow jewellery boxes are made of handmade paper, based on recycled cotton. We recommend dust cleaning with a soft cloth. Remember to follow the instructions of your jeweller as to how to store your jewelleries. Many jewellery companies recommend storing jewelleries in individual bags to avoid chemical reactions.
Flowers Everlasting Bungalow everlasting flowers are made of dried real flowers. Avoid direct sunlight. We recommend a bit of wind for cleaning.
Flowers Artificial Bungalow artificial flowers are made of coloured plastic. Avoid direct sunlight. We recommend dust cleaning with a soft cloth.
Paper Decoration Honeycomb Bungalow honeycomb paper decorations are made of handmade paper closed with a magnet. Please note that they must be folded carefully, and magnets closed simultaneously to avoid breakage. Avoid direct sunlight. We recommend dust cleaning with a soft cloth.
