Managing Director’s Address Welcome to the summer issue of the Burbank Views.
of regional expansion are further realised by our growing population.
With this first issue for the year – and, indeed, the decade – come a number of exciting plans for Burbank.
On a national level, Burbank is preparing to expand into Queensland, where we look forward to continuing our ongoing commitment to build good quality homes that are both affordable and sustainable.
While the construction industry is an ever-changing one – what was 10 or 20 years ago is not today, and will not be tomorrow – our number one focus at Burbank has, and always will be, our clients and our products. As ever, Burbank is passionately committed to building a lifestyle for families by providing our clients with sustainable, innovative, highvalue solutions. Our goal is to deliver homes that our clients are proud of. While Burbank is one of the top five volume builders in Victoria, we envisage that, over the coming years, Burbank will be further embraced as a household name. We would like to see operations grow outside of the Melbourne metropolitan area as the benefits
But Burbank isn’t just about homes. With the Burbank Group comprising Burbank Plumbing, Dynamic Technology Solutions, National Pacific Finance, Big and Small, and Freehold Investment Management – just to name a few – we act as a one-stop-shop for our clients, who receive a consistently high standard of craftsmanship and build time. Great businesses are a collection of amazing, inspired people who love what they do, and who go the extra mile. All of us here at the Burbank Group are looking forward going that extra mile and embracing the many new challenges 2011 will bring.
Luxury living for the over If you’re over 55 and looking to down-size your home and up-scale your lifestyle, look no further. The stunning Alamanada estate in Point Cook is now catering for the over 55s, with the launch of Burbank’s newest homes, The Residences. The Residences – a community of 64 homes exclusive to over 55s – open their doors on Saturday 12th February 2011. Positioned only 50 metres from Club Alamanda, and available to Alamanda residents only, The Residences are a stone’s throw from tennis courts, a swimming pool and a gym.
What’s more, as a Residences resident, you can enjoy the community herb garden, park and BBQ facilities; explore Point Cook’s vibrant Town Centre and impressive coastal reserves, or delight in the benefit of being a short 20 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD. Edgy new look for Edge In 2011, colours and finishes selections have become even more exciting with the huge refurbishment of our Edge Selection Studio. Edge, in Melbourne’s CBD, now offers a bigger range of product choices, and has started opening its doors on Saturdays for pre-selection ‘walkthroughs’ for clients. “We listened to a lot of feedback from clients, and have initiated Saturday Edge preview visits,” Edge manager Carol Rubidoux said, when introducing the refurbished studio. The hourly one-on-one walk-throughs allow homebuyers to get a fuller understanding of the selections they will be expected to make.
“Budgets vary, as do the ages and stages of the home buyers visiting Edge,” Ms Rubidoux added. “Everyone needs to be offered the same high level of service and an opportunity to make their choices as informed as possible.” For more information on Edge, or to take a virtual tour, visit burbank.com.au/AboutUs. aspx
e Burbank’s excellence awarded 4 years running While Burbank is recognised as one of Victoria’s top five home builders, they also continue to excel in their construction of apartment buildings. For the fourth year running, Burbank has won the UDIA top gong for excellence for medium density product. The latest recognition comes for their Denton Mills project in Abbotsford – once Australia’s first steam-powered hat factory; now a modern mixed-use complex. “The revitalisation of Denton Mills has transformed the whole area,” said Burbank managing director Jarrod Sanfilippo. “The old derelict site was not too long ago inhabited by squatters and pigeons. “Now it is a vibrant, mixed-use precinct comprising 61 residences, six commercial offices, and the ‘Three Bags Full’ café.” The Denton Mills project is the fourth UDIA feather in Burbank’s cap – following awards for the Metro Village 3175 in Dandenong South in 2009; Yarravillage in Yarraville in 2009; and Blue Edge Apartments, also in Yarraville, in 2007. Strong, long-term partnerships with stakeholders, combined with a solutionfocused team of planners, designers, estimators and administrators, means Burbank can deliver successful product that is recognised by its industry peers. “We are a team here at Burbank, and rely heavily on both staff and suppliers who are integral to the growth of the company,” according to project manager David Borg, from Burbank’s medium density team. “We look after those who are part of our business because growth only occurs on the basis that you have strong foundations. “As we grow, we would like to hope that our suppliers, too, will move forward within the industry.” *For more information on the award-winning Burbank, visit burbank.com.au

Burbank premieres hom
Have big ideas for your dream home but little funds to make it a reality? Burbank can help. Burbank has launched a one-of-akind home design at $44,000 off the valued price. And, in an effort to get you to realise your dream home faster, The Premiere comes with a guaranteed site start of 12 weeks. Available to 100 purchasers only, The Premiere – valued at $213,000 but on offer for only $169,900 – is a 7-Star, 23 square home, comprising four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and is packed with upgraded inclusions.
But, rather than offer these upgraded inclusions at a discounted rate, Burbank has slashed the price of the entire home. “Housing affordability is a huge issue for homebuyers, so we are very excited to offer The Premiere at a $44,000 discount,” Burbank business development manager Sam Tucker said. “Our research and development team worked tirelessly to include as much into the floorplan as possible, making the home not only stylish, but also practical.

