Summer colour Fill hanging baskets with these stand-out stunners
Calibrachoa
Masses of bell-like flowers in pink, red, purple, yellow or orange cover this trailing perennial in summer. The blooms resemble mini petunias (a relative) with single or double forms that look fabulous spilling over a basket. It’s a prolific performer, so deadhead regularly.

Position in full sun or part shade and feed often with a liquid fertiliser to help boost growth.

Flowers come in shades of orange, red, pink, purple and white, above attractive glossy foliage.
One of the best florals for summer colour, with large, trumpet-shaped blooms in vibrant bi-coloured and single forms that can also have ruffled petals. The trailing forms are big and beautiful but, if their display is too extravagant, tone it down by mixing colours or including soft foliage plants like dichondra.
Lobelia
The flowers may be dainty, but what the trailing forms of this annual lack in size, they make up for in display. Purple, lilac, blue or white flowers adorn the plant in summer and cascade over the sides of pots and hanging baskets. Position in full sun to part shade and remove spent flowers regularly.
