A WASHED-UP LAUNDRY GETS A SPARKLING FRESH MAKEOVER

During everyday life there’s just no escaping the washing, and it can feel like a relentless chore. One way to ease that pain is to balance the practical with the pretty, an approach our experts took in this Make It Happen laundry transformation. In giving this area a stylish update, adding bench space and ample storage was just the start.

Laundry lowdown

Interior designer and stylist Jono Fleming had terracotta-style floor tiles laid in a herringbone pattern. “Tiles are a good way to keep mess manageable and create a wipedown zone before you transition into the main part of the house,” he says. Panelled-profile cabinets were chosen to match the wall lining. “It’s a small space, so layering vertical panelling gives you the illusion of height,” Jono advises. A timber benchtop adds to the earthy feel, reinforcing the nature-inspired colour scheme.