“The inclusion of two separate living areas and an alfresco offers plenty of space for the family to spread out and entertain.”
And – with The Premiere boasting a 7-Star energy-efficiency rating – homebuyers will continue to save well after they have moved in.
Mr Tucker said negotiations with suppliers enabled Burbank to offer this exclusive home at such an amazing price.
“The 7-Star Premiere is not only a plus for the environment, but also for the back pocket, saving the occupant money off their utility bills – crucial at a time when energy bills are set to rise,” Mr Tucker said.
“Our extensive negotiations with suppliers has allowed us to include upgraded features such as the alfresco, as well as stone benchtops, timber-look flooring, double-glazed windows, carpet and tiles, just to name a few,” Mr Tucker said.

Its adjoining butler’s pantry is equipped with an optional second stovetop and double sink, making catering for crowds a breeze, while the main kitchen area remains uncluttered.
minor bedrooms are serviced by its own ensuite and walk-in robe, and the master suite includes two spacious walk-in robes and the award-winning Merchiston ensuite. A choice of breakaway space upstairs is provided with a central rumpus and gallery leading out to a balcony. The larger of two sizes available, the Merchiston is a must-see for the house-proud.
Upstairs is equally delightful for every member of the home: the CompleteTM Collection Santoro 2700 - Aspen facade
As you enter the wide entrance of the Santoro 2700, you immediately have a sense of space – with the hallway opening out to a huge family meals area, supervised by a superbly presented kitchen. Storage space is essential in open plan areas, and Burbank has ensured ample room for clutter free food preparation. The home’s media room is displayed at The Avenue as a theatre room, catering for the fundamental breakaway space growing families crave. The optional alfresco offers
a further indoor/outdoor extension making home entertaining as pleasurable as a night out. The sleeping wing is also well thought-out with the positioning of entrances optimising privacy. The four bedrooms are split, with one of the minor bedrooms easily accessible to the parental suite – perfect for the smallest of the brood. The Santoro is also available in a 2300 version and both sizes fit on a 16m wide block.
Highlands Estate With recycled water to all new homes, a park within walking distance to everybody, and a library and learning centre under construction, Highlands is a masterplanned community designed for families. The newest estate in Craigieburn, Highlands also has the advantage of easy access to established public transport and freeways, shops and schools. Highlands Estate is open weekends from 11am until 5pm, or 12pm until 5pm weekdays, and is located at Huntington Drive, Craigieburn (Melway Ref 386 G2). On display at Highlands Estate: Future Collection Ascent 2600 - Artico facade
The practical layout of the Ascent makes the home perfect for growing families, with the children’s sleeping wing positioned away from the front of the home and separated living areas serviced by a central kitchen. The Ascent is available in three sizes ranging from 26 to 30 squares and has several options available to customise the home to suit all needs - such as the displayed bi-fold doors that extend the
living space between the family/meals area, and extra cabinetry to the ensuite and laundry. The Ascent 2600 as displayed at Highlands achieves an impressive 7.7Star energy rating through Future Collection standard inclusions such as double glazed windows, thermally improved aluminium window and door frames and long-life low energy fluorescent lighting.
Future Collection Generation 2200 - Artico facade
Also from the Future Collection, the award-winning Generation 2200 allows for generous space to both the large family/meals area and each of its three bedrooms. The display demonstrates how entertaining space can be further enhanced through options such as bi-fold doors leading to an alfresco.
The Generation is available in a larger 26 square size to include an extra bedroom and separated theatre. The rear of the home can be flipped to optimise solar orientation.
The double-storey Freeman 2800 is one of Burbank’s Complete Collection homes, designed to fit a narrow 12.5 metre wide block.
The Freeman 2800 can be manipulated to optimise space. Extra storage is created in the service areas where it’s needed most, allowing for ample room for the enjoyment of living.
The smaller of two sizes in this design, it caters for three bedrooms and ample space afforded to rest, relaxation and elegant entertaining. The Arlington Façade includes a gallery and an extended, cantilevered balcony, supported by long, slim timber posts, three times the depth of a standard post.
Pamper yourself in the luxuriously spacioused ensuite with twin vanities, double shower and massive walk in robe. The minor bedrooms easily accommodate a double bed and side tables with additional room to play. With narrow blocks typically presenting homeowners with extended length,
Burbank offers a large range of practical options to customise the floor plan, including the displayed family room and alfresco.
BURBANK VIEWS SUMMER 2011
The Merchiston wins top Burbank has proven it is the market leader for bathrooms by taking out the best ‘Bathroom in a Display Home’ award at the HIA-CSR Victorian Housing and Kitchen and Bathroom Awards late last year.
The award-winning bathroom in the Merchiston 4700 home features a luxurious white freestanding bath, white ‘his and hers’ basins with chrome taps, and frameless shower screens with polished silver hinges.
In congratulating Burbank on the award – which recognises excellence in craftsmanship, design, innovation and construction in the Victorian residential industry – the HIA praised the Merchiston 4700’s bathroom as “beautifully designed, and the mosaic looks great.”
A chocolate brown feature wall provides contrast to earthy wall tiles and cream floor tiles, while a stunning mosaic wall shielding the bath from the shower completes the picture, adding elegance and colour.
Burbank managing director Jarrod Sanfilippo said it was an honour to receive this award, which is a welcome addition to Burbank’s swelling awards portfolio. “Burbank is highly committed to surpassing expectations, and we are thrilled to be awarded for creating beautiful yet practical bathrooms in our homes,” Jarrod said.
The Merchiston is available in two sizes: the 47 square home is on display at both Alamanda Estate in Point Cook, and The Avenue at Casey in Cranbourne North; while a leaner, 38 square version is on display at Mosaic Estate, Lalor and Arndell Estate, Truganina.
