Happy April! In just a few short weeks, we will be joining people across the globe in celebrating Earth Day. Each year, this day serves as a time to reflect on the beauty of the world around us, and ways we can make it a better place. At the beginning of the year, Burbank kickstarted a new campaign called “Plant for a Greener Burbank.” With the help of residents and business owners, our City hopes to plant 500 new trees by the end of 2021. As a part of this initiative, the City is giving away FREE shade trees! We’re also looking for volunteers to help us plant trees in some of our parks. As we celebrate this Earth Day, we hope that you will spread the word about this campaign! If you’re interested in learning more about Plant for a Greener Burbank, visit: www.burbankca.gov/greenerburbank. We’re still adding more Virtual Activities to our schedule! We are pleased to announce that last month we added a new Ukulele Group. This group meets on Thursdays from 11am - 12pm. On April 28, SCAN will be hosting a virtual Smartphone and Tablet class for our participants. If you are interested in signing up for either of these activities, please contact the Joslyn Adult Center. We still do not have a projected reopening date, but will continue to keep everyone posted as we receive more information. In the meantime, we hope to see you in one of our Virtual Activities!
